Got my haircut today. They were VERY cautious (they have to be, but not everyone is). It's hot out and sunny as fuck, and I had to walk a bit from my car, so my skin temperature kept reading around 100 on their point-and-click thermometer. My stylist told me to go back to my car, turn the AC on and try to find a closer spot. I did, and when I came back, I read as 98.4 degrees. Everybody had a mask on and all customers are required to have masks BEFORE they get inside, because they do the temperature check outside. When I was walking out there was a woman by the door, talking on the phone, with NO MASK on. I don't even know if she was waiting for an appointment, but I hope they turn her the fuck away and that she's not a cunt about it. I bet she will be, tho.

There was a question to perpetually-aggrieved Pence today, after he said to follow local guidelines and mandates, about how the entire administration and campaign project the complete opposite of that. They flout local mandates, encourage large groups and no masks, and contribute to the rapid explosion, and he talked about the first amendment. Cunt. It better hurt whenever he dies. His life has been spreading misery and pain. He never once said the word "mask" when at the lectern. He's probably prohibited from saying it. America has collectively earned the worst of what we're getting and going to get. We've let the worst of us define us for too long. Like embracing this whole proud South confederate legacy bullshit. That kind of commercial and communal tolerance has so tragically shaped a nation of warped misunderstanding and inclusion.
The best of us are too busy just trying to keep as many of us alive as possible to do anything else right now, and they're having a fucking hard time, whatever part of this they're situated in.
The deaths are brutal. But there's so little discussion of the lasting effects on all of those who survive. That's a factor that's going to linger for years in many cases. And on top of all that, the midnight filing last night to end the ACA, by the man who only wants people to love him, will allow for any conditions developed from covid to be refused for future coverage.

We got a no-touch thermometer from monoprice and it's great. I suggested getting another my wife could take to work, but her boss is so lazy and thoughtless about all this that she's just making sure she's got her corner of things under control as much as she can. He's been wearing the same 5 paper masks for months. Elastic is all stretched out, they're dirty. He even offered one to a customer who she said looked sick at the idea of taking it. He'd forget about taking temps fast and it would somehow become a point of contention for him down the road. He fucking whines about everything and doesn't understand much that he'd rather just react to. We went for a drive last night so I could get some air, head out the window like a dog. Passed by 2 bars in the area and both were fucking busy. There were about 40 cars in front of a big sports place, and the shitkicker bar that opened up last year had about half the lot full on a Thursday close to 10pm.

Wifespar picked up some cans of Boost oxygen. I've been doing breathing exercises and stuff already. But this is pure oxygen and sounded fun. Don't think I didn't pretend to be President Skroob when I did it the first time.

Good news, everyone. Fauci said scientists in China have come across a virus in pigs that resembles H1N1 and the 1918 flu. It hasn't hopped to humans yet. But it's showing signs of reassorting genes, which I guess means it's looking for a way to flourish beyond just pigs. It's called G4. Insert Kevin and Olivia jokes here. Fucking eat shit, 2020.

It seems like the governor Florida is determined to kill as many people as possible. I can't think of any other reason why he'd refuse to reinstate lockdown restrictions as his state is going through one of the worst resurgences of Covid in the country. Florida also got busted falsifying data to make their Covid response look better than it actually was, so this shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.
Florida has always been America's nasty sweaty dick, but now America's dick is all gangrenous and in danger of rotting off and becoming a floating leper colony.

My grandfather is in an independent living facility down in the Fort Lauderdale area, and I worry about him every day. He's a smart and cautious guy, but almost nobody around him is, and like my cousin who died in an ALF back in May, I fear he's a sitting duck in there. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge and took part in liberating the Buchenwald concentration camp. If he survives long enough, he'll be 95 in October. My brother isn't helping things, as he lives down there, too, with his family. While my grandfather will let him bring him things (groceries and prescriptions and the like), he won't let him inside (he's not allowed anyway) or anywhere the fuck near him. The old man makes him leave stuff on the apartment patio, and if they talk he needs to be on the other side of that cement area, and my grandfather talks to him from inside. My brother had complained to my mother back in March or early April that he didn't think people were taking the virus seriously, but he was talking to her from his buddy's house, so even back then he was a fucking idiot about isolating and quarantining. He now seems to think the virus is bullshit (he watched that dumbass youtube video every dumb cunt conspiracy nut was sharing a couple months ago, and he now also seems to think masks are bullshit or take away his freedom or some bullshit, and he's also one of those clowns who went from being a Bernie Sanders supporter in 2016 to a Trump supporter this year. He did have a heart attack two years ago, so blood loss to the brain could explain some things. Speaking of that heart attack, he's "vulnerable population" now, so WOOOOO! Fuck, he's stupid.

