I hope they improve the cyborg CGI by release cause it looks so bad
the face looks like it's just floating there and not part of the character at all
other than that it looks cool

Seems to be missing a crucial member of the League...
Oh yeah, they "killed" Superman in the last movie, writing themselves into a corner where the formation of the JL happens without its most important member. I'm sure he'll show up by the end of the movie, but still...

Oh yeah, they "killed" Superman in the last movie, writing themselves into a corner where the formation of the JL happens without its most important member. I'm sure he'll show up by the end of the movie, but still... Agreed and it still pisses me of how halfassed they shoehorned Death of Superman into Dawn of Justice meaning I'll never see it done properly as it's own movie. But yeah you know he'll be back since they couldn't help themselves with that dumbass tease thanks again to Dawn of Justice but my theory is that hopefully they've learned their lesson with revealing Doomsday in the second fucking trailer and won't show him in any of the promotional material other than like a glimpse of him floating in the sky with the cape all flowy because he's more than likely going to be an enforcer for Darkseid until he's Superman again for the big finale and they want to save the big reveal that he's a "bad guy". Just hope he has that rocking mullet when he's wearing the black suit. I hope they improve the cyborg CGI by release cause it looks so bad the face looks like it's just floating there and not part of the character at all other than that it looks cool Agreed. Fair enough and agreed it does look a little jarring but since the movie's not out until November the effects are still probably being fine-tuned.

lol, I actually just watched RO last night and that shit was so weird
it's really good CGI but still not quite believable as an actual person
the only movie I've seen them do that type of CGI work and make it 100% convincing is young RDJ in civil war

I thought the effects they used in Ant-Man to make Micheal Douglas look younger was pretty damn good.

That shit looked weird to me too. Young Robert Downey Jr. did look good in Civil War. At first I thought it looked fake because it looked too good, IMO, but that was because he looked all strung out on drugs at that age because...well...he was, and there's of course no reason for the character to have lived that life, so I was quite impressed on the second viewing.

I thought Tarkin looked great in Rogue One, but Cyborg looks weird as hell in that trailer. But then I have zero expectations for this movie either way, so whatevs. BvS: Dawn of Punching gave me no confidence in the DCCMAGAEU whatsoever.

I thought the effects they used in Ant-Man to make Micheal Douglas look younger was pretty damn good. Yes, Marvel has the monopoly on realistic face CG de-aging. RDJ and Michael Douglass are the two greatest examples. I think it worked so well because they had the actual actors as models. Peggy being aged in The Winter Soldier wasn't bad, but looked a little obvious because they mapped Hayley Atwell's face onto an older actress'.

They kinda did the opposite. They used the older actress to capture textures that they mapped onto Haley in post.

Oh is that it? I knew it was something like that.
In hindsight, obviously that's what they did. Duh.

So apparently Joss Whedon is making a Batgirl movie. Can't exactly say I'm all that interested but to be honest these days I'm not really interested in anything Batman related unless it has Beyond or Arkham in the title.

Joss Whedon was a Hollywood script doctor before he made it big, so it makes sense they'd bring him in for something like this.

How coincidental is that that he grew up a comic fan and now he's had a hand in creating the two biggest superhero movies of both the Big Two. It's too bad he had to come on to JL under such tragic circumstances.

If early reviews are to be believed, the Wonder Woman movie is good. Like really, really good, on the same level and general tone as Batman Begins and the first Christopher Reeve Superman movie. One of the scenes in the trailer is a clear homage to/ripoff of the scene in Superman where Clark saves Lois in the alley, and I took that as a good sign.
Hopefully this movie is as good as these reviews suggest and makes a shitload of money, convincing WB to shift the overall tone of their Murderverse to something more hopeful and optimistic. Just because I'm more of a Marvel fan doesn't mean I don't also want the DC movies to be just as good. And we should also have a big thread for all these DC movies, like the MCU thread. I'll get right on that.

Didn't the "murderverse" tone start in the comics themselves, a while back? It seemed to me that a lot of DC characters were - because of the age that they originated in - pretty outdated and cheesy, so the creators decided to try to update them for contemporary times by making them edgy, especially after they saw the success of the adult-oriented Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen. Identity Crisis was probably the pinnacle of this mentality. I could be wrong, but that was the impression I've always had about modern DC heroes. It's funny, too, because they gave them such gritty storylines filled with death and blood and mature themes, but they kept the campy costumes, origins, and names, for the most part. It's like they were aping Alan Moore and Neil Gaiman's runs on Miracleman. Not that any of this really bothered me. It's just been an objective observation I've always made about DC.

I wouldn't know to be honest. The only DC book I still read is Batman Beyond and even though it's not like the cartoon anymore everything I've read so far is still on the level of Return of the Joker. Not DCEU levels of doom and gloom but but it's still serious when it wants to be.
All that said I really hope Wonder Woman is the shot in the arm they need. Still probably just going to wait for the Blu-ray though. Don't really go to the movies anymore unless it's a special occasion/invitation or I get a free thing when I buy a movie like I did with Covenant.

I hated Identity Crisis. Hated, hated, HATED it. Not only was the murder-mystery angle handled extremely sloppily (woman goes to play a prank on her friend, but she brings along a flamethrower just in case her friend dies and she has to destroy the evidence, seriously, that was the plot), but the entire story was just lazy as fuck. The story so desperately wanted to be "real" and "edgy", but the best thing the writer could come up with was "Hey, what if somebody gets raped? That's super edgy!" Shit that was a terrible, terrible comic.
But I don't think the recent DC movies are quite as bad as that. They have a very cynical tone to them (which doesn't work at all with a character like Superman), but their attempts at real-world depictions of classic superheroes aren't nearly as clumsy, stupid, and offensive as Identity Crisis was.

Isn't that the one where Zatanna mindfucks Batman or something because he wouldn't go along with the League's plan of mindfucking Dr. Light? Yeah that sounded like garbage.
As for the movies I firmly believe that if Superman was real the way he gets shit on by like 90% of the population in Dawn of Justice is exactly how he'd be treated in modern society. We're all a bunch of untrusting self-centered assholes that would tear down a dude trying to help people just because he can.

Justice League is looking great. I didn't think the DCU's plans to catch up to Marvel could possibly work, but from the JL trailer it looks like they may have pulled it off. I wish Ben Affleck's solo Batman film wasn't running into so many issues because I think he's been great in the cowl so far and I'd like to see how he does in a standalone film (sans Leto Joker, he needs to go).
