I was riding around that area on the railroad tracks near the crater. I noticed the stairs inside the overhang by the rock and climbed up on the roof. Managed to scramble my way up the rocks and stumbled into the crater, and found the meteorite in the center. That was so fucking cool. I was hoping it would be more significant than just an odd artifact.
I have found small brush fire areas, but no exploding houses.
I love how Arthur sketches each new thing he comes across on the map or his journal.

I saved the video but haven't figured out how to share it here. Decided to kill a guy who took too much money from me at poker in Saint Denis. Started a big police chase and managed to run all the way out of town. They kept finding me and I kept killing them and running. Finally made my way to the swamp and lost the wanted level. I was about to pass out from exhaustion and the muck was up to my knees, hard to move. I went a little further just to be safe, and almost walked into an alligator. I turned around avoiding him...only to walk directly into the mouth of another gator and got eaten. It was great.

Go check out the cabin near the meteor crater. It's pretty cool.
And I think I did see an exploding house once, but it happened off-camera so I missed most of it. I can't remember where it was though.
Has anybody else come across a cart carrying a dead horse in the bayou? I found one once and my horse bucked me off and then ran off and got eaten, and I haven't seen the cart since then so I'm thinking it was a scripted event that only happens once.

^ Never saw that. It's amazing how big the world is and how many little events and Easter Eggs there are in this game.

The plant one isn’t that bad as long as you know what grows where and keep track as you go. Just keep notes of which plants you’ve picked and keep checking the challenge progress to see how many you have left, and the compendium to see which ones you still need.
Some diligent note-taking makes it a breeze.

The gambler ones are the worst. The first few are no problem, but for the later ones you have to win three hands of poker in a row and win three games of blackjack while hitting three times (which sounds pretty much impossible). Right now I'm stuck on the dominoes challenge and I have no idea how this dumb game even works.

Haha, I used to play dominoes in real life. I can't remember for the life of me. It's actually pretty simple. Just google it. I hate playing it in the game.

Never much liked dominoes. I've been trying to collect perfect pelts for my butcher to make me satchels. I still don't have the other half of the map open, so I'm going to have to wait for the iguana and panther. Just need to get a badger and raccoon. They're probably the hardest to find and get perfect. Dicks. I've gotten most of the legendary animals on this part of the map, save for the gator, elk and buck. The more time I can spend doing this and avoiding the story missions, the better.

You can get iguanas on the island west of Rhodes.

I found that island by accident while boating around trying to see how far out I could go
I think I killed every animal on the island while I was there, also found a pirate hat

I just got an iguana and the tricorn. Actually, I got a shitload of iguana skins and the tricorn. Crabs, too. Seems panthers hang out in the area below Braithwaite, but I didn't find one. Gotta try some bait and cover scent maybe. Lure it and snipe a good one. Can't believe a raccoon and badger are the hardest to get out of all these fuckers. But I'll get all the damn satchels before I do anything else.

Finally got the hang of dumb stupid dominoes. Play the high-numbered tiles first. Simple. Why doesn't the game just tell you that, unless it does in the help section which I never look at because I'm stubborn. Stupid dominoes.
Anyhow, I beat the first stupid dominoes challenge and then beat the blackjack challenge. I thought that one would take days since it's pretty much all luck, but it took less than an hour. After that is another dominoes challenge. Awesome. Win 3 games in a row. Now that I actually kinda get that game it didn't take long to win 3 in a row. The last gambler challenge is winning 3 hands of poker in a row, which sounds easier than busting out a player in the Saint Denis saloon, which took forever for some reason. I'll go play the yokels in that train station and bluff them to death.
Then that's all the challenges done. Thank Christ.

The suicide cult house is especially cool if you go there at night. There are videos on Youtube but it's way more fun if you do it yourself without having it spoiled first. Way too many Youtube clickbait assholes are ruining some of this game's best little surprises.

Oooh, I'll try it!
The "Dr. Moreau" house was an especially cool find for me. It was night time, and I was riding on a path I had ridden on a thousand times before, but this time I was in "get lost and explore" mode, so I ventured off the road in a random direction. I came across this mundane looking house almost immediately after leaving the road, which surprised me, because I figured I'd have seen it before, while passing it by. I thought it would be just another one of those empty homesteads you can rob, with nothing of note in it or no way in, even. But after walking around the whole perimeter, I saw that it might be possible to climb onto the roof of a short annex building. I decided to give it a try, and once I got up to the roof, I found an open window with light coming from inside. The window was open just enough for me to climb through and what I found on the inside was super creepy and fun!

The scale is just awesome, so there's going to be cool shit to find for a while. I haven't come across those couple of things yet. ^ But I love all the random encounters. Weird murder couple who acts like they're swingers, old Civil War soldiers still holding their posts, entire families laying dead from god knows what, murder/suicide love triangles...so much depth and thought behind all these things.
I loved happening onto the serial killers displays. Found the one in the mountains first, and just sort of let it go until I found the next spot down south.
I remember talking to one of the people, might've been in Rhodes, who mentioned a guy with a withered arm. Couple days later, exploring the swamp, I just happened on a body in the much with a withered arm.

I was stuck at around 99.4% for a long time and the only thing I was missing was the "max out all stats" requirement. Everything was level 8 and I had all the trinkets and talismans and I could not figure out what I was missing and I was afraid my game was glitched when I realized the reinforced equipment you get after completing a set of challenges doesn't just magically appear, you actually have to go to the trapper and buy it.
I can't wait to start a new game though and replay the early sections without having to learn all the subtle game mechanics and instead just follow the story and look for more small little details. I'm really gonna take my time this time through, especially the parts where Arthur is still healthy and not slowly dying of TB. Gonna be nice seeing that dude again.

found a big ass taxidermy gorilla in a busted wooden crate in a ravine
couldn't interact with it so I goes it's just one of those random things they put in the game
also found this badass log cabin up in the mountains called the loft
I honestly wouldn't mind living someplace like that in real life
there's a fully stocked pantry, nice comfy bed, wood burning stove, lookout tower that overlooks the whole south portion of the map, cellar with a full workbench, outdoors campsite with barrels of booze
it's amazing

I came across The Loft while exploring and thought the same thing. Plus, that whole area is beautiful. All those hills covered in grass and flowers, then it leads down into the Yellowstone-type area with the geysers and mineral hot springs.

Anyone find a treehouse near the Southern border in New Austin? I found it with a friend online whilst exploring.
Also, while replaying Red Dead Redemption, I heard Bonnie mention that she had a suitor who had gone off in search of adventure or something. I was instantly rewarded for replaying the first game when I went back to RDR 2 and came upon a small boat wreck on the beach near Annesburg. I tried looting the lone body that was laying next to the boat, but he suddenly grabbed my hand and placed a letter in it before actually dying. The letter was addressed to Bonnie McFarlane and it apologized to her for leaving or something like that. So cool!

I met the king of the trees when looking for the legendary elk. He ran back in his tree and kept yelling at me to go away until I firebombed the opening.
So I've been trying to get a 3 star panther for my final item specific satchel. Keep fucking it up or getting killed, and I've got a spot saved where one shows up in the same place not long after reload. Tried about 20 times today but it never goes right. I need to try the repeater, because my wife went and tried it and got one on her first try. I guess the guns I was trying were too powerful and messed it up even though I'd get him in the face.