So, our game show host president has put his faith fully in another game show host, by smearing Dr. Fauci and making Chuck fucking Woolery his new source on how to deal with this thing. We are so fucked. I'm seeing a little more on reinfections, although not much is out there. And few seem to be considering that there isn't immunity to covid. It's already shown all kinds of mutations, so getting it again is not impossible.
I'm still not well. This is entering week 4 and my breathing is still difficult. I've been walking each night since last week to build it back up, as well as my energy and endurance, and it's only coming slowly. When I cough it still drains me of energy. My wife got some of those Boost oxygen canisters. I don't know how much they help, but I usually grab one of those after I get home from walking, or anytime I've moved around a lot at home.
I smoked for about 13 years until 2000, and I'm concerned that even after all that time, the reason I'm having such a hard time with this in my chest is because of that. This ain't no joke. We'll hit 200,000 confirmed dead by fall - I'm sure the number is probably higher because states are afraid to be honest about it - and it will only get worse because we are doing absolutely nothing as a nation to contain it.

Take care of yourself. Hopefully you're moving towards getting better.
And yes, things will be much worse by this fall. Schools around here are scheduled to reopen the first week of August, and it scares the hell out of me. Not just that we're tossing young kids into a COVID petri dish, but that the schools will become daily super spreader events and things will spiral out of control faster than they did in the spring. I watched Betsy DeVos' CNN interview yesterday and that babbling idiot couldn't even begin to defend the rush to reopen schools. She said words and sentences and shit, but she said nothing. It was unbelievable.
And I can't help but look at this stuff through the lens of the election. It's absolutely insane to me that not only to Republican governors not care about getting people sick, but they're even ok with heading into election season of September/October having to defend decisions that will very likely lead to thousands of sick children. I shudder to think how bad things will be by the end of October. They'll have to impose more lockdowns and limit access to polling places and yep now it makes sense. Evil fuckers.

It's better sometimes, then it's not sometimes. It's frustrating. Coughing up a lot of shit today and my chest aches from it. And I'm tired. I got on the elliptical for about a minute today and that was awful. Fuck going to the hospital. Do not want. The state is offloading patients to other states at this point. Hallways are full so they have to send people elsewhere or turn them away.
Betsy sees the advantage of killing off as many godless liberal public school kids and families as possible. Then she and a lot of others can make even more money selling dinosaur Jesus history books to all the remaining churches disguised as charters as part of the shift to make America a religious monarchy.
My sister and her husband are both teachers here in Dumbfuckizona and are scared as hell about going back right now. I saw that LA and San Diego schools are not opening, going all online in fall. This is where so many of those trillions should have gone, to build a new education infrastructure for remote learning. Instead we gave it to the banks and businesses who just got trillions in tax breaks not long ago.

But Yeezy and TB12 needed the money! It's truly amazing what a sham that whole thing was, and there seem to be no ramifications. People are just numb from hearing so many outrageous things coming from this administration.
Colleague in our Norwood, MA has a daughter who was participating in unsanctioned soccer practices and one of her teammates has COVID and is showing symptoms. She and the rest of the team now have to be tested. Americans are looking like complete morons at this point.

There was a pretty funny joke making the Twitter rounds yesterday, that Rush Limbaugh said Americans just need to adapt to living with the Coronavirus and then he used the Donner Party as an example of how that might work. Funny joke, I thought.
But nope, it's real. "Pull up those bootstraps and start eating your family, folks." American Conservatism in 2020 is weird.

The local school district FINALLY saw reason and is delaying the start of the school year by one week, and switching to online classes. COVID cases have been increasing (not at a terrifying rate, but still increasing) and the thought of thousands of kids and teachers cramming into buildings felt like a ticking time bomb.
I guess the irony of the school board meeting remotely via Zoom to discuss whether to open the schools became too great to ignore.

The girlfriend is an elementary school teacher here and her local union is trying to fight the full opening of the schools here. A lot of teachers at her school and in her district are debating walkout due to it.
Slowly seeing a spike in cases here in British Columbia. Mostly due to travellers from the province over coming and from people crossing the border using a loophole. People are allowed to cross if they say they’re travelling through to Alaska, but many are camping and exploring and not actually heading there. Found out its a pretty stiff fine for them for lying.

