My favorite movie, or I guess more accurately, the series that my favorite movie (Aliens) is a part of, now has its own holiday! Appropriately on 4/26, as in LV-426, but everyone on this board is cool enough to not need that explained. Star Wars fans can no longer have all of the sci-fi movie themed holiday fun.
What'd you guys do to celebrate the beginning of this great tradition? Which of the Aliens movies did you watch/comics did you read/games did you play/action figures did you photograph/exclusives did you purchase?
I did take a pic of my Neca Aliens collection. I unfortunately did not have time to watch any of the movies or read any of the comics. I ordered Neca's Kenner throwback Ripley, an exclusive Alien Day t-shirt limited to 426 printings on Fright-Rags.com, and the exclusive Alien 30th Anniversary Loot Crate. I'm about to play a bit of Survival Mode on AvP (2010) to close out the festivities.

BBTS got the first series of the Cinemachines line in stock yesterday, so I ordered those.
And Reebok's contribution to Alien Day was to make a super limited run of Ripley's sneakers from Aliens. Only 426 pairs worldwide, and only 33 for the US. And even more stupidly they didn't make them available in women's sizes. Shoes based on one of the most famous female action characters ever, and they only make them for men. Genius.

I have not heard of this. I failed to celebrate. But I did see the nifty new pic from Alien: Covenant of a person's arm with the Weyland-Yutani logo on it.

I ordered the Return of Superman books off of Amazon for my birthday. Shame it's on a Monday this year.

Totally related. But I think that was a Spawn.com callback.

Huh. I don't remember those days at all.
Except for that dude that swore up and down that The Dark Knight was gonna bomb in theaters and then disappeared in shame.

GuruAskew. Maybe he feels a little redemption with the SuperBats fiasco film. I also remember the porky fella what had him some shiny swap meet swords that threatened to slit someone's trout.

I got my Alien Day exclusive frightrags t-shirt and Neca Kenner Ripley. The smartgun looks great in person but I agree that it doesn't go with the figure, the standard Ripley pulse rifle/flamethrower combo is a better fit, but I can't wait for Vasquez. I never get an extra to keep in the box but I think these throwback figures display better that way. Also, not sure if you can see it in the photo, but if you want to use the awesome McFarlane hive base and not have different sized eggs in your display, you can cut the bottom out of the Neca eggs and they fit right over the smalled McF eggs on the base. All these years I thought the McF eggs were to scale but now the Neca eggs are looking better. Still waiting on the Aliens-themed Loot Crate. Alien Day has been pretty awesome for its first year.

I haven't bought any Hot Toys figures in years, but this one might be tough to pass up. One of the last ones I did buy was the '79 Alien, and I'm a huge sucker for merch from that particular movie (I love Aliens as much as the next guy, but Alien is still my favorite). Jonesy looks fake as hell, though.

Mr. Bigglesworth that came with the McF Dr. Evil looks better. But the Ripley figure is right on. The look on her face is a perfect capture.

The hissing Jonesy that came with one of NECA's Ripleys looks better than the Hot Toys one. I wouldn't be surprised if they fix it before it comes out.

I was remembering yesterday, on Mother's Day, when my mom dropped me off at the movies to see Aliens. Asked to go a little early so I could play at the arcade first. When I tried to buy my ticket, they wouldn't let me. I was 13 or so. So I called my mom to come get me, since they were big meanies. She drove all the way back down to the theater, argued with them a little, then bought 2 tickets, walked me inside the theater and left.

My first Aliens memory also involves my mom. Before my parents had kids my mom was a big horror fan (she tries to deny it, but she still is) and in the mid-late 80s I remember going to a museum that was having a big exhibit on movie special effects. One of the big features in the exhibit was puppets and props from Alien and Aliens, and since I was probably 7 or 8 my mom warned me that the monsters were pretty scary and that I might not want to look. So obviously that was the first thing I wanted to see. They had full scale Alien Queen puppet used in the movie, displayed alongside the power loader. They even had a small section of the Sulaco set with flashing lights and everything. It was awesome. Next to that in a smaller display case was a full scale model of the Alien from the first movie, and that was the one that made an impression on me. The Queen was cool and all, but the normal Alien was human-sized enough to really freak me out, and the smooth eyeless dome on its head along with the inner-jaw thing... it was scary and cool and mysterious and I was hooked. I still didn't see the movies for a few years after that, but I was already a fan of the creatures. I think my mom probably knew what she was doing by warning me away from that stuff. Thanks mom.

Nice.
It was weird, I remember being in 2nd grade, and kids shows up at school with the Alien toy. I was creeped out by it, didn't know where it came from. It was several years later that I realized Alien wasn't just the generic name for the toy.

My momalien memory is one she told me about since I wasn't there. She went to see Alien when it was in theaters with a couple friends and her boyfriend at the time. Her boyfriend slipped her something and told her to ingest it. She did so without knowing what it was. It was acid. This was also before anyone knew what the hell Alien was about. So when the chest burster scene rolled around, it flew out of the screen at her and she began screaming bloody murder and she wouldn't stop. Her friends had to escort her out of the theater. Pretty funny stuff in hindsight.
