Avatar has a simple, derivative story with amazing visuals and genuinely great sci-fi world-building. But it doesn't need 4 sequels.

James Cameron directed two of the best sequels ever made, so we'll see if he can do it again four more times.

Terrible timing. That'd be like if they made a Zombieland sequel this year

Went in to work yesterday for an hour to submit an order and my brain was confused after and thought it was Tuesday, so I went into Target to get the movie and it wasn't anywhere to be found.

Now that I can pause, rewind, and slomo that huge fight scene at the end I've noticed so much stuff going on in the background that I totally missed in the theater.
Every shot has all kinds of stuff going on.

That whole scene is Marvel taking a huge victory lap because they knew they stuck the landing and I love every goddamn second of it.
But it drives me crazy that whenever you pause an MCU Blu-ray (and Star Wars and Pixar and Disney), the chapter title stays in the bottom left corner of the screen. It makes it tough when you want to pause a screen and soak in all the detail.

Maybe this goes into "random thoughts and obersvations," but fanboys who wanted this Disney/Fox acquisition to happen so the X-Men and Fantastic Four would be in the MCU and everything else be damned can go fucking die. I had mentioned, over on another forum, all the people at Fox who have lost and will lose their jobs, and some POS said "worth it." Another POS agreed. Well now art is suffering, because Disney refuses to take risks. A massive slate of in-develpment projects at Fox were canned and so were even more people. Not all of those projects sounded good, but quite a few sounded interesting and different. Those are gone now. Probably for good. The Orville is moving to Hulu, because the ratings declined (they tend to do that) and aren't at mid-90s X-Files levels and some idiot at Disney said, "well CBS has Star Trek Discovery anchoring CBS All-Access, and they'll soon have Picard, so we should move our Star Trek (more Star Trek than Discovery) to Hulu to compete instead of keeping it on the network so more people can watch it because I am an executive with my head up my ass."There is also some question about whether Deadpool will now be PG-13 under Disney's Marvel Studios and I hope those fanboy dipshits are really upset about it and terrified about what will happen to that character. I don't like the idea, and I don't even think I like Deadpool. Even if it's still R-rated, does anyone think Ryan Reynolds will be allowed the creative control under Disney that he had under Fox alone? This entire thing gets worse all the time. And it is not fucking worth it. Would it have been better if Comcast had purchased Fox? I'm starting to lean toward a yes.

I mostly agree. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't excited about having the X-Men and FF in the MCU, but literally everything else about this merger sucks.

Sony’s reaction to the MCU Spidey movies making tons of money is to yank Spidey from the MCU. Nice work. That will in no way backfire spectacularly.

They haven't yanked anything. Like it or not, they own the rights and the agreement that just expired gave Feige creative control, had Sony financing the movies, and Disney got 5% of first day box office profits only. To not want to go from a small fraction to a whopping 50% is totally understandable. Honestly, they'd be pretty stupid to agree to that. And, yeah it may very well backfire, but after Into the Spiderverse, Sony execs have good reason to believe that they don't need Disney or MCU ties to have a successful Spider-Man movie. And if the next live-action Spider-Man makes any more than half what Far From Home made, they'll be right.

I am now seeing fanboy jagoffs advocating for Disney to buy Sony because Tom Holland might not cameo in the new Blade movie. Ivo Shandor was right...

Disney was already getting the merch money from the MCU spidey films which must have been billions and now they want half the box office too.
Yeesh, that's the textbook definition of greed.

Can't really say I'm too upset about there being no more Spider-Boy in the MCU. I haven't seen the new one but I really didn't like Homecoming.

Assuming they can't work out a deal, I at least hope Sony continues the storyline started in Far From Home's post-credits scene. They wouldn't necessarily need to have any major MCU connections to make it work.

Why the fuck would Spider-Man appear in Blade anyway? If anyone should cameo/team-up in Blade it should be Dr. Strange.

Well, Blade was on an episode of the Spider-Man cartoon from the '90s, so that came to mind as a plausible, but stupid and unnecessary cameo for the little fucker. Anyway, put Dr. Strange in Blade and we'd be 2/3 of the way to having the Order of the Triad on the big screen...kind of.

I remember that but he was only there because he was hunting Morbius though. Doubt that'll happen in the movies any time soon.
And I want to see them team up because we'd be that much closer to the Midnight Sons.

fullcirclecinema.com/2019/09/12/marvel-studios-professor-x-magneto-poc/This was trending a while last night, and while there's no real confirmation, and maybe this article isn't based on anything tangible, I wanted to weigh in on it because this came up about a month ago, too. 1. Magneto is already a minority. Changing his origins wouldn't make the cast of the new X-Men movie more diverse, it would make it less so. 2. Sure, there are other Jewish characters in X-Men and Fantastic Four comics who might be coming to the MCU in a few years, but Kitty Pryde and Ben Grimm only happen to be Jewish. Being Jews of Eastern European descent isn't integral to their characters the way it is to Magneto. Changing him would be like making Black Panther Japanese. There's no need to do shit like that, and it would minimize one minority group to elevate another. 3. If Marvel Studios really care about representation, they'll cast a Jewish actor to play Magneto for the first time. Jason Isaacs would be excellent. 4. Who cares how old Magneto is in 2023? This is a fictional universe with time travel, magic, alternate universes, people being resurrected from the dead, and it's about to have an immortal Canadian man with a metal skeleton and claws that come out of his knuckles. 5. Is there some shortage of POC X-Men characters? Maybe they could put Bishop in the movie and actually give him lines, which Fox couldn't be bothered to do. Maybe they can actually write Storm well. Maybe they could include Prodigy, Synch, Bedlam, Anarchist, Darwin, Shard, Tag, Tempest, Cecilia Reyes, and Zazi Beetz as Domino...and since POC doesn't always mean "African" or "Black," they could also include Forge, Sunspot, Dani Moonstar, Arclight, Psylocke, Jubilee, Thunderbird, Warpath, Empath, Rictor. 6. I've never heard fullcirclecinema.com, so maybe they're just talking out of their asses.
