If you didnt enjoy "Sherlock Holmes" then I fear you view movies the way gynecologists view vaginas, with a clinical detachment and looking for flaws, I view movies the way a drunken frat boy views p-ssy, head first and with popcorn That's cool, you keep on f-ckin that pussy frat boy, just remember, that the chick it's attached to isn't wearing a bicycle helmet because she just arrived at the party.... she's retarded.

I read somewhere that Richard Kelly ('Donnie Darko' Director) doesn't really know what it's about.

See... this is what I think, but Laton apparently watched another version of the movie which makes sense :-p That, or he is from another planet on a higher plane of existence/intelligence from the rest of us. I've put it back on my netflix- to torment the brother with, and give it one more go on trying to understand it, but I'm very, very hesitant on this one.

"How to Train Your Dragon 3D"- 9.5/10
The best animated movie in years. The best $12.50 you'll spend in some time. An instant classic.
This isn't just a movie, it is a RIDE. Literally. Like a ride at Disney World or at Six Flags.
"Dragon" is fresh, smart, and heartwarming. The 3-D is awesome; the water looks so real and the ships look like they are coming right at you. Then there are the "flight" scenes...
And here's where the "ride" aspect comes in to play. I don't want to spoil it but the two scenes with Hiccup (and Astrid) and Toothless are truly breathtaking. You feel like you are actually riding these tremendous beasts.
This is a true movie-going experience; why we all fall in love with the medium.
This is a must see. I can't believe it came in 3rd at the box office this past weekend (and really an EMBARRASSMENT for whoever chose "Why Did I Get Married Too?" over "Dragon"). Don't miss it.

What kind did you use?
Most brands I do not like at all, others are better than the weed I get around here. By far, the best stuff I've ever tried (real stuff wise) came from SoCal. That stuff was the bee's knees. ;D
I highly recommend you try a brand called 'SuperNova' or another that goes by the name 'Blaze' (try the blueberry flavor).
Whatever you do, stay away from 'Serenity Now' cause that sh-t sucks bad.

Just got Ichi the killer on Blu-Ray, unrated edition ;D 9 1/2 -10 I love this film I think that Takashi Miike is the most brilliant director to have ever spun vulgarity into high-art. Now I can pass on my pal code 3 DVD, which I purchased special order from Japan more than seven years ago. This film also has one of my favorite trailers

Ha, two completely different directors, cultures, geographical regions on the map. I suppose they were both of the Asian persuasion though, so I can see your comparison.
Old boy was okay, but for Korean cinema nothing beats Thirst, I also like sympathy for Mrs. and Mr. vengeance.
But I think Chan-wook Park, is yet another modern marvel of aggressive cinema.

I love the "Vengeance" flicks, I just never really cared for "Oldboy". "Ichi The Killer" is just.....I dunno I just don't see the big deal. I don't know I think it's that you just don't usually see films this dark and grotesque so laden with subtext and depth, it's really the same for all of his films, it's sort of like if David Lynch smashed into Quentin Tarantino (and their blood and guts just rained down on an orgy).

I enjoyed Oldboy. IMO.
I watched some of the Fourth Kind again.....hah. Inspired me to make a REAL Alien Abduction movie...which i'll show tomorrow.
Anyhoo...Signs. I LOVE this movie. It's still the scariest i've ever seen. Laugh at me, fine. But Aliens scare the fuck outta me.
I mean Greys and shit, not Xenos.

I dunno. I haven't liked a David Lynch flick since "Wild At Heart". Yeah but one thing I've noticed about you is you don't really seem to go for a lot of the art-house films. (grind house on the other hand ;D ) So I don't think it's so much that these are bad films in your critique, as it is they're just not in your interest. I think the litmus test for this would be, how do you feel about Atom Egoyan. I personally think that he is one of the most underrated and brilliant writer directors ever to have worked in the industry. I have loved every single one of his films, but I can also see where his pacing subtext and style would put a lot of people off.

