This might be fun. It might be a mess. Rather than try this on Twitter and get attacked by a million assholes, I thought we could try this here. I'll start:
-I like the 1992 Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie WAAAAAAY more than the tv show -I think Firefly is dumb -I think Harry Potter is fucking boring -I hate Tom Holland's Peter Parker/Spider-man -I think Rogue One is bad (we've been over this at length, so let's please not discuss this again) -I think The Last Jedi is a great movie -I think Jack Nicholson was a better Joker than Heath Ledger
Who's next? Go on and be brave.

Don't care about either one Meh Agreed I didn't care for him either It was okay but the Vader scene was fucking awesome Haven't seen it and don't plan to Well yeah
It's late so for now I'll just go with: Except for Suicide Squad I've enjoyed the DCEU Despite it fizzling out a bit at the end Venom was a really fun movie The Last of Us is incredibly overrated RE7 was boring as shit and the first mainline game in the series I haven't enjoyed Terry's a better Batman than Bruce

-Rick & Morty is dumb. -The Dark Knight hasn't aged very well. -The Last Jedi is a masterpiece, and maybe the only Star Wars movie that can be considered such. -Diversity and representation in sci-fi are important and usually lead to better stories. -JJ Abrams made Star Trek interesting for the first time since The Next Generation. -The Game of Thrones TV show is better than the books (which I haven't read but I'm sure the show is better). -The Lord of the Rings movies are better than the books. -The Hobbit movies are actually pretty good. -Final Fantasy-style RPGs are boring and I can't see why anyone likes them.

- All Kevin Smith movies are pretentious garbage - Man of Steel is the best Superman movie (including the Christopher Reeve movies) - Superman Returns is #2 - Solo was a great movie - Spider-man: Homecoming was crap. Spider-man should just be a minor character in the Marvel Universe. Too many movies have killed SM as a viable lead character - Anime sucks

I've given Rick and Morty quite a few chances and from what I've seen it's pretty meh. For some reason the only thing that really made me chuckle was "Tiny Rick!" which is now what I call my mom's chihuahua. -Rick & Morty is dumb. -The Dark Knight hasn't aged very well. -The Hobbit movies are actually pretty good. -Final Fantasy-style RPGs are boring and I can't see why anyone likes them. Too many movies have killed SM as a viable lead character and agreed. Although I've heard great things about Into the Spider-Verse so there may be hope for Spider-Man movies.

I tried watching that again a few years ago and HOLY SHIT the dialogue is painful as fuck. -Disagree, because Christopher Reeve WAS Superman. -Disagree, Man of Steel is #2. -YES -Disagree. Homecoming was the first movie to nail both the Spidey AND Peter Parker personas. -Ghost in the Shell and Akira are awesome, but otherwise agree.

I never liked Chasing Amy. It's actually worse than Jersey Girl, which actually has an incredible supporting cast. I would rank Man of Steel after Superman III. Speaking of...sort of...Incel Nerds be screaming 'bout the Snyder cut, but there is footage out there shot for Superman II that could have been used to make an incredible movie where Ursa isn't dubbed, Jor El is the one Cal El pleads with to take his powers away, English Texas barely exists, Superman never throws his chest logo and traps Non in a weird cellophane thingy, and has a third alternate ending that's really heartfelt and powerful where Lois just tells Superman that she'll never tell anyone his secret and he doesn't make her forget the last two weeks with a super kiss or spin the world backward again.
I also fucking hate Anime

Would that be the Richard Donner cut? I really need to get around to seeing that one of these days.
Anime is really hit or miss. Love Cowboy Bebop and One-Punch Man though.

It's actually not the "Richard Donner Cut." Some of it is, and some of it was found in the ABC/TV broadcast version from the mid '80s. Some of it's apparently still sitting on a shelf somewhere.

Well shit. Maybe when they make another Superman movie in the next decade or so they'll re-re-release a new cut of Superman II with all the extra footage.

The ABC version had the extra footage, but the biggest problem was it tacked on the alternate ending with the theatrical ending and then it made no sense. It also has English Texas, which is very very bad. Sadly, I believe it did not have Zod shooting people with an M16 in the White House and really enjoying it, which is in the Donner Cut. It does have Zod, Ursa, and Non being arrested by the Arctic Patrol in the end, which means they didn't fall to their deaths in the Fortress of Solitude. Not sure how I feel about that bit.

Rick and Morty thinks it's much funnier and much smarter than it is. That's its biggest problem. After trudging through three whole seasons, it's plainly obvious to me that "Anatomy Park," "Meeseeks and Destroy," and "Rickshank Rickdemption" (I hate even typing that fucking title) are flukes. There's some very funny stuff scattered throughout other episodes like the squirrel bit from "Morty's Mindblowers" (fuck, I hate these titles) and Gazorpazorpfield, but really smart, funny stuff is rare. It's not even okay most of the time. Roiland and Harmon think they're being goddamn brilliant with every second and that the show is consistently hilarious and genius, but the only consistent thing is that it's mostly crap. I have never seen an American cartoon with it's head so far up its own ass. I, too, find Bob's Burger's completely unfunny.

