Ever read the Hellboy/BPRD comics? I've been going back through those trades lately and they're just so damn good. The early Hellboy books when Mignola was writer AND artist are just phenomenally great.

I read something, don't remember which. At the time it wasn't what I think I was wanting to read so I didn't get too invested. Didn't hate it, but it's just like putting on the right kind of movie when the mood hits. I'll have to try something again. Any recs on a particular story or arc?

Most of the Hellboy stories are self-contained little horror/folklore stories that don't have to be read in any order. The later trades start to develop a larger arc, and all the BPRD books and intricately connected, but the first several Hellboy trades stand on their own. Start with the first one, and if that doesn't grab you skip ahead to Conqueror Worm or The Right Hand of Doom. That one has the story "Pancakes" where little kid Hellboy tries pancakes for the first time and everybody in Hell realizes they've lost him forever. It's great.

Wow, frin, we have the exact same feelings for Batman.
Raz, try Allstar Batman and Robin. Fantastic Lee art and a batshit story by Miller that's so stupid it's awesome.

I don't know which event I am liking more...Marvel's Infinity or DC's Forever Evil.
I'm finding both to be so exciting.

The last books I bought were Superman: Secret Origin and Brainiac. I thought both were really good.
With Christmas coming up I usually get a new book or two so hopefully I'll have something new to read soon.

May try out Forever Evil, not sure yet. Infinity was good. Now that it and Superior Carnage are done, no more Marvel for me until February and the new Carnage mini-series, then March and the new Moon Knight series.

I picked up the last 3 issues of Infinity at the shop last week, but they're still sitting there waiting to be read.
I also got volume 3 of the Snyder/Capullo Batman book. It's only the Batman issues of the "Death of the Family" Joker story, but it's really good. It's a nice slow burn to get to the climax, but it's all pretty intense. Once Batman goes to Arkham to confront Joker... hooboy. Definitely worth checking out.

I don't collect it, but I've read the singles (#1-18) via a friend. Then I ended up buying the first 2 trades and I'm waiting for softcover version of volume 3.

Hmm. Just finished Infinity. For an event promoted as a Thanos event... I dunno. I felt a tad disappointed. However it was still the best Marvel event since Civil War.

I liked Infinity, but not as much as I thought I would. Like Age of Ultron, they seem to have used the whole event to set up something else afterwards. Kind of takes away from the experience and makes it feel more like a place you're passing through instead of the actual destination, y'know?

Yeah. And the fact that Jim Cheung was absent for most of it was disappointing, too, but Dustin Weaver is also awesome.

That's been true of pretty much every Marvel event miniseries from House of M through to Secret Invasion, and it's a big part of why I quit reading most Marvel stuff altogether after Secret Invasion ended. I was sick of every major storyline not having an ending, and just setting up a new status quo that would itself get changed within a year. Part of that is due to how serialized storytelling works, but it got really frustrating. The only Marvel event that really a satisfying ending was Siege, since that series was basically the culmimation of the huge mega-arc Brian Michael Bendis has been working with ever since Avengers Disassembled.

This and all the tie-in crap is why I always avoided event books most of the time. Despite Infinity not really having an ending, I did like being able to read just it, Avengers, and New Avengers and stay caught up without getting into all those other tie-in books.. I also liked the fact that Hickman made Avengers and New Avengers relevant to the storyline. They weren't just a couple extra books with "INFINITY" slapped on them for a cash grab.

Been reading a lot of X-Men the past couple of days and has it ever been addressed why every time Wolverine pops his claws they aren't covered in blood? They rip through the skin between his knuckles and are squeaky clean.

Such a quick release, along with his healing factor, wouldn't be much time or area to shed blood. Maybe the skin's kind of a squeegee, since it's just a slit it wipes down the edges as they come out.

Very cool, CP. It's my number one favorite comic as well. Right up there with Watchmen and V for Vendetta. Hey CP, you should check out Scalped, too. That one's on the level, too.