I found out yesterday that my aunt likely has Covid. Her test came back negative, but she's still showing classic symptoms just under a week later so the chances of a false negative on the test seem pretty high. She lives in rural Ohio right in the middle of the worst per-capita hotspot in the state. What scares me is in the past year she underwent another round of radiation treatments for metastatic breast cancer, so it's likely she's still at least somewhat immune compromised.
My aunt is a saint. She retired from her job as principal at the local elementary school to take a job as the director of a local women's shelter. In 2008 she wrote a letter to the local paper explaining why her devout Catholic faith inspired her to vote for and campaign for Barack Obama, and because of that letter she got death threats for over a year. She could easily have moved away from that place like my dad did the first chance he got, but she felt she could do more good if she stayed and she was almost certainly right. And now she's likely sick from a disease we could have beaten by now if not for the selfish fucking assholes who think masks are a sign of weakness and that the whole virus is a hoax invented by the Jews to bring down their God Emperor.
She's the first family member of mine to contract Covid, assuming the test was a false negative which sounds extremely likely. Fuck every single worthless fucking asshole who refuses to wear a simple piece of cloth over their face for 20 minutes when they go to the store. Fuck every single person who can't sacrifice a meal at goddamn Applebee's. Fuck the leaders who insist on sending kids back to school because hey, kids have strong immune systems and they probably won't get sick. Fuck everyone who didn't take this shit seriously five fucking months ago when we still had a good shot at beating back a full-blown pandemic. Just fuck everything.

SK, I read about the hefty fines. Considering they could be carrying something that can kill another person, the fines should be astronomical. If they want to play with life so selfishly, they should be ready to feel it the rest of their own. Fuck people whining about freedom and choice when they're so willfully and carelessly stepping on the freedom of others with their crap. They can rot.
OK, I'm sorry about your aunt. Hoping she's got the strength to pull through, and it remains mild. I had 2 negatives, but damn sure had it.
I heard that a guy I used to post with on a board we started 20 years ago died from covid. Haven't heard anything from him in years, but a friend of his let people know. I'm grateful every day that I only sometimes feel like shit after getting it. It's a scary fucking thing.
My wife said there's video of some rancid cunt who had a fit at the Sprouts near our house. I don't know if it was on Nextdoor or YT, but I'll have to see if I can find the dude anywhere. Just watched it. What a cunt. His sons were with him and one ended up carrying the dumb fuck out. He was screaming that everyone was wearing a doily on their face, that it's all a hoax, tried to start a fist fight with some people, and pushed over some stuff on the way out. Fucking children, just like their rapist orange idiot christ.
I'm getting tired of being nanny to selfish fucking fucks. They come in with a mask and immediately push it under their nose or chin. I've gotta wear one 8 or 9 hours. They can't be selfless and mature enough to handle it for 5-30 minutes. Pieces of shit. So I don't have any issue reminding them it helps no one wearing it that way. I'm over worrying about feelings. I'm over worrying about them trying to get me fired over it. And now on top of being a mask cop, we are majorly impacted by the coin shortage. We can't get coins now. So we ask for exact change, round up and donate to the food bank, or use a card. People are getting all fucking "muh freedumbz!" about that, too. Christ.

How's everyone doing? Has your aunt made it past the dangers, OK?
I had a recurrence last week for a couple of days, just kind of pushed through.
Seeing fewer people out wearing masks except where they absolutely have to. Took one of the cars for an oil change last weekend and only 1 of the employees was wearing a mask. Crowds are growing. Coming home last night there were about 25 cars parked around a house in the neighborhood. Winter is going to be scary and depressing. They're saying over 400K estimated dead by year's end. We'll hit that 2 million republicans are so excited about by spring now, I'm guessing. They want to sacrifice people so they can continue to be selfish and thoughtless in their warped illusion of "normal". And 2 million seems to be both acceptable and magical, in that they think it will just stop there, since they've been promised miracle ending after miracle ending by the dope and his dupes. Like it's some cutoff valve and no one can possibly get sick after that number is hit. You know, like 15 and then down to 1 and then nothing.
2 fucking million is an okay abstract because they don't expect to know a single one of the dead.
Reminded me the other day, we won't get to do the holidays with family this year.
And I'm about to snap with people who wear a mask under their nose, or hanging from one ear, or who pull the goddamn thing down every fucking time they want to talk. And those are the worst because they always inevitably lean in to speak, too. I'm finding it very hard to be civil anymore when proud ignorance and spiteful disregard are on such constant display. Dear god, let's hope there's not a YT of me someday screaming at fucking retards without masks in public.
