I really like how many unknowns are in that cast, but I'm a little disappointed the rumor about Lupita Nyong'o turned out to be false. Still, this is shaping up really well. I expect them to announce the movie's title and some character names at SDCC this summer.

Do you think Serkis will be in a costume, mocap, or live action? Or multiple roles with a combination of those?
Do you think Von Sydow will be a villain or a force for good?
I'm guessing Serkis will be a mocap creature/character and Sydow will be a villain. It would be cool to see them not do the obvious, though. Maybe Serkis in a Chewie or R2D2 type role. Live action costume. Whatever his role, it has the potential to be a new icon.

I had to Google some of those names, so here they are: Domhnall Gleeson From Harry Potter, and guaranteed to play Thom Yorke if they ever make a movie about Radiohead. John Boyega Attack The Block guy. Daisy Ridley ?? I have no idea who this is. I do a Google search for her name I can't tell which photos are of the actress or some random girl's Instagram.

He was an insane clone of a Jedi Master, obsessed with finding and training new Jedi and wanted Han and Leia's twins as his apprentices. Since nobody knows how much (if any) EU stuff will be used in the sequels, C'baoth would at least be a cool template for a villain and Max von Sydow would be perfect.

I like Adam Driver. "Girls" on HBO is a great show, his character especially.

I look forward to them acting out the great tragedy of selling off the assets of the Empire and its subsidiaries. The new villain will be named Lit'Ig Ator and his force power of Tort will grip the entire Alliance in fear.

Rumor flying around the internets today is that the title of Episode VII will be "The Ancient Fear". People are speculating the title refers to a specific character, like the titles of the first movies in the other trilogies, and that this one is whoever Max Von Sydow is playing. Maybe a long-dead Sith Lord like Darth Plagueis or Darth Bane.
But then again this rumor came from Harry Knowles at AICN, so it's almost guaranteed to be bullshit. I'm surprised he didn't tell people the movie's called "Star Wars Episode VII - Cake and Pie".

I finally finished season 1 of The Clone Wars. It didn't exactly end on a climactic note, there were a few episodes with nearly identical plots, and Jar Jar destroying armies by slipping on things will never be good, but I love it. I've always been in the minority of people who think CG animation is awesome back since War Planets, Max Steel, and Roughnecks: Starship Troopers, and there's never been a better computer animated series than this; or even one close to it. It actually makes all the prequel stuff cool because it uses it well in smaller contained stories that are loaded with character development and great action. And the clones are awesome! They're like the colonial marines of the Star Wars universe.

I love how the CG Anakin gave a better performance than the one in the prequels. And James Arnold Taylor does a perfect Obi-Wan impression.

I know! The animated characters have so much more life than their live-action counterparts. It's the same elements from the prequels but everything is so much more fun and likeable, and the stories are much more interesting. Lucas really screwed the pooch. At least this somewhat makes up for it.

Season 2 episode 5 was one of the best ones yet, a whole episode of kickass battles on Geonosis. Those are my favorites.

Finished season 2. That's not the last we see of Aurra Sing, is it? I've thought she was awesome since the Star Wars: Demolition game lol, and this was definitely her best appearance yet. Kid Boba Fett is still kind of hard to buy and I'm not feeling his crisis of conscience, but teaming him up with her and Bossk was a very cool idea and I really enjoyed that arc overall. The clone trooper stuff is still my favorite aspect though because I've always found stories that follow the grunts much more compelling. That first arc of season 3 that followed the squad through training was one of the best yet.

I had a similar reaction to Clone Wars. Parts of it are incredibly cool, with surprising gravitas and darkness, but then the next episode will be Jar Jar stumbling around like a retarded blind person. It's a bit jarring (jarjarring?), but once the show really found its stride midway through season 2 it got easier to overlook the dumb stuff because the cool stuff was done so well. Although there is a long arc of episodes in season 5 (it's about droids, you'll know it when you get there) that just felt interminable, but that was probably just because I wanted the show to get back to the Darth Maul storyline.
All in all though the show reinforces what I like about the prequels and explains some of the stuff that didn't work. It doesn't turn those movies into masterpieces or anything, but it makes parts of them a bit more palatable. And without spoiling anything, the way they handled the Ahsoka problem was perfect. The problem with telling stories that fit into a much larger, already finished story and then introducing a major character that nobody ever mentions ever again is that you have to get rid of them eventually. Everyone expected it and knew something had to happen with that character, and the way they handled that conundrum was brilliant, respectful of the character who had grown a lot over the 5 seasons, and also reinforced the more stubborn traits of the Jedi that the prequels didn't do a good enough job of tackling. It was a tricky maneuver that they nailed perfectly.

It was a tricky maneuver that they nailed perfectly. Yeah, the prequels attempted to cover way too much ground. Now I see that there were genuinely awesome ideas in there, but we barely got the cliff notes so it didn't feet like they progressed organically or sometimes even logically. The presentation helps a lot too, little things I found underwhelming, boring, or pointless in the movies like the floating platforms in the senate are cool when they aren't shoved in your face and overpowering the scene. As a casual Star Wars fan, I think The Clone Wars is my favorite Star Wars thing now, the focus on traditional grunts and use of computer animation makes it the most up my alley. But yeah, that's the main question that comes to mind when watching this story unfold, are the Jedi just totally wrong about everything?

The Jedi are the stubborn religious fundamentalists of the Star Wars universe. It's not that they're wrong, but that they're too convinced of their own rightness. Towards the end of season 5 of Clone Wars that becomes extremely apparent for reasons I won't spoil.
