I'm not an Aquaman fan so I was immune to being insulted if they changed things, and I went into it with the expectation that it was going to be an over the top, druggy piece of eye candy. I loved the movie and a couple of times laughed at the audacity of some of the scenes.

It was audaciously stupid. Not "fun" stupid, but "you guys couldn't give this script one more pass?" stupid.

I'm sick of this fucking "Can Superman be relevant in the modern world" "Superman can't be relevant in 2019" "Snyder tried to make Superman relevant, but people didn't like it because they're stuck in the '70s" horseshit. It's obvious that a superhero who is selfless, wholesome, hopeful, honest, kind, principled, and believes in the goodness of others can be relevant today, especially after Marvel just did that with Captain America. Sure that doesn't reflect the most prominent people in 2019, and the entire world frequently seems like some kind of hell, but that's precisely why we need a character like that on the big screen...because we need Superman in real life. THAT is what makes him relevant. As long as there is bad in the world he'll be relevant, and who he is will never need to be changed to reflect the shitty world in which we live, because he's supposed to be better than that. That's the whole fucking point.

^Bingo.
Modernizing Superman by making him a violent cynic and then doubling down on that characterization is a mystifying choice. One of the many reason Batman vs Superman is a joyless slog.
There’s a scene in All Star Superman (I think) where a suicidal girl is standing on a ledge. Superman flies up and sits down next to her and they just talk. It’s a beautiful scene. And I know the people who wrote Man of Steel read that series because they stole some of Jor-El’s dialogue from it, but they COMPLETELY missed the point.

This has me firmly believing that despite wanting to be in Suicide Squad, Dave Bautista had a major scheduling conflict with Dune (weird, because if he's playing Rabban as reported, he shouldn't need to be there for more than a week or so of filming): John Cena reportedly being eyed for Suicide Squad sequelAcceptable characters for Cena to play: -Major Force -Major Victory -Blockbuster -King Shark -King Faraday (even though he's a bit big for the part) -Punch (he and Jewelee would have to die early in the movie since Harley Quinn will be a main again) -Catman (would make little sense if Idris Elba is Bronze Tiger) Unacceptable characters for Cena to play: -Bane -Hawkman -Lobo -Atom Smasher I just read that John Cena is playing Peacemaker, and I am totally good with that. Idris Elba is apparently playing Vigilante (not sure which one, but it doesn't really matter), and I'm good with that, too.

So the Ayn Rand cut of Justice League will be released exclusively on HBO Max early next year, presumably because with everything shut down or on hold right now because of the virus, it's easier for WB to finish something that already mostly exists than film something new, even if they'd already invested heavily in it and saw it fail MASSIVELY. I don't know how I feel about this. On the one hand, I know it will be bad, I don't like 4Chan troll incels to ever get their way, and I don't want any success for Zack Snyder, who is not just a shitty film maker, but a fucking douchebag. On the other hand, I do want to see the director's cut of Rogue One, which no one else seems to be clamoring for, and if those fucking loud gonads don't give HBO Max the kind of numbers AT&T wants when this shit is released, that's probably the last time any studio will do something like this. I'd also kinda like to see the "butthole cut" of Cats and definitely the true director's cut of Alien 3, which seems especially unlikely, anyway.

Not sure how I feel about the Snyder Cut actually coming out, but I do know I have no desire to ever see it. I don't think you can improve a shitty movie by making it more like another shitty movie, especially when the final product is four goddamn hours of bad characterization of iconic characters like Batman with a gun WHY THE FUCK DID THEY GIVE BATMAN A FUCKING GUN ARRRRGGGGHHHHHH.... so yeah, no thanks.
Good for the people who have been clamoring for it I guess, but at the same time fuck em because almost every "RELEASE THE SNYDER CUT" person I've run into on Twitter has been an anime avatar weirdo who follows Ben Shapiro and Joe Rogan.
At this point I just hope the Matt Reeves Batman movie is a good enough reboot that it wipes the slate clean and WB can start over with a shared DCU where Superman acts like Superman and Batman doesn't use a gun. But keep Gal Gadot because she's a pretty great Wonder Woman in the hands of a competent director.

What do you mean by "wipe the slate clean?" If you're hoping that it's gonna get Snyder fans (and apparently Ayer fans, too) to shut up, it won't do that. It's not in their nature. If you're looking for something that will help WB move on from Snyder's ugly vision, they've already done that. They've made almost five movies with absolutely no involvement from him in the last two years. Joker and Aquaman were hugely successful at the box office, Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Fantraption of Professor Horatio Hufnagle failed (and there are myriad reasons for that, not the least of which is that it was a sequel/follow-up to a movie most people hated), and Wonder Woman 1984 and James Gunn's Suicide Squad have yet come out. For all intents and purposes, they're batting .660, and they've been more successful at the box office without Snyder than they ever were with him. Unfortunately, with this Snyder Cut onHBO Max thing happening, it's now got Snyder fanbois expressing their desire for WB to bring him back to make more movies and "finish his vision" or some shit. Fortunately, there's no way, especially with it going straight to streaming, that this fucking thing will make more money than Aquaman or Joker, so there's also no way any execs are at all considering that, and the current CEO, Ann Sarnoff, just doesn't seem like somebody who would like him very much.