There are quite a few 'art-house' films I like, I just don't like these. I like an actual story. A story with a beginning, a middle and an end. This is my primary reasoning behind my dislike of pretty much everything Cormac McCarthy has ever written. Yeah yeah I don't care about that I was really just f-cking with you, and then asking you how you feel about Atom Egoyan ;D ;D ;D By the way not liking films/books because they don't follow a classical storytelling arc is in fact opinion (preference), and not critique Alright I'm going to slip into my knockwurst persona here, do I smell enough like marijuana and 7-Eleven nachos...here it goes, can we have a discussion about this legendary director.

"Up in the Air"- 8.8/10
I really enjoy these true to life, "Sideways"-type dramedys. Good acting from everyone; Clooney, Rose from "Two and a Half Men", and J. Jonah Jameson. I also like Jason Reitman.
This score would have been higher but there is just so many things going on. Like...
Expectations as our lives shift.
Marriage? Pros and Cons.
Following one's dreams. Legitimate or bullshit?
I've been thinking about this movie all day and I'm still trying to rationalize resolution for some of the characters but I don't think there is any and I think that is the point. Good flick.

"How To Train Your Dragon", hands down the best movie so far of 2010, I enjoyed every minute of the whole thing. The music, the CG, the acting, the story. Absolute perfection. This is what movies are, this is why I see movies. 10/10

Boondock Saints: unrated edition 7-1/2 out of 10
Boondock Saints 2: all Saints Day 7 out of 10
So of course I saw the first one many years ago, but I went back and watched it again in its new Blu-Ray unrated transfer, and for a low-budget action film that had more than its share of Hollywood-drama, the film still stands up as a fun little 90s Quentin Tarantino-wannabe-throwback.
The sequel was quite simply more of the same, it was fun to watch with a bunch of friends. Although a little bit unsure of itself and awkward towards the beginning, the film came into its own around 20 minutes in, and pretty much kept up the pace until the end.
I enjoyed it for what it was. There were more than enough things in there that reminded me of mid-to-late 80s style action flicks, like Tango&Cash, and the bad guys were often laughably bad actors trying their hardest to channel Robert De Niro and or Al Pacino, they were all reminiscent of the antagonists in the new punisher film, not really there for any other reason than target practice.
But the heroes on the other hand, whether newcomers are old hat, where interesting, fun, charismatic, and more often than not garnered quite a few laughs. DING DONG MOTHER F-CKERS Clifton Collins Jr. was definitely a high point similar to how Willem Dafoe stole the show in the first film. Clifton seems to be the bright spot in a lot of films these days, and I think is one good role away from garnering himself "cult" status.

"The Collector", no story that really exists. I find it very disgusting, a lot of unnecessary shots of blood and images of cut up limbs. It doesn't even deserve a review, its total crap, horrible movie.

It doesn't even deserve a review, its total crap, horrible movie. 0/10 This movie had such potential- the storyline that someone tries to take advantage of a situation, but someone else already has before they got there, etc etc- however... poorly executed... insanely poorly executed. So many situations that couldn't/wouldn't happen. Ever seen a stupid scene in a horror movie you thought wouldn't happen in real life?! They've included it in this POS, and then some! Torture porn is about all it amounts to. I have a strong stomach, and even I've had to turn away from the screen several times. Agree with the above rating 0/10. I don't walk out on movies in a theater, but this one I might just have.

Christ, I just read a very thorough synopsis of 'The Collector' and it sounds horrible. Nothing but a gross-out movie. Reminds me of when I was about 8 and we'd sit around the lunch table at school trying to come up with the grossest, most elaborate and painful ways to torture a person or die. It truly sound like this movie took every single idea like that, threw them in a blender, drank it, then simultaneously puked and shit out the mixture and filmed it.

I prefer to think of it as "home alone 4" like if McCauley Culkin's character got a taste for blood and continued to set up traps for burglars in people's homes. Seriously watch it right after home alone 1,2 and 3... it will fit perfectly, largely because the traps get progressively more violent through that series.
