Be sure to dial your expectations down before you read Brightest Day... Is it that bad or just different? Only really getting it due to having some credit at a comic shop and can get all 3 of the trades for bout 30 bucks

It's a lot different. Just don't go in expecting a direct sequel to Blackest Night, even though a few plot threads do carry over. More than anything it just serves to set up a lot of new series, and then the DC relaunch made it all very confusing.

Look what I got today! I like the Frank Quitely cover the best. Zombie Granny is cool. And as for the comic itself... man, that was rough.

I ordered all 7 "Hitman" trades. I don't normally get the trades when I already have all the original issues, but "Hitman" is one of the most under-appreciated comics of the 90s and I wanted to do my part for the sales numbers.

Got the Trade of Rage of the Red Lantern.. love me some Red Lantern goodness Good to see some love for the Red Lanterns. I know, its kinda odd.. outta the new 52, in my area at least, They are the ones not selling, same with that trade.. was easy to find. Figure wise, only one I'm missing is the Blackest Night Atroticus and the SDCC Red Lantern Hal Jordan.

Thanks! I got the set for $75. Is that a good deal??
I decided to go on a little road trip today an stopped at a few comic shops. One had several boxes in the back that hadn't been priced out yet. I start browsing through them quickly and started noticing some key issues! Thats when I started over and looked through all 8 boxes carefully. I found those two and these are some of the others found off the top of my head: Incredible Hulk 2, Ghost Rider 1, Conan 1, Beast 11, Sub-Mariner 2, and many more!

Fudge. If the quality is as good as it looks on those, you got a great deal. Go look at eBay. The least amount 121 is going for - in poor shape - is around what you paid for both.

^The covers are great, but I read the first issue and it wasn't funny at all. And it didn't seem like it was trying to be serious. I don't know what to make of it but I'm gonna check out the rest.

My LCS got a bunch of old books in! Should I consider trading Spider-Man 121 or 122 (or both) for X-Men 8 (1st app. of Unus)

I liked how it wasn't trying to be slapstick and the cover artist is one of my fave's I'll have to double check but in the second or third one it says something about him not being as funny

OH WHAT!? You're collecting Doom 2099, too? I was just scouring my city's comic shops for the issues I'm missing! Awesome man! Cool, I didn't even know about the 2099 Special.
Cool, I don't have to be jealous. I just checked the issues I'm missing and I have all the ones you bought, with the exception of #16.

The special isn't quite what I thought. It's sort of a "behind the scenes" type book. Still kind of interesting, though. I only had #1 and #25 of Doom 2099 when I decided to start collecting the rest of the series. I went to the huge Labor Day flea market in the neighboring county and found several issues.

Yeah, I had no idea, either until I managed to grab a near complete set of the first half of the series at Wondercon. I don't like the redesign of his mask that Warren Ellis commissioned, though. It has no nose.
