I thought Cranston was confirmed as Luthor, not just rumored. Eisenberg could work as young Luthor I guess, even though he isn't supposed to be an awkward stutterer, but as the adult Luthor who's going to take on Cavill, that's a complete joke. Yes Luthor can't physically match Superman anyway, but I like the "All-Star Superman" interpretation of the character: someone who's pushed himself to his mental and physical peak; the most capable human (in his own mind at least) in a world where humans have just become obsolete, and he's pissed about it. Jesse Eisenberg and Henry Cavill are both 30 years old. Obviously they're very different physically, but that's why I like this casting. I always think Luthor works best when they downplay the physical threat to Superman, and emphasize the Resentful Evil Genius aspect. Luthor thinks he knows what's best for humanity, and he hates that this alien asshole shows up and steals his thunder. I can totally see Eisenberg pulling that off if that's the direction they take. And now I think the Bryan Cranston rumor started not only because Cranston is awesome and needs to be in more stuff, but because someone was eavesdropping on a meeting and overheard the name "Eisenberg" and thought they said "Heisenberg" and jumped to the wrong conclusion.

And I was really looking forward to Cranston as Lex. I like Eisenberg but that is some far out there thinking. As weird as this may be I'll still going to see this. Irons as Alfred though works on so many levels it's not even funny.

There is nothing intimidating about Eisenberg. Him as Lex is a huge fail IMO.

Good villains don't always have to be physically intimidating.

I don't think he meant physically, the guy just has the presence of a luke-warm glass of water with those mineral flakes floating around in it.

That's what I'm talking about, he lacks the ability to present a strong character, his acting kung fu is not strong.

Ben Affleck as Batman, and Eisenberg as Lex are the ONLY reasons to see this thing.

I'd love to see Bizzaro. I always wondered if they ever put Bizzaro in a movie would the same actor playing Superman play both roles or would they get a double and just paste said actor's face on there all Bizzaro like.

Id say Bizarro or Brainiac. Outside Zod and Luthor those could/should be the other baddies people would recognize the easiest

Mongul, Doomsday, Parasite, Metallo, Brainiac... plenty of great Superman villains to use. But having Lex Luthor in the sequel to Man of Steel was inevitable, just like having Joker in the sequel to Batman Begins was inevitable. Arch enemies need to turn up sooner rather than later.

Ben Affleck as Batman, and Eisenberg as Lex are the ONLY reasons to see this thing. If in the same way everyone slows to check out the carnage at the scene of an accident, then I agree.

This film was already fucked from the get go. They can only go up from Man of Steel as far as I'm concerned.

I just don't see einsenberg at the presidential podium. but it could be an interesting contrast. Superman, physically imposing and confident vs A mentally imposing and confident Luthor. I think by toning down Luthor's musculature it will bring more attention to his intellect. Look at Trask in Days of Futures past..

Maybe they'll go with the pre-crisis story about Lex and Superman being buddies when they're young, but Supes accidentally causes a fire in Lex's lab that causes him to lose his hair and totally hate him.

Well, I guess instead of Sears plugs we can look forward to a shitload of Rogaine billboards. Hair loss as the driving plot device would be just thuper!

I agree, but this one is starting to sound like it could do the impossible and be worse. Snyder should stick to copying things verbatim, the difference between Watchmen/300 and Man Of Steel/Suckerpunch is...so goddamn vast.

Since you guys have completely written this movie off already, can you post a link to the script you've obviously read, or at least the trailer you saw?
