There's a few pulls that make me smile but I was hoping Idris Elba was going to be Bronze Tiger. Other than that yeah I have actual hope for this one.

I watched the Black Adam first look with The Rock. I feel like an anti-hero "who delivers his own brand of hard justice and kinda blurs the lines between hero and villain and and right and wrong," like Black Adam and a super strong and very angsty hero like Atom Smasher would have resonated more if Zack Snyder hadn't already tried to make that kind of thing fit characters that shouldn't be that way. The man has about a million times more charisma than someone like Henry Cavill, and he's sincere about it, so I'm cautiously optimistic this will be well executed or at least entertaining.

It could be that I'm just kind of burnt out on all things Batman but I won't deny I had some reservations about this movie and that trailer just wiped all of that away.

BTW, The Snydercut looks expectedly heavy handed and dumb. Example: Not only does Darkseid here look fucking stupid and kinda gooey and was clearly made by the same F/X house that brought us "Doomsday," but like some edgelord motherfucker who doesn't understand the characters he's working with, Snyder gave him some big badass weapon! Darkseid doesn't need a weapon. He's a New God, stronger than Superman, who shoots beams from his eyes that vaporize people and has the ability to bring that person back into existence if he wills it. DARKSEID IS THE FUCKING WEAPON! Snyder also used Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah" during the whole thing, because people make fun of his use of that song during the extremely graphic sex scene in his shitty Watchmen movie, and he's more than just a bad film maker, he's also a fucking internet troll. Jesus, I hope this bombs.

There are PS2 games with better cut scene graphics than the shit I've seen from Snyder's movies, the miserable bits I've watched. Darkseid looks like just another leather-wrapped S&M fantasy of his.

I like the idea of a Golden Age JSA movie and Long Halloween, but the DC movies have been pretty shitty for the most part, and especially lately. I hope these will actually be good. The '70s Batman movie looks cheesy as hell but might be fun in a campy kinda way.

The new Superman movie that looks kinda like Archer due out next month is apparently pretty solid. Personally I hope the go back to just one and done movies. No animated universe shenanigans please.

From what I've been able to tell that one is based very heavily on Superman: American Alien by Max Landis, but no one wants to mention him (for good reason). It was actually a pretty good series, tbh.
Oh, and Justice League vs the Fatal Five was pretty damn good, and a great continuation of the Timmverse. I had forgotten about that one because the last two that Mrs. Griffin and I watched were Red Son and Apokalips War, and those two were just so damn awful. Every third or fourth movie is good and the rest are crap, especially the New 52 movies, which are finally done, thankfully.

I liked the two-part Death of Superman movie despite it being part of the New 52 universe. The way he took out Doomsday was better in the other movie though. You just can't top Superman suplexing his ass from space.

Remember how in "Seven" they made a point of never telling the audience what city it took place in? That's because it was in Gotham, and after Kevin Spacey killed his wife, David Mills went crazy and started dressing like Batman.
This looks fuckin great, but it looks a hell of a lot like "Seven" is the point I'm trying to make.

But Jeeeesus Christ that trailer is fucking horrible. Oh yeah, and when I saw that trailer over the weekend I thought I was watching a parody version because no way would they actually use the same version of Hallelujah. There's just no way they'd be dumb enough to do that, but hey guess what they were dumb enough to do that.

You know a movie is good when the director says something like "this movie is insane and so epic" instead of "I think people are really gonna like it" or something soyboy cucks say. Also, I've needed Batman to say "fuck" for a really long time, and I'm wicked disappointed that he hasn't ever done so yet, bro. This news has me pumped, and it if it weren't for this whole virus hoax and lockdowns and shit, I would go out right now and sucker punch a minority and then come back home and jerk off. FUCK YES!

My understanding is it's going to be released as a four-hour movie in theaters and as four hour-long episodes on HBO Max. But I haven't followed it closely in any way, because I really don't give a shit.

WW84 was...ok.
It was very goofy and not in a good way.
It's bizarre how DC movies continue to be about a decade or more behind in special effects quality compared to most other big studio films.

I liked it. During a watch party, Patty Jenkins said she'd like to make a Superman movie next. I think it's a great idea. She's demonstrated a clear ability to take a character that's supposed to symbolize goodness and hope and NOT fucking transform her into a dour, soulless, Ayn-Randian übermensch. Plus her movies lack unnecessary and inappropriate messianic imagery, and she doesn't overuse slo-mo. She also has a firm grasp of the "show, don't tell" principle. I'd love to see her apply the same to Superman, who hasn't been treated well on the big screen since 1980. It's fucking embarrassing that DC hired the guys who made Batman Begins and the director of 300 to reboot Superman, while Marvel was making better Superman movies starring Captain Fucking America. That Snyder oversaw that character for as long as he did would have Jerry Siegel, Joel Shuster, and even Richard Donner rolling in their graves, and Donner isn't even fucking dead yet.

The Snyder Cut is back to being a four-hour movie and not a mini-series. Not even David Lynch thought Dune should be that god damn long.

I really like Snyder's directors cut of Watchmen, mainly because it's an extremely faithful (with a few notable departures) recreation of the book more than it's him doing his own thing.
But a 4 hour version of a movie that was already damn near unwatchable, newly rejiggered to be more like the runny shit puddle that is Batman vs Superman? Sweet Christ, kill me now.

Snyder managed to make an incredibly faithful adaptation of Watchmen that emphasized (almost) all the wrong things. He didn't understand the satire or the message in the books, and it's obvious from that movie. "Tales of the Black Freighter" doesn't fix that.

I totally understand the criticisms of the Watchmen movie, but I actually think his lack of understanding of the subtleties in Watchmen help the movie. The bits that he clearly intended to be TOTALLY BADASS BRO come off as satirical totally by accident. Watchmen and Dawn of the Dead are the only movies of his I can stand to watch anymore, except for maybe a few scenes in Man of Steel.

Dawn of the Dead is only good because of James Gunn's script. That, and I can't remember any slo-mo. Okay, the cast is good, too, but from what I've read, the producers had a much bigger say in casting than he did.

So the entirety of justice league is going to be in 4:3 format for some bizarre reason.

Okay, the cast is good, too, but from what I've read, the producers had a much bigger say in casting than he did. lol There was slow mo in one scene when they run upstairs from the garage and torch the zombies after closing a chain link fence on them. I only remember that because the last time I watched the movie, it was after 300 and Watchmen had come out, so I had a better understanding of Zack Snyder's tropes and thought it was completely out of place. If I recall, the characters stand there watching the zombies burn with grimaces on their faces and the zombies are shown to burn in slow motion.
