Coldplay track was pretty wack, it'll probably be great in a movie though. First heard their song 'Warning Sign' in some Zach Braff movie and have been sobbing over it ever since. 2nd vid wasn't a song at all WTF man, I sat through that whole thing WTF!?

STEVEMCQUEEN! I recently fell in love with Skrillex. He's playing in my city this Friday, but me and the lady couldn't nab tickets. I was sad.

Because watered-down corporate rock isn't for everyone, here's an indie band people probably haven't heard:
Tammar, from my stomping grounds of Bloomington, Indiana. They're really great live.

But in all honesty, I do still like the first Coldplay album. After that one they stopped sounding genuine, and just started to piss me off.

My brother's band just played on Jimmy Fallon's show. Here is the video for their new single.

I like that Battles song a lot, never heard it before. Hell, I didn't realize Gary Newman had done anything after "Cars". And I just found out about Skrillex last week from this awesome song and video:

I love that Kanye track, especially Nicki Minaj's verse. I was completely obsessed with it last winter.

Definitely check out Ratatat. Nice beats, amazing driving music. You'd be surprised how easily you zone out into the music and how fast your trip goes. Nine beats is an amazing album If you like that, take a gander to LP3 after.

Nice banner ginormousthumbs!
I like this thread. Another way it can work is if people like one song in a genre they don't really listen to much or by an artist they don't know much about, they can get suggestions from others who know more about them.
F'r instance, I really like the band Metric. I just discovered them kinda recently. However, there' a lot of songs by them that I don't like. Mostly the ones off of the album Grow Up And Blow Away (I think that's what it's called). They sound like the kind of stuff that one would hear in a girl clothing store at the mall. I really like their more upbeat songs like Black Sheep from the Scott Pilgrim soundtrack or Gimme Sympathy. Anyone else here like them? And if so, can you recommend other songs or artists that are similar to the songs by them that I like?
If you haven't heard them before, here's my favorite ones:

Some really cool bands getting mentioned in here, great thread McQueen!
Devo - Your brother is in Blitzen Trapper??? Black River Killer and Furr are some seriously great songs. I caught them at Bonnaroo last year and loved their set. They just played Nashville again last month and I was bummed i wasn't able to make it out for their show.

Happy to have him home in a week. If you haven't heard the new record it is my personal favorite of theirs.
