I cancelled my pre-order and just rented it. Amazon still sent me their exclusive. Whoops. Rachel's alternate raid mode costume plays just like a standard character except for her melee and claw attack. Raid mode is fun, I like it much more than RE6 mercs. So far I'm really enjoying it.

I considered renting it tonight but Raid mode seems so cool that it'll suck returning it. Think I should?

I probably won't be dropping $50 on a game anytime soon so I think you're right. Kinda wish more people hated it so I could get it for $30 in its first month like ORC lol. But not really though, RE needs a win right now more than I need a cheap game.

Got my bday present (a few days late because amazon always sucks for me), Play Arts Kai Lupo! It's an awesome figure but for $50 it's not quite the flawless masterpiece I expected. If I hadn't just gotten Neca's Jungle Extraction Dutch I'd probably be much more impressed, it's just that that $20 figure blows this one away in every category (sculpt, paint, sturdy construction, proportion, poseability) except packaging and height. And packaging is a nice bonus thing but I'll just toss it in a corner and never look at it again, and the height, while impressive, is kind of a downside for me because I'd rather it be in scale with my Neca RE figs. The only real things that are bumming out about Lupo are that her ab joint is loose so her top half flops around until you get it into the perfect position, her alt weapon hands never quite click into place as well as the ones she came packaged with and that's annoying because there's no need for non-weapon hands, I don't think anyone would want to display her not holding the weapons. And the lack of a stand or pegholes really limits the poses you can get out of her. I primarily want her in a standing pose but it sucks to not have more options and since she's so tall I'm not very confident she won't fall off the shelf at some point. I feel kinda bad for being so critical because it is a sweet looking figure of one of my favorite characters and it's kind of a miracle a figure was made of her at all. It's just that for a first Play Arts Kai purchase I'm a bit underwhelmed, especially after the longass super saver shipping wait, and compared to the utter perfection that is Jungle Extraction Dutch. But overall, I got two awesome figures so why am I complaining? LOL Also, fun fact, the voice actor that plays Lupo did the female vocals on Offspring's "Pretty Fly For A White Guy".

Very cool, Lupo is a nice looking figure. I never took the plunge because that would be akin to opening Pandora's Box for me. Too many cool P.A. licenses out there already. I have to agree through I really wish they were in scale with NECA's. Does the mask come off at all?

Thanks Reed! The mask is sculpted on, but I think seeing her whole face would make the character forever less badass to me anyway. I feared I would be hooked on Play Arts stuff too but honestly with the looseness of the joints and lack of standout features, it'll take a lot to make me buy another at $50 or higher. I really like it when I can wrestle it into a standing pose (already had one fall), it's just for my first "premium" figure it doesn't feel any more special than a NECA release. And NECA releases are awesome, just thought this would be more awesome and the two inch height difference doesn't feel anywhere near worth the $30 difference. $30 total would be a fair price for these. I hope they do make more RE figs after Leon & Helena though, simply because no one else is.
And oh yeah, I rented Revelations, probably won't get into it til this weekend but wanted to make sure I got a copy.

I hear that quite a bit. That's kind of disappointing about Play Arts. You would think for the price they are asking their QC would be up to snuff. Finished RE:R about 3am on casual. Its definitely more satisfying than RE5 or 6. I hope this is the format Capcom follows in the future. There were some pretty creepy moments in it too. The present codes are coming fast and furious now. I think there has been 6 or 7 in the last 24 hours. Go get em guys. www.capcom-unity.com/resident_evil/go/thread/view/7391/29887985/renet-revelations-present-code-thread?pg=41chris ('Python "Speed Shot" Slot5 Lv.5') scarmiglione ('G18 Slot5 Lv.1') dark ('PC356 "Short Range" Slot6 Lv.3') bow ('M3 "Sonic Assist" Slot4 Lv.3') luciani ('Windham "Short Range" Slot5 Lv.5') malacoda ('PSG1 "Long Range" Slot2 Lv.1') tabyss ('MP5 "Light Weight" Slot5 Lv.3') bsaa ('M3 "Short Range" Slot5 Lv.5') seacreeper ('Windham "Speed Shot" Slot3 Lv.1') sheva ('PC356 "Long Range" Slot5 Lv.1')

Those were hilarious. I still have Revelations, I haven't played much of it (got to comms officer), and I don't like it very much. On a handheld I can see myself thinking its the best thing ever but as a console game I'm not finding much to like aside from the environments. The movement is clunky compared to even RE4, the long load times and unnecessary 'previously on' things make it seem not well optimized for a console experience, Jessica is the new worst RE character which is quite an achievement lol, but the worst part is that the enemies are simply not fun for me to kill. I want to try Raid Mode before I return it tomorrow, hopefully that and time will make me like it more when I buy it cheap, but for now I'm pretty disappointed.

