+1 to the Goosebumps. My God, they were one of my greatest obsessions as a kid! Soooo many good ones. And Attack of the Mutant... it mentions Spawn ♥ *tear of joy*
I haven't read enough, though. Makes me feel kind of bad, because I love reading... I just never seem to do it anymore. Because of this, all I can really say I love (aside for most of the series 1 Goosebumps) is Harry Potter. The only complete series I have read since I was a kid.
And I haven't read all too many stand alone books... but Bill Bryson's Short History of Nearly Everything is pretty fantastic.

'Weaveworld' by Clive Barker The 'Dream Park' trilogy by Niven & Barnes. Never been a D&D fan or LARPing, but they're so fun. Anything from Robert R McCammon. I love them all. Hitchhiker's Guide 'Summer of Night' by Dan Simmons
That's all I feel like thinking about right now. LOL

The kid says something about having a poster of Spawn "by Turd McDickbag" it's pretty early on in the book, easy to find.

Cool! Going to reread it. I must have tripped out when I reread it a while back, but I completely forgot about that.
It's funny, I used to take days, maybe a week to read a Goosebumps book, now it only takes me about a couple hours.

I have such fond memories of reading the books when ever possible... on the school bus to and from school, during lunch break and while waiting for the bus in the afternoons, while eating my afternoon snack, and before bed. I was the same, it would take at least a few days to read a book. And now they're just short stories. I'm really upset that when they reprinted the books, they did not keep the amazing original cover art. That was a huge part of what drew me to each book, and now they have some new artist doing covers that I don't care for. I lost my entire collection to a flood when I was around 14, and I wanted to recollect them, but I don't want the bad covers

I still haven't even read A Shocker On Shock Street. High five for having a mutual childhood memory! They were a big part of my childhood as well. Thinking about them brings back many fond memories of being a kid.

Fuck, none of you have read Under The Wheels by Herman Hesse? That book literally changed me.
Ya, H. P. Lovecraft, Poe especially the poetry (pun get it?)
Real books? How about Hitler by John Toland it makes you understand the mind of a madman.
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas should be required FUCKING READING by anyone alive!!! Thompson RULEZ!!! Even if he did shoot himself which only proved he wasn't playing the game by everyone elses rules...
I am Legend which invented the zombie and modern horror. Matheson was a bloody genius!
Isn't Catcher In The Rye still required reading? Are you all really THAT illiterate? The world must be coming to an end soon.
What about the existentialists? Camus (Billy Budd (no good deed goes unpunished), Sartre, Nietzsche (who invented Nihilism), Kafka... turning into a cockroach damn it! You should read books they twist the mind and force you to think.
Harry fuck'in potter pfhhhht

Just a few for me, I've got a giant pile of books I want to dig into.
I hit Crichton at a young age so these have a special spot for me
Jurassic Park Sphere (fantastic) Timeline Prey
Harry Potter series of course
I've enjoyed both the Halo novels, and the three Transformer novels that came out in the early 2000's.

I'm assuming comics don't count.....and since I never really read books, the closest I come is graphic novels. There is one book (although, even then it had pictures) but it didn't take away from the AMAZING story that it was and still is.
THE PLUCKER
That is all.

Favourite book of all time is an easy one for me. House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski. MZD collection. As complete as it's gonna get unless I hit the lotto, and end up having money to burn. The HoLs are all labeled 2nd edition, but in truth the 2nd edition is really the first edition. The 1st edition, according to Danielewski, was the advance copy he passed around over the internet before sending it to print. Instead of labeling the printed book 1st edition he labeled it 2nd edition to further create the facade that Zampano's book was real. All of mine are 1st print editions. Left to right: House of Leaves: Hardcover Blue edition House of Leaves: Hardcover Red edition (signed on dedication page) House of Leaves: Hardcover Full-Color Remastered edition House of Leaves: Paperback Full-Color Remastered edition The Whalestoe Letters: Paperback (HoL supplement) Only Revolutions: Hardcover 1st edition (signed in gold on Hailey's side) Only Revolutions: Paperback I was less than thrilled with Only Revolutions, but it's kinda hard to live up to the love I have for HoL. There's plenty of other stuff I read too. I'm a huge Stephen King fan, simply because he directed my favourite movie ever, and I became a fan of his books because of it. I still enjoy his writing even with his obvious shortcomings. I enjoy his books while I'm reading them, so I don't care if in the end they're not the greatest things in print. I, like '86, read lots of Goosebumps when I was young. I remember reading basically all of them to the point where my grades suffered, because I was reading and not doing any school or homework. My stepfather tried to punish me by not allowing me to go to the library, but my mom said that reading was something I should be encouraged to do, and not restricted from. I remember several days where during gym class I would be sitting on the sidelines reading while others were playing football or something.

Haha, Tyson, your Goosebumps story is almost exactly like mine.
My Dad was reading HoL and showed it to me a long time ago. It was so weird that I told my best friend about it and he read it too. I still haven't read it myself, only because my friend said he didn't like it so much because of all the annotations that he felt he didn't need to read but read anyway because he thought he had to at the time of reading it.

If you want a cover to cover, linear story it's probably not for you, but if you want an experience, then I'd recommend it. You don't need to read about half of the book, but the experience is so much better if you do. It enriches the narrative. That's why I like it so much. It's more than just a book.

The Foundation series, The Caves of Steel, The End of Eternity, by Isaac Asimov, The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher, The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, Memnoch the Devil is worth mentioning on its own and then you have the taltos and the tale of the body thief, . The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag by Robert A. Heinlein. The Sea Wolf by Jack London.
Most hated book of all time. The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
One of the girls i was dating while i was in Iraq sent me a copy saying it was her most favorite book ever.
I hated every word and wanted to punch Salingers pansy ass in the dick for putting such a horrible piece of literature no i mean garbage on paper.
When i go to hell and if i fail to take over i know that a 300 lb version of fran drescher will be reading it to me for all eternity.