I'm not sure what I mean. Before Justice League came out, WB/DC were full speed ahead on copying the MCU formula, but after JL tanked it looks like the wheels fell off the whole thing. They still release movies in the old continuity (Aquaman, Harley Quinn, Shazam) but also movies meant to stand on their own (Joker), and with a few more on the way where nobody seems to know how they're supposed to fit (James Gunn's Suicide Squad, Matt Reeves' Batman).
It's all very confusing. Bits of their DCEU still exist, but they don't seem to care what fits and what doesn't. And that's probably the right approach to take, really.

It's both the pre-crisis and post-crisis (really) approach. Make something and worry about whether it's good* or not and don't worry about where it fits and what other thing it connects to. Worked damn well for the comics.
*I will maintain 'til I die that neither Aquaman nor Joker are good and that Birds of Prey looks terrible (still haven't seen it), but I know a lot of people disagree.

I'd rather get a stupid fucking tattoo (aren't they all?) and then have it removed with a soldering iron than watch Aquaman again. Just felt it was necessary to put that out there one more time. Fucking terrible shit.
Honestly, the last DC translation of a main hero I enjoyed was Batman Returns. WB does not make good superhero movies.
But it's nice to learn that weird little turds who want to see even more of JL will get it. And I'd watch a new version of Rogue One. I really liked it.

Well, now, unsurprisingly, David Ayer is on twitter saying that he believes a mostly complete cut, save some vfx, of his "vision" of Suicide Squad exists somewhere at WB and ummm...I really don't have good feelings about this. Now 4Chan troll moron fanbois will have another shit movie from another edgy crap director who misunderstood the material he was working with to demand WB release on HBO Max, especially now that they've gotten a taste of balding victory [Perfect Hair Forever reference]. This shit will not end, and no cut of CATS where they all have buttholes will be worth this. I also believe these are essentially the same people cramming onto the boardwalk at Ocean City, MD and other places this weekend, so who knows how much traction they'll get when a decent sized chunk of them are fucking dead from the coronavirus?

Massive gutting of employees across DC today. This world eats ass. They laid off about a third of their editorial staff, laid off virtually everyone at the DC Universe streaming service (completely expected), and laid off everyone at DC Direct and shut it down. From a business standpoint, it's a really stupid thing to do right now, two weeks ahead of the DC Fandome online event. Those fucking AT&T nitwits couldn't wait until after? The whole thing is going to feel really weird now.

It's more likely that the execs at AT&T absolutely knew about it, but probably figured nobody gives a shit about anything that's not a movie or show, since they don't.

Snyder fan bois are now trying to get Geoff Johns fired with a hashtag on twitter because they blame him for hiring another director to finish Justice League after Snyder's daughter killed herself and he left, and because Johns gave Ray Fisher a dressing down in LA during Snyder cut reshoots for his shitty online behavior about the entire thing. It's not enough that these pricks are getting the stupid ass movie they want. This is the problem that comes from giving those trolls anything they want at all. Then it's #ReleaseTheAyerCut and #ReleaseTheSchumacherCut and #FireGeoffJohns and soon it'll be #FireGalGadot because she's Jewish or "Gina Carano would have been a better fit" or some other dumbass thing. Fuck these people!

News from Fandome: WB will hang onto WW84 until they can safely release it in theaters everywhere around the world. It's a reward for a functioning society, so we'll probably all die first. They had a new trailer. It looks fucking great.

They also showed of the new roster for the Suicide Squad sequel and wow did it have a lot of comic accurate D-Listers that'll die in less than 5 minutes.

They also showed of the new roster for the Suicide Squad sequel and wow did it have a lot of comic accurate D-Listers that'll die in less than 5 minutes. I'm cool with that, but James Gunn sounds like he has the sensibility to string it out a bit for maximum effect. Unsurprisingly, it really sounds like he really fucking gets it. He talked about John Ostrander's run on Suicide Squad and when talking about Harley Quinn, he said he's been a fan since Bruce Timm and Paul Dini created the character for Batman the Animated Series and has previously described his take on the character as "exploding Paul Dini-esque." He also gave Harley real clothes, and the characters don't all look like they haven't bathed for three weeks and then put on a bunch of eye liner. And I have a good feeling that no one will say, "Let's go save the world." (Despite what either of these say, neither is a trailer. The first is the character intro and the second is a sneak peek)
