Yeah, because all children who have plastic toys with weapons turn into homicidal maniacs. Plus, of course, the main target audience for adult collectables from R-rated movies are, after all....children.

Well, the Baker was ok...but I have never liked Nat X, so let's compromise: Keep Baker and MCG and dump Nat X and Goatboy. Work for you? The only one I had from series one was Mary Katherine Gallagher, which I gave to my sister. I never saw any of the others in person, but would have liked to own the Baker and Goatboy. As for series 2, Roseanne Roseannadanna, Hans and Franz, and Opera Man would have been great! I would have been great if the line continued further possibly with characters like Wayne Campbell, Garth Algar, Church Lady, Craig & Ariana, Matt Foley, Caveman Lawyer, Beldar Conehead, and so many more I had (I'm not sure if I still have them honestly) all but Nat X. Would have loved series 2, and the possibilities for beyond that were definitely awesome. Wayne & Garth, Church Lady, and the Coneheads would have been sweet.

To finish up NECA..... God of War. Neca was trying to get the license to the new God of War game. They had done figures of the previous release, which were well done. Everyone was expecting NECA to secure the license, but in the end DC Unlimited walked away with the prize. The DC Unlimited versions were less than stellar, unfortunately. My theory is that Sony wanted to see more characters of the game, where NECA tends to only do the main character. It was revealed that NECA may have done a Zues too. Too bad, because this version is vastly superior to the DC Unlimited counterpart. Devil May Cry Dante Not 100% sure what the story was here, so maybe someone else can fill in the blanks. TMNT Shredder Not something i was personally interested in, but the TMNT NECA did were very popular, and fans were waiting impatiently on the next releases. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be.

wait you mean it wasn't a good idea to release April as the test figure to gauge fan reaction to see if the line would continue

like resauras Palisades was another amazing company that died too soon and took with it the prospect of amazing toys, another example was their upcoming sesame street line

While we are talking about Palisades, their most famous line is obviously the Muppets series. The Muppets series had a fantastic run, but interest (and sales) started to decline in later series. All major characters had been covered at that point, but none the less, there were still quite a few series planned, but it had come to the point where sales could no longer support production. here is what was supposed to come out still.... It had come to the point where there was going to be a lot of rehashed characters with a hand full of more obscure muppets. Series 10 Baby Kermit with Baby Piggy Dr. Bob Sal Minella (in three variant colors with Robin and Penguin pack-ins) Uncle Deadly (released separately) Gobo Fraggle with a Doozer (Special Test Figure) Exclusive: Tuxedo Statler Exclusive: Tuxedo Waldorf Series 11 Baby Gonzo with Baby Rowlf Nurse Janice Bobo the Bear Louis Kazagger (in two variant colors) Exclusive: RoboBuster Bunsen Exclusive: RoboBuster Beaker Series 12 Baby Scooter with Baby Fozzie Nurse Piggy with Bean Bunny Mahna Mahna with The Snowths Mulch Exclusive: Vacation Animal Exclusive: Super Gonzo and Rizzo Exclusive: Wonder Pig Exclusive: Vacation Swedish Chef Exclusive: Super Statler and Waldorf Series 13 Patrol Link Hogthrob Dr. Teeth 2 Clueless Morgan Rat Pack Exclusive: Tuxedo Sam the Eagle Series 14 Reporter Gonzo Swamp Kermit Seymour and Pepe Randy and Andy Pig Exclusive: Fozzie as Squire Trelawney (with Mr. Bimbo) Exclusive: Holiday Kermit with Robin the Frog There were also some more playsets planned. The Muppet Theater stage. This was going to be able to attach to the backstage that did come out. It was going to be large enough so that all the other playsets would fit inside of it. Unfortunately, the stage would be simply too big and expensive, and retail was not interested. The backstage was already very big and supposedly not a very good seller. For a mind-blowing custom of the Muppets Stage, CHECK THIS OUT. Other playsets would have been Planet Koozebane, The Electric Mayhem bus, Veterinarians Hospital and the Happiness Hotel. On to the pics of the few prototypes that were being worked on. This is a mockup of the proposed Electric Mayhem bus playset.

Magic the gathering by ResaurusAnother line from Resaurus that never came to fruition. not because of Resaurus going out of business this time, but because of licensing issues. Resaurus had the license, created quite a few prototypes and was gearing up to release series 1, which was going to include Talruum Minotaur, the Orgg (with Goblin Grenade) and Serra Angel. Then a company called Hasbro crashed the party and bought Wizards of the Coast (who was the owner of the MtG license). Hasbro forced the issue and retracted the license extended to Resaurus. Resaurus may have had a case in court, but for such a small company to go up against a behemoth like Hasbro is just suicide, so that was the end of the story. To this day, Hasbro has not done a thing with the Magic the Gathering license. So, if you were ever wondering why there have never been any decent figures from MtG, now you know. THANKS HASBRO! I have the remnants of the December '99 issue of InQuest that mentions the Hasbro purchase of Wizards of the Coast. They also mention the Resaurus Magic figures, which had originally been scheduled to hit that Summer. As we know they never materialized. I have to say they weren't very good figures, and I thought as much back then. I was a Magic player at the time, and I think the same thing now: How may Magic players are actually gonna pick up figures when that money would be better spent on actual Magic cards? Tournament-tier decks aren't cheap endeavors, and I'd not be surprised if Hasbro has the same train of thought. Between that and the rather dubious choice of creatures they decided to depict I won't be surprised if a Magic: The Gathering figure line never materializes.

^^^ I guess we can only speculate about whether or not these figures would actually sell. I think there are plenty of people that are a fan of a certain property and want to own other things that go with said property.
Besides, I think these would also have been popular with people who do not play Magic, much like you see a lot of people pick up the World of Warcraft figures, though they never played the game.
This was right when the action figure boom took off. People were into detailed figures with cool designs. A lot of people picked up Spawn figures because of the creature designs, not because of the comic book (heck, at that time, most spawn series were not even based on the comic anymore), so I think these figures had a good chance to be successful. Obviously we will never know for sure, but I would very much like to have had the chance to find out.
As far as the figures are concerned, I think they look quite good, especially for the time. I think Resaurus was the only company at the time that came somewhat close to McF in terms of sculpt and detail. Looking at the prototypes for series 1 and beyond, I would love to have those on my shelves. Then again, I did not play MtG, so I had no bias regarding the character choice.

You'll always have a few of those that want something extra related to the property, or those who just like the design regardless of origin, but I don't think there's enough to carry a line when it comes to Magic.
I've never liked any of Resaurus' work. Much like Clayton Moore the style just didn't work for me.

I would have owned all of the Muppet Babies. I loved that show. it wasn't for the tv series, they couldn't get that license so it would've only been kermit, fozzy, piggy and gonzo as they appeared as babies in the beginning of one of the movies, i forget which it was at the moment

They would've been an instant fail - > 6 figures, 2 being repaints > Extremely limited articulation in an era of Transformer articulation > Assumed 5" scale, like the crap robot in Spawn.34

I also could not stand the fact that the colors appear to be photoshopped on, instead of real paint. Minor offense, I know, but it didn't help (in my mind anyways) as it was just an indication of how little McF cared anymore.
