Watched the movie earlier ("Justice League: Doom"), I enjoyed it, but as expected the short time is the hindrance.

Yup. I loved the shit out of it but these things really need to be at least 90 mins long. And while on the subject I'll put up a small review tomorrow.

Oh that would be so awesome. I had this discussion the other day about the upcoming two-part The Dark Knight Returns movie they're doing. Why can't they just put that out as one big movie? Why does it have to be split into two (unless part 2 is supposed to be the sequel)?

I have no doubt it will be. DC animation has never let me down, except for the GL shorts.

I know it will be too. So far none of these movies have disappointed me and I own all of them except Wonder Woman. I saw it and liked it but I'm just not a fan and really don't like Greek mythology (hated being forced to take a class in high school). If I ever see it for like 5 bucks I'll pick it up though.

I liked JL-D but..... I think they went cheap on us on this one like using the young justice style animation the box art was a bit deceiving ....

It was the same as JL: Crisis on Two Earths. And now that I'm good and awake here's my review. WARNING: MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!!!
So I'll start by saying that I may have a new favorite DCAU movie with Justice League: Doom. I picked up my copy on Tuesday at Wal-Mart for about $14 but Target and Best Buy had them on sale for $12.99 Though somewhat short (clocking in at 77 mins) the story and action scenes are pretty awesome. The part where the Legion of Doom is simultaneously taking out their respective JL counterparts is amazing. Each JL member is both physically and psychologically broken down and beaten thanks to Batman's contingency plans should they go rogue and man did he do his research. I mean Martian Manhunter was constantly burning alive and couldn't be put out which was incredibly awesome and horrifying at the same time thanks to Carl Lumby's agonizing screams.
And with that we shift to the voice cast. Pretty much the entire cast from Timm's JL/JLU cartoon has returned and none of them have lost their touch. The banter between each member is great and exactly on cue. The only change to the cast is Nathan Fillion returning from GL: Emerald Knights as Hal Jordan/Green Lantern (who imo is the Kevin Conroy of GL) but due to the fact that it was John Stewart in JL/JLU voiced by Phil LaMar it makes sense.
Now while I find this movie stellar and one of the best to date there are some things that might turn you off. Some of the animation can come off as anime-ish which not everyone is into and the end is sort of "oh well that seemed really easy" but you know they're going to save the day of course. Also the League seemed to just glance over Batman's betrayal pretty fast. I get that when they first find out about his plans to take them down they still have to stop the Legion but when the mission is over they seem like "Well Batman pretty much just betrayed us all but you know what we'll let this one slide."
On a sad note this was Dwayne McDuffie's last story and while his early passing is heartbreaking it's nice to see that his final story was a great one. His work was some of the DCAU's best. Overall if you liked the previous JL movie (Crisis on Two Earths) or are just a fan of a really good JL story in general this one is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. So there you have it. Timm and company have done it again and it's one not to be missed.

Eh I'm always up for DCAU Superman. Superman TAS is the reason I'm a fan of the character so I'll always give them a chance. I have to admit though this one is probably going to grow on me between now and release.

I'll be picking it up, and I'll almost certainly enjoy it, but I can never muster all that much excitement for Superman's solo animated stuff.

Like I've said I'm definitely going to buy and watch it and will probably end up enjoying it. So far these movies haven't really disappointed me yet. There have certainly been ups and downs but I've enjoyed each movie they've put out.

What the fuck happened to "The Dark Knight Returns"? Also, Supes vs. The Elite was probably the single best Superman story in fucking years. I think that's coming next, actually. In two seperate parts. GR will correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, I think Flashpoint would be after that.

You're correct Homunculus TDKR is next and will be split into two movies. If Flashpoint is indeed the next after TDKR I'd be all for it. Haven't read the story but from what I've read about it Barry Allen is the main character and I'm all for a Barry Allen centric movie. Good find btw.
