Went to Gary Glark Jr's concert last night, hands down one of the best shows Ive ever been to. Dude was on stage for over two hours and tore the house down. Saw the set list and he played five extra songs... Fully reccomend him live if you're a fan of blues/rock/soul/gospel.

^ Dude, the fucking tone on that Epi is fantastic. Great song. Solo almost has a Zappa free-form flow to it.
I knew of them at the time in the early 80s, but only recently got into Zebra. Like, into. Damn, good stuff.
And I've also gotten into Animals As Leaders. It's 2 guys playing fatneck 8-string guitars and a kickass drummer. Shitty beans, they're fun.

Saw Alabama Shakes live last night. Hells fucking bells it was amazing. Band was a tight unit and front woman Brittnay Howard was a hurricane of soul. If you havent seen them live and they come near you, fully recommend checking them out

New At The Drive-In out May 5th!
After dropping one of the best albums of the early 2000's and then immediately splitting up into The Mars Volta and Sparta, I never thought we'd get another ATDI album. From the 2 singles released so far, it sounds exactly like the follow up I've always wanted.

The new At The Drive-In album has dropped. I was pretty psyched because not only did the album exceed my expectations to the point that it's all I've listened to since its release, but I posted my review the night of release and got a thanks from Cedric Bixler-Zavala himself. Here's my review: Bixler's comment and my nerdy fanboy response: And the video for "Hostage Stamps": Do yourself a favor and check out this album in its entirety. It's so fucking good.

Just got home from seeing Dead Cross tonight. It's a hardcore-ish band composed of Mike Patton (nearly every goddamn band ever by this point), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), and the guitar player and bassist from Retox. The album is superb, and the show was fucking awesome. Fairly short, the album is only 27 minutes long, and they played for about 45. Fun stuff. They came back for 1 quick song, and dedicated it to the Alt-Right. It was "Nazi Punks Fuck Off" by the Dead Kennedys. The opener was a band from Mexico called Silent. They weren't too bad. Tons of energy and a good stage presence. The bass player was one of the crabbiest fucking players I've ever seen. He got so low he was practically doing splits. LOL The middle performer was fucking annoying. He was an electronic musician calling himself Author & Punisher. It was a nearly unbroken 45 minutes of angry bedroom dirges with whooshing and revving and him screeching about fire and fuck if I know what. Asshole.

I've been going back to listen to Retox, the band the Dead Cross bass player was the singer of, and the guitar player, Mike Crain, who is my latest guitar hero. Fucking killer.
Brutal.

Whenever a band releases new music after such a long hiatus I always get a little nervous, and 13 years is a loooooong time. That was 3 Spider-Mans ago. But this track fits right in with Lateralus and 10,000 Days.

Been really into these guys, Me And That Man. Its a bluesy/gospel/country side project for Nergal, the frontman of Polish Black Metal band Behemoth. Can’t wait for their second album to be released.

Anyone not listening to the stuff (5 songs) Danny Elfman has been putting out in the last year leading up to his new album in June is missing the fuck out. His covid quarantine has been very good for his brilliant and beautifully fucking demented mind. Also, he's pushing 70 and looks like he could make The Rock tap out.
Also also, Tomahawk just released a new one and it's fantabulous.

I've been obsessed with the new St. Vincent album since it came out a couple weeks ago. The whole thing has a great 70s groove to it with her almost mimicking different 70s icons on different tracks. She'll be trying some Bowie here and some Patti Smith there, and Live In The Dream sounds like her take on Pink Floyd. And I don't even really like Pink Floyd that much.

Don't know that I've heard her music before she was on SNL recently. And she kicked ass all over the place. New fan. I also like that Ernie Ball let her design her own guitar.

She's super cool. I became a fan of hers a few albums ago, and that same year she played "Lithium" with Nirvana at their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction. That put her over the top for me and I was all in.
