SO GOOD.
Not a fan of how Thor was a punchline the whole movie, and some of the time travel logistics probably don’t hold up, but like I said in the other thread, NONE OF THAT MATTERS. Once Cap hears “On your left” in his earpiece, oh my god. The cannons on Thanos’s ship opening fire on something in the clouds before we see who they’re shooting at. All the female Avengers teaming up. MJOLNIR!!! That whole finale is seriously one of the best things I’ve ever seen. Just 100% pure joy.

I agree. Such a rollercoaster of emotions. I've only felt this about a movie a handful of times in my life. One case being The Matrix and another Jurassic Park. It's truly the highest level of movie magic.
As far as the time travel stuff not holding up - you're right, it doesn't matter - but for the sake of discussion, I don't understand how returning the stolen stones (and Mjolnir?) to their original timelines at the moment they were taken would delete the new timelines that they created by taking them in the first place.
That image of ALL THE CHARACTERS marching forward, with Valkyrie on her Pegasus flying through the air, Giantman walking in the distance, and the mages from Kamertaj opening portals everywhere... GOOD. FUCKING. LORD. I never thought I'd see something that epic and dreamlike in a movie. It was something I had concluded would and could only ever exist in static visual art, like comics and paintings. And not only that, but they didn't fucking cut away as soon as the armies clashed! That battle was the dream come true for comic nerds/cinephiles like us everywhere.
And that female super-hero part after the line, "She's not alone." I can't get out of my head. That was seriously one of the greatest moments in cinematic history.
AND CAP WITH MJOLNIR!!!
I could go on, but I'm going to try to keep this a dialogue instead of a monologue lol.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and I didn't catch what Sam said in the earpiece. I only heard "Cap". Man, so much perfect writing, acting, and direction.

Oh! I also loved all the callbacks to previous movies, including the surprise appearances of characters who I never expected to see again.
Tony and Steve's arcs were wrapped up beautifully and I can't wait for Asgardians Of The Galaxy.

People are gonna be debating the time-travel rules in this movie for YEARS. It’s been out for 3 days and there are already tons of different ideas of how it all works or doesn’t work, and reading them is twisting my brain into a goddamn pretzel. Short version: it’s very confusing and complicated and until the writers lay out exactly how it all works people are gonna have problems with it.
But in a story like this it’s more important for it to work on an emotional level than a logical one, and in that way they completely nailed it.

Gonna see it next weekend. Watched the first part again just now.
Turned over to SYFY and Ultron is on. lol
Just curious why Thanos would give Loki the mind stone. Unless he just knew it would serve better to let it go for a while in someone else's hands, getting him closer to all of the stones.

That's what I always assumed. ^
I'm listening to Kevin Smith's recap of Endgame and it's a great way to relive the movie without actually watching it again.
I'm remembering how there's a bunch of great team ups in the movie. Like Rhodey and Nebula, and Rocket and Thor.
Also, HOLY SHIT, the way they got the Soul Stone!!!:*(

Speaking of the soul stone, that's the one where I'm not sure how Cap would be able to just put it back. The whole process of getting that one is so metaphysical and spiritual that he can't just hop over to Vormir and be like "Oh hey Red Skull, long time no see, here's your stone back, see ya".

Well, duh. Keaton had some time off from Dumbo and waltzed in unseen. He always carries the cowl with him. Always.

I've read a lot (A LOT) of articles about Endgame over the past few days, and my biggest takeaway is it's time to remove the term "fan service" from the lexicon. It's such a pretentious, shitty way to dismiss something that people think is cool.

great movie but how did cap marry peggy and live an entirely different life in the current timeline?
that would have changed how every event happened since way back in the 50s

Cap lived out his life with Peggy in an alternate timeline. How he got back to the main timeline for that scene on the bench is another question, but it's probably something simple like he had some Pym particles left over after returning all the stones.

Holy shit. Gotta soak it in, but just got back and it was the perfect end to a decade I would have never believed could happen if you'd told me 11 years ago. I got goosebumps a bunch and didn't imagine I'd feel sad about some stuff that made me sad. And it made me come home and have peanut butter and jelly. The Cap thing you guys are talking about makes my head hurt. The rest I can work with. I don't really care, but it is a thinker.

I guess Warlock was being set up for the next Guardians movie. Wonder if they'll do the Magus thing. Type Thanos into Google and click the gauntlet that appears on the right. I only just read about it.

Most. My wife's mom can't keep a secret, and she has spoiled things for us before. Last weekend after they hung up, her mom called back just to tell her a spoiler. LOL And it was wrong because I'd already found out what really happened. So yesterday wifespar leaned over to me and said she should call her mom and spoil it for her. But the spoilers really didn't take away any of the impact from either the happy and the sad things. As for length, you can usually feel it after a while. The LOTR movies FELT like 5 fucking hours each. They were a drudge. This flew by, flowed so well, and I only wanted more. Not a wasted second, but no overload either. Loved how much attention characters got, and I loved how Scott Lang really became a solid part of the team, and the focus for how they fixed things. He grew more in this movie than he did in 2 of his own and a great cameo. This was as much a love story as anything, both in its creation as much as story. Young Michael Douglas had me wanting to hear the theme to Streets of San Francisco. Loki's brief scene stealer bit was fucking great. "On your left" and what followed made every hair on my arms stand up. I've seen a fair amount of bitching about Thor being a joke. His first two movies were boring, but Ragnarok and IW saga have me loving him. Hemsworth is obviously enjoying it. "No, you take the small one." killed me. And Thor's battle transformation to greasy dreadlocked Rob Zombie superfan, wielding BOTH fucking hammers was so kickass. It took me a second to figure out why Cap was keeping Mjolnir, but it had to go back, too, and he could carry it, so I thought that was cool. I've said it a million times, Tony Stark is a fucking miserable cunt and I hate him. In the comics. But RDJ made him so great, and it was a perfect arc for him. It feeds Stark's ego all it needs, knowing he literally saved half of all living things in the universe, and then saved everything once again from being wiped out for Thanos's new plan. He became the shield around the whole universe. But it was something that no one else could do, and that's what Strange was signaling to him. Yeah, Hulk snapped the first time to bring everything back, but Stark nailed the science and the scheme, and built something just as strong as the gauntlet, built by the blacksmiths of the gods. Dadgum, I loved this movie.

And the elevator scene with Rumlow and the agents was such a great callback. And the punchline was so great.

i'm back! I just moved (very stressful) and finally got internet set up. I have Sonic now, and it's so much better than comcast.
Anyway, I'm glad you saw Endgame frin! I need to see it again, in Imax, before it leaves. I need to digest everything here that I've missed while I was internetless and then I'll respond.

I just watched it for the second time and I feel like the only thing that could have been changed for the better is cutting down on the Fort Lehigh scene a bit. I feel like it dragged just a tiny bit. But I still loved everything else about the movie. Damn that fight at the end was epic.