The Donner Cut is much better than the theatrical cut, and you can hear Sarah Douglass's real voice sometimes, which is much better than the middle-aged woman Lester dubbed her with (some people have no idea how good Sarah Douglass actually was until they hear her real voice in some of those scenes), but it also introduces its own problems. It almost goes out of it's way to avoid Lester's stuff wherever possible, and instead of using the Super kiss of forgetting or the alternate ending where Lois agrees to keep his secret (I can't tell you how much I love that scene), he reuses Superman spinning the earth backward so he can undo the events of the last couple weeks. This is a problem because it undoes the damage caused by Zod, Ursa, and Non and removes them from Earth, but it doesn't put them back in the Phantom Zone, either. Clark also still goes and beats the shit out of the guy at the diner, who, with the world spun back, would have no idea who the fuck he is, making Clark the bully, since that guy now never beat him up in front of Lois. I still recommend giving it a watch, though. Even with the aforementioned issue, like I said, it is a major improvement over the theatrical version, which I still like, and has some great alternate and extra stuff like Zod using an M16 in the White House to kill people and just loving it so much and Lois finding out Clark is Superman in a much smarter way than jumping off a balcony.

It does appear to be in love with its own genius, but despite that, I find it consistently funny throughout. With the exception of the Morty Jr. episode. The all-female society jokes are so outdated and sexist and not even that funny. I think those nuggets of genius scattered through the series that you mention are great. That's where I find the most value. Like in the pilot episode, when they're being chased through an alien airport, and Morty knocks a hooka-type thing out of an alien's hands while he runs past him, then the green goo from inside of it grows into a child, then an adult, then an old man, all while running alongside them, before crumbling into dust and Rick says, "Don't think about it, Morty!"That shit was hilarious to me. I'm not trying to change your mind, just giving an example of the kind of joke I like that appears to be more common in the show to me.

I tried reading LOTR and that shit is soooooooooo fucking boring. Same with Harry Potter books. I like the first 3 movies. The rest suffer because they're totally without a shred of light or fun, and you can tell they're hacked apart, and don't work at all as films. Agree on RPGs being anus water. Jack was the best Joker and Keaton was the best Batman, killing and all. I've only seen Serenity, on TV, and thought it was boring and made me not care about ever seeing Firefly. X-Men are horrible, and the 90s made them a joke soap opera. The Debbie Downers of the Marvel universe. Atari blows. Always has, always will.

I'm gonna stick up for Harry Potter (the books at least). I re-read the whole series a few years ago, and they're really something special. The first couple books are 100% children's stuff, but as the series progresses and the characters get older, the books mature along with them. The stories get darker, good & evil are less black & white, the scope gets much bigger. It's pretty incredible to read a series of 7 books where the progression of structure and style mirrors the main characters as they become more aware of the world around them. Those books are great.
HOWEVER, I never liked any of the ancillary stuff that came afterwards. The movies were never anything more than a cash-grab, and those goddamn Fantastic Beasts prequels might as well not even exist. Harry Potter is the 7 books, and nothing else.

I'm with Frin on the '90s X-men thing. At least the Cartoon. I tried to watch that cartoon again recently, and it really is overdone melodramatic Canadian soap opera dogshit. How dare they do "Days of Future Past" with Bishop and his mullet instead of Kitty Pryde! Nerds who try put that show up against Batman the Animated Series, which absolutely still holds up, as the best cartoon of all time are out of their fucking minds. And I can't stand Rogue's '90s outfit. FIGHT ME, I DARE YOU! She wears a headband to keep her bigass Southern hair and sweat out of her her eyes. Fine. I don't like the way it looks, but it makes sense. But she has a full body suit (minus gloves), but she's apparently cold in it, so she needs a jacket, but the sleeves of the jacket are too long, or the jacket is too warm or something, so she has to roll up the sleeves. Why doesn't anyone just make her a warmer suit? I get it from a VERY early '90s aesthetic point of view, and the aesthetic is dumb and was silly back then, too. But from a practical standpoint, it's dumb as fuck. Cyclops' jacket doesn't make sense, either, for pretty much the same reasons, but I think he only had that in the cartoon, so I'll give him a pass.

For me, there were so many X-Men books and character spinoffs and all that shit, to make the dollars. But the stories were all intertwined and you couldn't read one or two books without having chunks missing. The stories spread like voracious cancer to every other book, and you had to get them all to make any goddamned sense of them. And in the end, they were all just fucking each other and crying about it.

Yep. I didn't read X-Men comics in the '90s, but I had that problem with Marvel in general for a while. Much preferred DC prior to them rebooting everything for no good goddamn reason eight years ago. Gail Simone's initial run on Secret Six is the best comic book series I ever read, and that includes Watchmen and League of Extraordinary Gentleman and the original run of Ninja Turtles in black and white and Neil Gaiman's Sandman and Kingdom Come. DC re-rebooted again kind of since New 52, but I can't keep up with their stuff any more, either, so I'm just reading Invader Zim comics now. It's easy, and it's nice, and it's funny, and I like it.

Ok, all this talk about the X-men cartoon reminds me that I have a doozy for you guys. I don't like Batman the Animated Series. I really don't like the flat, angular character design so much that I can't get into the stories. It's so visually uninteresting to me.
