Not a fan of all the changes they've been making from the books.....a few things, I understand...cutting out filler etc. But now they're changing somethings completely, creating new characters while leaving other semi important ones out entirely....I still enjoy watching, for some reason, but as a show that was supposed to be "so faithful" to the material, it's really started straying and season 2 isn't even over yet.
And in the book, Theon does not kill Rodrik Cassel. He leaves to fight the Ironborn who are attacking near by, and while he and most of Winterfell's forces are gone, then Theon captures Winterfell (Which Bran witnesses through the eyes of his direwolf....major thing they left out).....then there's the whole bit with Bran and Rickon escaping with Osha and Hodor (and two major characters that they haven't even introduced in the show)...blah blah blah, burned bodies, blah blah..... Rodrik and his mini army come back and make camp outside of Winterfell trying to come up with a way to take it back......then....other stuff happens....

a cool one indeed, loved when Bronn saved The Hound, wonder who would've won if they went at it.
and the subtle way every single person on the wall the hound included was disgusted by the sounds of Stannis' men buring alive, but Joffrey had that sick smile on his face

WOW! Toward the last few minutes of the finale I was wondering how they could possibly blow me away like season 1's. Then I realized the episode was 10 minutes longer than usual. The whole episode was incredible ofcourse but the last couple scenes were as awesome and surprising as I'd hoped.

i enjoyed it, i really wonder what they're going to do with Theon since it's obviously not like the book now.
also why the hell are Summer and Shaggy so damn small, they looked regular wolf size if not smaller, if anybody should be little it should've been Ghost as he's the runt

I find it hilarious that every time someone is faced with death or being captured or something, the instant go to solution is going to the wall to take the black.
Whats even more funny is hardly anyone ever makes it there to do it. Ned Stark, Arya, Theon, etc. etc.

well it does seem to be a literal get out of jail free card, sure you have to live in a wall of ice and never touch a woman or own anything...but hey it probably beats being beheaded.
also i don't know why Rob couldn't just wait for the wedding, seems like making an enemy of one of your important allies would be better done AFTER you finish up your war then during

Hell, you could just wait for the old codger to die then announce that your agreement is null and void because you made the contract with Lord Fray himself and since he's dead the contract is invalid. Or just say that Bran or his brother, cant remember his name, will just honor his brother's commitment and once he comes over age he will marry any daughter he deems fit. Either of those options would allow you to get off scott free. Ah well Rob's sealed his fate now.

Oh yeah, one thing I didn't get was how the fire-worshipping brother killing guy who lead the assault on King's Landing escaped. In the previous episode it looked like he was captured when Tywin showed up, were those his own men pulling him away? Sry if you answered this in the exchange above Yac & Mattman, didn't want to read for fear of spoilers.

"Men do not need nipples" lol goddamn, great premiere as expected. I never felt the full impact of how unfairly Tyrion gets treated until this episode, that was brutal. I love how the fantasy elements are becoming less discreet, the giant was so cool looking and having him just casually walk into frame made you feel exactly what Jon was at that moment. And damn, that Qarth bastard won't die. Can't wait to see the Aria, Jamie, & Theon storylines continued next week.
What'd everyone think? And just as a reminder since it's a new season, no book spoilers please.

You haven't read the books?
Well, having read the books and enjoyed this one especially, I'm kind of horrified at the MASSIVE SWATH of info that was condensed in this episode. I think the scene with Davos coming back was a total horseshit re-write to shoehorn Melisandre into the scene. I think the guy playing Mance Rayder is fucking all wrong. I think the scene where Jon meets Mance Rayder was awful and they should have stuck to the story he told in the book, because that scene really worked and just telling Mance about Other he saw pick up the baby wasn't fucking good enough. And pulling out Barristan this early is just fucking retarded. The reveal of the Unsullied was horribly underwhelming. And for fuck's sake CAN ANYONE ON THIS SHOW GIVE SOME SORT OF FUCKING SENSE TO THE SCENES WITH ROBB??!?!
Altogether, a horribly underwhelming season premiere. I hope to fuck they aren't going to halfass the rest of this season the way they did this episode. Several scenes were taken from the book and it's like a fucking retard rewrote them, stealing all the tension or wit or anything redeemable and just wrote it in broad strokes.
Bringing in Barristan this early is so incredibly fucking wrong and I can see why they did and it's going to compromise Daenerys' storyline. Just having the dialogue and argument between her and Jorah on the ship reversed, having him make the argument against a slave army and Daenerys justifying it was goddamn stupid.

^Cool! How are you liking it? It takes until about the 4th episode to really get interesting. And now I have to get a bit negative, unfortunately:
I didn't like the end of tonight's episode at all. I know, most great series' have to do stuff you don't want them to and that's where the word "riveting" comes from & junk, but I still don't like it lol. And on a separate note, that ska goes medieval song during the credits cheapened the entire series. Other than that it's been great as usual, but definitely slow and transitional the past couple weeks.
And more negative, sorry:
Also, Holeman's post is just classic:
Me - "please everyone, don't post spoilers from the books" Holeman - "Damn, you haven't read the books?" *Proceeds to post nothing but spoilers from the books
And that's after he spoiled the season 1 finale in the beginning of this thread, after just a few episodes had aired. Fuck that selfish fuckface.
It's not like anyone posts here anymore, but if you're interested in discussing the show as it relates to the books, please make a separate thread in the books section or at the very least give plenty of fair warning for book spoilers.

It’s fantastic. It gets totally unpredictable (like some lead characters getting killed) and it’s just raw. The way it’s been done is just raw. Like brutal kind way and in a very nice brutal way.
I just finished Season 1. Thinking of watching Season 2 now. It aired on HBO here but just didn’t get the time to follow the whole thing on tv. Now I’m watching it on DVD.
I’m absolutely loving it!

It just kept getting worse and worse. This show is almost at Breaking Bad levels of emotional terrorism.
And the silent credits were just devastating.