I gotta admit that the 'previously on' is major cheese. lol Jessica gets a little more interesting later on. I'm not a fan of the designs for her, Rachel and Raymond though. Way too anime for this series.

I rented Revelations again. I beat the bastard boss of chapter 3 and tried Raid mode for the first time and I like it; it's no mercenaries but my first impression is that it's more fun to play than the main game. The enemies are a lot less sucky to fight when you can see their health bars displayed. They still look like crap Silent Hill threw up though. I just don't like this game very much lol. I feel bad about it and complaing about it over the course of several months, but oh well; I feel like talking about it and I still wanna beat it. Hoping it grows on me by the end but so far the story feels much closer to the dumb CG movies than the classic RE it was hyped as. But again, the cruel irony is that while I'm lucky to have the opportunity to play it on PS3, if I was playing it on a handheld I would be loving it.

Okay, I beat Revelations. It did pick up a bit after chapter 3 and the characters became less terrible as their storylines progressed; but Jessica's one-legged wetsuit is still the 2nd dumbest thing in the series after Simmons.
Overall, it was an alright 7 hour RE. The story was part fun and interesting, part dumb and almost Metal Gear confusing. Definitely would've been better with a couple less ridiculous twists, but the story was clearly inspired by "24". I still don't like the design of the enemies, I mentioned their Silent Hill resemblance earlier, but I figured out it's more like if Silent Hill got pregnant by House Of The Dead. I didn't enjoy fighting them either, took too many shots and there wasn't enough feedback that you were actually hurting them like blood or limbs flying off.
I don't know if I can say I liked the level design, tons of backtracking that got tedious, but I liked the look of it, the scenery--probably the game's greatest strength and the only thing that really took it back to the old games. Well, that and the lack of ammo somewhat; but it was just stupid that I was forced to use a sniper rifle in tight corridors for like 20% of the game. The difficulty was also all over the place and the bosses were "I just want this to end already" challenging. But I liked the weapon upgrade system. I liked playing as different characters to break up the monotony and flesh out the story in a more interesting way. I liked the scanner.
It was a more solid game than RE6, but I got more enjoyment out of RE6 when I wasn't completely hating it; so I'd rate this just below it. About a 5.7 to RE6's 6.0. And for the last time, had I played it on a handheld it would be closer to an 8 or 9 because for a handheld game it's crazy good.

RE5's still my favorite. What they should do is expand on the Lost in Nightmares DLC. An entire game like that would be sweet as hell.

^I was so bummed when that ended after an hour, it was so awesome but such a tease. This is a little like that but yeah, there's no reason for them not to do exactly that. Man, I really wanna play some RE5 now but I have to renew my PS+ to access it.

Seriously screw all this reboot shit. Take LiN and rework the story aomehow into a full game (no idea how to do that I'm assuming some form of magic spell) and there's a RE7 that's back to basics and still modern. They could even throw in that special camera setting (as an extra not primarily) for all the bitching purists that won' t stop complaining about the over the shoulder camera position.

I sold my 360 copy of RE5 because I didn't play it after I got the Gold Edition free with PS+. I still want to get a physical PS3 copy but I'm waiting to find a good deal on the steelbook. And I'm waiting until PS+ has another lineup of must-have games that are about to expire before I renew. So for now I wait. I'd probably play some RE6 but I sold that because FYE was offering $13 and they have action figures. Maybe I'll finally jump through all the hoops required to lower the difficulty on Darkside Chronicles.

He was a lame villain who's only characteristic was a psychotic obsesssion with Ada.
I started playing RE5 again earlier today. Kind of weird not moving and shooting now but still so much fun. Wish they'd make an animated movie with Chris. Or finally give us that Chris and Leon team-up RE6 never delivered.

Yeah, aside from being responsible for the most painfully awful series of boss fights in video game history, Simmons' entire character is just a horny cartoon out of a sexual harassment video. As I saw someone else put it, he literally creates an Ada bukkake monster lol. And c'mon he turns into a fucking Tyranosaurus Rex AND a giant fly. Jesus, this shouldn't need explaining.

See, I liked the boss fights, they were fun and I think it was cool he turned into a T-rex lol. I don't much care for the character development of any of the villains in the series, though. They all seem pretty over-the-top and cartoony to me. I admit, he was pretty stupid as far as story went, but those fights were awesome imo. It was a throwback to William's fights in RE2. He just kept mutating!

Ha Ha , I never really thought about it like that. I'm not in favor of a reboot of the series at this point but I honestly don't know which way they should go with it. I like the control scheme of RE6 but the atmosphere of Revelations. Like you guys had mentioned LIN is the perfect blend of the two. So much of the series at this point is been there done that its hard to present anything new but truthfully that's some of the stuff I like the most. Leon's game in RE6 at least until you find Deborah is the most fun I've had since playing the REmake. I loved some of the creepy stuff in Revelations, specifically the Rachel ooze and Scagdead encounters.
