I picked up "The Cabin in the Woods" Blu yesterday. It was a blind-buy. I haven't watched it yet, but I've heard nothing but good things about it.
Also, Best Buy has the Indiana Jones set for $65 this week. FYI.

Just swung by my nearest Target. They had a ton of E.T. Steelbooks. Got mine and its beautiful. Really classy looking Steelbook.
Also nabbed the last copy of their four disc Prometheus. The exclusive book is a bit meh.
Did you get a chance to check out Cabin in the Woods yet OkCo?

Oh! I didn't know Target got a steelbook! Did ET get the same blu ray treatment that Jaws got?

Oh! I didn't know Target got a steelbook! Did ET get the same blu ray treatment that Jaws got? I have not popped it in yet but they are selling it as an all new transfer. Its not quite as old as Jaws so they probably did not have to put the same amount of effort into restoring it. Universal has been doing an amazing job on their older movies though so I suspect this one will be no different. Best thing...the "Special" Edition is gone baby!!! Universal gets that it is important to preserve a classic film the way it was first seen unlike that Lucas clown. I gotta say though I am a bit sad its not included as a branching option because I actually kinda liked some of the stuff in the Special Edition version of E.T. Oh...other best thing. Only $18 for a Blu Ray DVD combo pack STEELBOOK. Can't beat that.

What else did they do besides no guns? There were some nice CGI bits of E.T. running through the woods in the beginning chase that replaced the shots where he was an obvious static prop being pulled along tracks. Most of the changes were CG things that just brought more life to E.T. On the negative side If I remember right the "Penis Breath" line was either taken out entirely or changed.

Damn, that's a bunch. I've only seen the SE on cable once, and then only about half of it, not really paying attention. Terrible.
That kind of "special" wears a helmet and doesn't even give good hugs.

^ Happy Hunting. I am hearing reports that some Target stores did not get many copies of the steelbooks. The one I hit seemed to have about 20 or so.

Actually it was Spielberg who changed it back. Before he changed it because of parents groups bitching. Then, when he went to an SDCC recently he asked the audience and they wanted it back to the original. He said he felt they were right and it would be returned to its former glory. He also added he would never again mess with the originality of his films (enhancements aside), this was clearly a jab at Lucas.

Good, so no gleeful space reunion with Terri Garr and his awful kids for Dreyfus.

^ I got that today too. The Steelbook is huge and takes way too much space on my movie shelf, but they didn't have the regular Blu-ray packaging and I didn't want to spend ten bucks more at Best Buy.

It definitely has the best artwork of all the versions outside of the digibook that comes with the fishtank version. My ass is too poor to pop for that right now but it is on my X-Mas list.

^It's Bruckheimer! It's my favorite too. I don't think Bay's would be that dark and atmospheric and lacking explosions.
