It was cool pretending it exploded from a Predator's shoulder canon though. Those were some good times. What I wanna know is when will NECA get around to making an Atax figure? I LOVED that thing growing up.

With Toys R Us going out of business, I wonder that means for smaller companies like NECA. Probably nothing good, but hopefully nothing catastrophic.

It means they're going to be specialty only (online, comic shops, and Gamestop and the like). It will also undoubtedly have a very negative impact on sales at the very least. I read that Toys R Us owes Mattel something like $113 million and Hasbro $56 million (or something close), which they will now be unable to collect. I don't know if they're in serious debt to NECA, McFarlane, and/or Mezco, but I wouldn't be surprised (obviously not at those kind of numbers but something relative to those companies' size).

I found the new God of War 4 Kratos at Target the other day, the first NECA figure I've ever seen there. Maybe this is a one-off thing with the game coming out next month (although I wouldn't be surpised to see Pennywise there), or maybe it's a strategy to get another foothold in a major brick & mortar retail chain.
Kratos is awesome, btw.

So, apparently NECA is going to be releasing a 7" 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles SDCC exclusive box set. I'm very conflicted. I don't want to want to want it, but I think I do, and yet, I don't want to try to get it there, and I have serious problems with NECA's management and quality control. *Sigh*

Their QC has been much better for a while now. I haven't had a NECA figure break in years.
And I'll definitely get the TMNT set if they don't make it impossible to buy.

SDCC Exclusive Hawkins He probably shouldn't be as tall as Dutch, but it's cool to get another member of the squad.

Probably? It looks like the figure is taller than their Dutch in some shots. Shane Black is 5'10" and Arnold is 6'2." At 1/10 scale the difference is .4 inches, which is significant, so yeah. That's a bit of a fuck up there.

Today is the first day for SDCC exclusive presales. I really, really want that TMNT set.
Aaaaaand I was refreshing the page at 1:00 waiting for them to show up, once they did I added 1 TMNT set to my cart, went to checkout, and in the 30 seconds it took to go through Paypal it has sold out. Fuck. Guess I'll try again tomorrow.
Both TMNT sets, with and without the diorama, and Hawkins all gone in 2 minutes.

Saw a review of the Turtles set on a website run by people who can go fuck themselves, and I am even happier now that I didn't try for these and have no plans to in San Diego. Not only are these guys overpriced (over $31/figure), but their scale is weird. They aren't actually in the usual NECA 7" scale, they are around 7" tall, which means if displayed near any other NECA (or Marvel Select) movie figures, they will look weirdly tall.

Yeah, the scale is off, but I don't mind because they still look amazing. I haven't seen the movie in probably 25 years and I couldn't remember how tall they were there, but I did find an old photo of the actors in the suits standing next to Jim Henson (RIP), and the top of Donatello's head reaches Henson's nose. And they're shorter than the actress who played April, so yeah, no way is 7" the correct height for the scale.
But I don't care. They look incredible and I'm really glad I was lucky enough to score a set.
And which site can go fuck themselves? Is it The Fwoosh?

I just finally completed my 1/4th scale toitle set so the 1/6th set was an easy pass for me
if they release them all separately later on maybe I'll get them

Randy mentioned on Twitter that the Hybrid Predator figure will be at least 10" tall. So even if the movie sucks, at least the toys are gonna be cool.

Agreed. I'm still not sure what to think of the movie. I guess if nothing else it'll be cool to see some Predators throwing down again. As short as it was that was the best part of Predators. Oh and the samurai duel. That was pretty sweet.

It's from the new one and not the original, but the mask is pretty much the same so it works.

The NECA section at Target was up last night, and they had way more stuff than I expected. A bunch of the Ultimate horror figures (4 different Jasons, 2 Freddys, Chucky), a couple Godzillas, a character from Portal, and a bunch of those Scaler things and bobbleheads. Not quite as much stuff as TRU carried, but still encouraging.

YES! I got the SDCC exclusives I wanted! Shredder/Splinter TMNT set and John Connor are mine. I still have two more chances to decide whether I want to pay $120 for Superman & Batman figures that won't really match anything else in my collection.
Seemed like the TMNT set sold out in about 3 minutes.

Those DC packs still being made? Heard they got canned due to licensing?

Armored Batman vs Predator & Superman vs Xenomorph are SDCC exclusives this year. The other Batman/Pred set and another still unannounced DC set are coming later in the year as another exclusive. The licensing restrictions on these are so tight that not only are they convention exclusives but the only way they could sell them was to bundle them together and sell them both as a set.

The John Connor figure lost the "Public Enemy" on the T-shirt in the prototype phase before the figure even debuted at Comic Con last year. Since then the figure lost the camouflage on the outer shirt, which is now solid green. I'm glad for people who want the figure that it still has a head.

I didn't like the old Kenner John Connor figure when I was little and I really couldn't care less about a fancy NECA version now.

I know the jacket is wrong and he's not wearing the Public Enemy shirt, but a 90% accurate John Connor is better than none at all.

It's really pretty ridiculous that they ditched the camo. I almost can't get over that. They have a dozen figures with camouflage, and the little bastard's a con exclusive, so the old "the paint deco didn't cost out" excuse would never hold up in court. Seems so fucking lazy.
