Three weeks ago, a kid wearing no mask at my physical therapist's office walked right past me to get to a piece of equipment. He snuck up on me. It made me super uncomfortable. I told my therapist who said they're now requiring masks. Today he had one, but he was wearing it with his nose exposed so he could breathe during exercises and stuff. I get that. I genuinely do. Today was the hottest day of the year in the DC area. He almost did that shit again. He got within about three feet of me, and I told him I would appreciate it if he walked around instead of walking past me. What I really wanted to say was, "Pretend there's a deadly virus going all around the world and that one of us might have it and stay the fuck away from me." *groan*

We're Arizona. We're dumb. Maybe half of the people I interact with wear masks, much less bother with any kind of distancing. And a lot of those with masks have them under the nose or all the way off more than not. Inside of a minute I'll see them raise and remove a mask 2 or 3 times. We now have to be referees for the people who start fighting when one has a problem with another for not giving a goddamn.
Infringe, my ass. I remember Kabong getting all haughty about the meaning of that word when it came to precious guns. It's probably his safe word. These cunts infringe on my life and rights, and those of others with their thoughtless, selfish, conspiracy-driven, self-imposed retardation and wouldn't understand the irony of it if they got shot in the fucking face over it.

Three weeks ago these people were screaming in the faces of police because their state was locked down and they couldn’t go to Applebee’s. Today those same people are wondering why all these uppity folks marching in the streets can’t just do what they’re told.
Maybe I’m painting with too broad a brush, but I don’t care because fuck them.

That brush is a Bob Ross 2" flat and it works just fine.
I made the mistake of lamenting the war against America by its president on a guitar forum. One guy is a fascist from Sweden that digs that kind of domination by government on things that make him feel icky. Another is a Trumper who is uncomfortable having a discussion about race equality in America and implored us to get back to important things like gear and music.
And all the while we have covid charging up the charts to keep it's single at #1. A lot of states are spiking hard right now.

“Get back to talking about music”
Great idea. Start with Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke.

Yeah...so what I've been saying about Arizonans. It's super spike time, ICUs are filling and our state has told hospitals to activate their emergency plans. And the citizens are saying it's all a ploy to make money. Cool.

Got a call from HR this morning to say an employee tested positive for corona. Not like I don't know who it is, since he's been on LOA for 2 weeks. But it was still a little jarring, though not surprising. We're high exposure. Asymptomatic, so, not sure how he got a test since we still can't.

Second wave has begun. White House says there's "no emergency," so you know this shit is gonna be really bad. You guys be vigilant and stay safe.

Getting real sick of hearing about the "2nd wave" of COVID. There is no second wave, this is still the first wave regaining strength because Americans are selfish morons who couldn't stand not going to goddamn Applebee's for a few months. Fucking MAGA snowflakes.

What gets me are the dopes who put on a mask and wear it under their nose. They're doing absolutely nothing but showing they're only pretending they understand and care what's going on. And because they have to wear one to get into some places they grudgingly have to go.

I actually saw one of the doctor's office workers do it. Mind boggling.

I get that it can be a drag. But I wear one 5 days a week 8-10 hours a day, and at a drive-thru if I go to one, and anytime I get out of the car and go into anyplace, which I limit greatly.
Got a lecture today about how I'm killing myself by wearing one by a crone who had rubber gloves on that were dirtier than a rabbit that a bear used to wipe its ass. She must take them off each day and reuse them. It was disgusting, and he paper mask was more brown then blue anymore. And she was only wearing that stuff because most of the places she goes require masks. Gloves are not even a good idea for the most part.
Much more tired of the anti-intellect crowd who'd rather make this about anything other than what it simply, actually is, than I am tired of wearing a mask and staying cautious.

Our idiot of a Trumpsucking governor must've realized how badly he fucked up and is now going to so graciously allow cities to make their own rules, so Pima County is likely to mandate masks to be worn. That way he can still look good for his idiot master but let smarter people handle things and take the heat from the rabble who don't know the first thing about their Constitution.

I still can't quite get over the fact that this country decided a pandemic was over because we got bored, and then just shrugged off huge spikes in reported cases.

Been feeling extra worn out since Saturday. Woke up today with a cough and heavy chest. Dizzy. Headache. Taste and smell are highly diminished. No fever this morning, but my temp has risen by a degree since this morning and I'm not doing anything. Could still be a cold.
It's kinda like the Langoliers where they eat the food and drink the beer and it's flat and bland. Nothing that should be really strong in flavor is, and smells are weak. I get the sugary and salty and pick up on pepper and stuff, but flavors are overall pretty flat and dull.

Dr. felt my symptoms were pointing strongly that way. Test comes back in 2-3 days.

Two guys I work (in their late 20s/early 30s) with almost certainly had Covid back in March. They were never tested but the symptoms were all there, they quarantined for 2 weeks, etc etc. They both said they felt like shit for a few days but the worst of it didn't last much longer than that.
Stay safe and healthy buddy, however it turns out.

Test was negative, but I'm not really in a position to believe it. Still have a mild fever, coughing, achy, headaches, trouble breathing easily, and get fatigued fast. Taste goes in and out. Couple factors make me think it's not accurate: the tech swabbed my nose for about 2 seconds, and I had really only had symptoms for a day. Apparently the swab is supposed to be turned around for 10-15 seconds and one done in each nostril.
I looked at other locations that are testing and they're full for days. I have to live under the premise that I have it and will just go from last weekend forward. :/

Depending on the test, they have a false negative rate between 5%-15%. The antibody tests are even worse. But, you're exactly right. It's the same thing I did back in March: Act like you have it and stay the fuck away from people for a couple weeks, all while staying vigilant in case things get REALLY bad. I can recommend some cartoons and other shit (Community) to binge on Netflix if you're interested. I think I sort of did over in the Watching thread. (The Dragon Prince is better than She-Ra, BTW).

Flu I had back in Feb ticked all the same boxes Frin. Did multiple tests since and the first one came up as influenza b the rest negative. That fucker was the worst flu I ever had. Lost 25ish pounds in two weeks from only being able to stomach a jello cup every two days and pretty much living in my bathroom.
Gotten a couple tests done since this all started. My mom and her husband need me to run groceries to them since their small town’s basically in shutdown mode. Rather be tested and not spread it to somewhere thats almost a retirement community.

I'm long overdue for another major case of flu. The last really bad one I had was over 10 years ago, and it was a doozy. Think the bathroom scene in Dumb & Dumber, but puking into a trash can at the same time. It was definitely the flu and not food poisoning because it knocked me on my ass for a week. I've gotten a flu shot every year since then, and so far I haven't gotten sick.
I'm still wearing a mask whenever I'm out in public. Still not going to restaurants. Hanging out with friends & family is done in small groups, usually outside. I'd love nothing more than to go back to a normal life, but these assholes who refuse to wear a mask are making it worse for everybody else. Thanks assholes, I hope you all get COVID-20 while the decent people who got COVID-19 through no fault of their own get healthy again soon.
