I'd like to see SW movies or tv shows in different genres. It would be cool to have a Film Noir set in the SW universe, following a bounty hunter, or a horror movie following regular people in a terrifying situation. Imagine something like Tremors, Pitch Black, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, The Descent, Hellraiser or even something involving creepy legends like The Ring or Candyman but set in the SW universe. Even a sitcom would be cool, I think.

This article on LucasArts' internal chaos in its final years is fascinating and enlightening. You won't believe what George wanted to name Starkiller. www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2014/02/12/fall-of-the-empire-how-inner-turmoil-brought-down-a-legendary-studio.aspxI don't give Free Radical any benefit of the doubt though, I don't think Battlefront III ever had a chance, they were just lucky to get that contract before Haze showed they were completely out of their depth with last gen's technological upgrade. The Force Unleashed II had plenty of potential though, I still haven't played it yet due to its short length and bad reception; it's interesting to finally hear why it turned out that way. And I'm posting this second, because I found out about it later and it I wouldn't want to completely overshadow that great article. But this is big news, Netflix is pulling an "Arrested Development" with Clone Wars and airing another season:I'm excited to try this series out after the reactions I've heard on here.

I'm planning on resubscribing to Netflix after I move this summer, so that's great news about Clone Wars.
And I'm almost finished watching the "Complete" Series Blu-ray box set. Like all Star Wars stuff, some of it's really good, some of it's really bad, and some of it is just so-so. Some of the supporting characters they came up with for the show are really great, especially Hondo Ohnaka. Anytime Hondo shows up you know you're in for a good episode.

Maybe Lucas just does things to Spielberg in a way Kate Capshaw never could.

Just finished watching the last season. Some of the best episodes yet. Still way too many character loose ends though. Hopefully some of which are tied up in REBELS. Jedi council looks even more inept than before. Its kinda sad. This is the last time we will see most of these characters

I haven't watched the new Clone Wars episodes yet, but I'm really glad they aren't ignoring the ineptitude of the Jedi. That was a really important plot point of the prequels, but it was really only ever hinted at. It's one of the things prequel-bashers like to point to in their criticism ("The Jedi were morons who got taken by surprise and that sucks!"), but that was kind of the whole point all along. The Jedi were so convinced of their own awesomeness that not only do they not see it coming when they get stabbed in the back, but they're too proud to admit that their powers are decreasing. Pride before the fall and all that.

I watched the first four episodes of Clone Wars and so far I love it! I've been a fan of non-cutesy CG movies/series since forever, and since Spirits Within's commercial failure they've been a real rarity. Yeah, this has all ages appeal, but it's darker and more badass than the usual Pixar affair. I watched the Clone Wars movie a couple years ago and don't remember any of it but I was bored to tears. The stories here have been immediately engaging and action-packed. I really like the Clone troopers, and how they're given more unique personalities than you'd expect, that seems to go against them turning on the jedi like mindless drones in Revenge Of The Sith but I guess that will make more sense later in the series. The prequels really skipped over so many things that could've made us care, the characters are already more compelling after two hours of Clone Wars. The better directing helps a lot too.

I'm not sure what to make of this announcement. Lucasfilm says everything released from now on will be canon-only, no new expanded universe things from this point forward. To maintain that, a group of writers will oversee every single Star Wars thing, movies, novels, shows, games, comics, etc. to keep it all in line. I'm a casual Star Wars fan and even I'm thinking this is a very bad thing. It seems like that greatly limits the creative freedom Star Wars spinoff stuff has had all these years.

It makes sense for business though, the next fifty or so years of star wars canon is already lock in the pages of dozens of books, and as much as we love those stories, they have to be pushed aside in order for more movies to be made. They will be pulling stuff from Legendary Star Wars (as its called now) but they are kind of free to revamp and rework things. Which kind of sucks, the EU gave life to some real good characters and now those characters dont exist in same capacity as we all love them. Here's a list of things that are no longer consequential in Star Wars as interpreted by me abd a friend through text messages
Darth Bane and the rule of two... It never happened. Lumiya, Mara Jade, Ben Skywalker, jacen, jaina, Anakin. Hell Leia and Han aren't even married. Oh, one more thing... Darth Krayt is no more, no Darth talon
Outrider and dash rendar, xizor, moldy crow, Jan and Kyle. Gone. Nom anor never infiltrated the galaxy. THRAWN! He never was. There are no chiss. There is no new Jedi order. Luke doesn't remake it. The ssi-ruuk never invaded and neither did the vong. Shit! There are no mandos!
Also boba fett never survived the sarlacc and plaqueis isnt Palpatines master

Everything that takes place before Return of the Jedi still happened, except for the stuff overwritten by the prequels and the Clone Wars show. The Thrawn trilogy, Dark Empire, Yuuzhan Vong invasion, Legacy, Chewie's death, Darth Caedus, none of that is canon anymore. But none it was ever really canon anyway as far as future movie were concerned, and all my copies still exist so the stories are still there. Plus, who's to say Thrawn and Mara Jade won't be in the new trilogy in some capacity? Whoever is in this new "story group" obviously knows how beloved lots of the EU is, so they'd be smart to salvage bits of it.
It doesn't bother me that much. The reality of a JJ Abrams-directed Episode VII is too awesome to be overshadowed by this news.

Good. I hated the EU anyway.
They'll probably save Fett because Fett brings in money, but getting rid of all that nonsense was for the best. It's too convoluted and boring anyway. I wish they would get rid of the Prequels too, but can't win 'em all.
But the nerd rage is really, really funny. I mean, I can understand disappointment, but man...it was never really canon in the first place. Lucas was just too lazy to give a shit.

Also, people are now getting done with Star Wars and calling Lucas a hack? Really? Man, I was done with Star Wars in 2008. The lack of respect to the originals was the final nail in the coffin. The Blu Rays were funny to see how deluded Lucas is.

Some EU stuff made it into the prequels. Coruscant first appeared in the Thrawn trilogy in 1991, Aayla Secura was a character in the comics that Lucas liked so he put her in Episode II, Quinlan Vos from the comics is mentioned briefly in Episode III, and the mural/sculpture in Palpatine's office is based on the history of the Sith established in the books years earlier.
But I don't disagree that Lucas lost his marbles at some point. The pointless futzing with the OT is proof of that.
