The Master and The Margarita, loved it, going to give it a reread due to making sure I didn't get any of the plots mixed up.

It looks like you're having a conversation with yourself, to my eyes. I clicked in here under the impression that Electric Red had posted something, but I see none of his posts. What the hell is going on???
Anyway, haven't posted in here for a while...
NOS4A2 by Joe Hill - 10/10 Fantastic book. Hill's skills are exponentially increasing with each book he writes. It's kinda crazy. Like his previous novel, Horns, NOS4A2 really evokes that feeling of remembering something from childhood and not being sure of whether or not it was a dream or real, the older you get. Excellent pacing and character development, which is to be expected from Joe Hill, are abundant. If you like Locke and Key, I highly recommend all his novels. He's only written three so far, so it's no big task. Heart Shaped Box, Horns, and NOS4A2. I think Horns is my favorite so far, but NOS4A2 is pretty evenly matched in terms of quality. Horns is even being made into a movie by Alexander Aja and starring Daniel Radcliffe.

^It's the cloaking device. Do you read my comic book? Anyway, in the comics I have a cloaking device which enables me to become invisible. But the trade off is that I don't have Spider-Sense. So that's the difference between me and Parker.

Been borrowing some Comic trades off a buddy of mine, looking to get into some new series and so forth without spending the cash so far I've borrowed off him
Preacher vol 1. Marvel 1602 Wanted Locke & Key vol 1 Hulk:Planet Hulk Justice League: Dark Swamp Thing N52.
Favorites out of them all here Wanted and Preacher. I liked the Wanted movie, but it should have been titled something else. The Graphic Novel was a way better story. Have to find a copy of it for myself. Same with Preacher, going to be getting them all. Its everything I enjoy reading wrapped up nicely in one book. Marvel 1602 was just, meh at best for me. Glad I borrowed it and didn't pay for it. Just need to read Locke & Key out of that list, but have had a few people *cough* O.W.A *cough* pump it up so expectations are high.

Figured do this as a separate post.
Finally found and bought a copy of Salman Rushdie's The Satanic Verses. Been curious about this book ever since I learned of the shitstorm it caused. Haven't finished it yet, but based off the first half of the novel I don't get what got fawta issued against him. Really 1980's Iran? Get your tits out of a twist. There isn't anything mocking Islam, that I've found in it.
Great read so far though

I read kick-ass yesterday. How the directors of kick-ass and kick-ass 2 managed to pull entertaining movies from the comics is beyond me. Seriously, one of the worst comics I have ever read. I wish I had just watched the movies.
I'm sure I am in the minority though.

Looks like no one is reading here anymore Picked up a few books and re-read a few oldies I have.. Metro 2033: I got this one cause I saw the game that's based off it and thought it looked cool. Its a post apocalyptic book set in The Russian Metro System. Basically each station is a city and there are different political fiefdoms within. Also a bit of a supernatural element to it. Just waiting on Metro 2034 to be translated into English. Liked it a bit more than Night Watch, but that is a solid novel as well. River God: Had this one for awhile as I'm big into Egyptian mythology and history. Was a great but really slow read. Tried the second book in the series but couldn't get into that one. Wasn't doing it for me... really bland read Neverwhere: Second read through of this one. Its by Neil Fucking Gaiman, thats all that needs to be said. Amazing read, have read it a few times since OWA said it was a good one.. Need to re-read American Gods, but my copy is with the lass.

I'm still reading, but I feel like the book world is way to broad for me to be writing my reviews here. Last one I read was The Lost World by Michael Crichton.

Stephen King - Duma Key
Very engaging ghost story about a wealthy developer who is nearly crushed to death on a job site. He loses his right arm, has massive damage done to his skull and brain, and nearly dies. He finally comes through most of the trauma so as to be able to be on his own again, but he's severely crippled, his wife wants to divorce him, and he can't fathom being able to go back to the life he lived before. So after a harrowing incident with a neighbor's pet, he makes the decision to get away from Minnesota for a change of mind. He rents a home on a lonely island off of Florida in the Gulf of Mexico called Duma Key, and begins to find a hidden talent in himself for painting that quickly makes him a hero in the art world. But how much is really him, or is he being influenced by something else in the Key?
It's a typical slow burn for King, but never drags of gets to be a bore. The characters are all enjoyable and the story is among his best. Worth the read.
Stephen King - The Running Man
You know, I haven' read this novella since a short before the movie came out, so it's a given I'd pretty much forgotten that, aside from a few names, it is absolutely NOTHING at all like the 80s action movie I love so much. Still a very good story, but so dark and dirty. Nothing fun about it, it's pretty harsh in its universal cynicism.

It's pretty fucked up. But that's what makes it good. I felt sad in more than a few places, and that's a credit to the writing. You care about the people in this story.

I'm reading Cormac Mcarthy's Blood Meridian. Pretty intense stuff, like usual. I think I prefer his stories that take place in contemporary times, though.

Read "Hell House" recently, by Richard Matheson from 1970. I liked it a lot. I guess a movie was made in 1973, but I think with the recent period movies about ghosts, a remake of this would be pretty sweet.

I really liked Hell House. I would have cast Philip Seymour Hoffman as the doc, RDJ as the veteran medium, Famke Jansen as the over the hill starlet, and the terrible actress from The Haunting and The Conjuring as the doc's repressed wife.

The doc was older, in his 50s. But I can see Hoffman working, with that arrogance and overconfidence. RDJ would be too distracting for me. Famke could be okay, but she was in that other ghost house one.
Get on this, Hollywood.

Picked up 'The Keep' again. Read it a couple times long, long ago. Been in the mood for WWII spy stuff, but remembered this one on a whim and got it as well.

I think you've mentioned it here, I know you have, not sure when. But I believe I ran across the post more recently than not and it must've triggered my subconscious to get it again.
I haven't read much horror in a very long time because I kind of hit a point where it wasn't good to me anymore. In high school and after I was into McCammon, Simmons, Barker, and the like. Then I just hit a wall of books that didn't do anything for me when I tried exploring new names. Then at some point I started grabbing my dad's finished spy novels and WWII fiction when I'd see them in a pile, and got on those.
Grabbed some McCammon in a nostalgic mood a while back and decided I wanted some new-to-me horror reads. So I came across Hell House and a few others.

Found a copy of Paradise Lost by John Milton from 1949. Been looking for an older copy like this to replace my misplaced one. Still waiting for a hard cover publication to come in at the closest Barnes n Noble but been waiting for almost year for it.
Frin - They're not full on horror books but maybe try The Strain by Del Toro, wasn't too bad of a series.

I still intend to post some recommendations, frin, but I'll come back and do that when I have my serious hat on. I've been feeling too lazy to explain why books are good lately.

Well, I just mean, I don't want to undersell some books I want to recommend and for whatever reason, whenever I'm on here, I'm not in the mood for thinking hard.
Here's a way around it - I'll just list the books!
Ghost Road Blues trilogy by Jonathan Maberry John Dies At The End by David Wong Pariah by Bob Fingerman Horns by Joe Hill
Go read those. They are awesome.
