So, I realized after seeing ghostrider's post about the PS4 bundle that we were in a general video game thread, which I had forgotten because of all the RDR talk. Here's a thread where we can talk about it WITH SPOILERS!
Also, whatever happened to spoiler tags? Those were handy.
Anyway, I just got to the part in RDR when John tells Landon Ricketts (I forgot about that badass!) why he's after Bill and Javier and everything he says is straight out of the final chapter in RDR 2. I love it when writers do their homework. It's very rewarding.

That part in the final Arthur mission where your horse gets shot, and dying Arthur leans in and whispers “Thank you”... holy cow. That completely destroyed me. The game is full of shootouts and chases but that was the most memorable moment in the entire story.

Yeah, that got me too. I even had Buell, Hamish, The Veteran's horse. So it was a unique NPC already.
What was the thing you noticed after the credits?

At John’s ranch late at night I saw a dark shadowy figure on the ridge above the barn. When I went to check it out the figure was gone but the spot where it was standing was right where John’s grave is in RDR1. Spooky.
I also saw a ghost train at night near Rhodes while hunting for opossum.

That's awesome!
I noticed that there's a vampire listed in the credits. I saw a thumbnail on youtube of a Nosferatu looking guy in Saint Denis. I really want to avoid using guides for anything in this game. I love stumbling across stuff as opposed to being told where to look for it.
I found a fucking viking hatchet that can be thrown and picked up again, along with a viking helmet that Uncle and Abigail both comment on if you wear it home. Also, a broken, but still functioning, pirate cutlass. Apparently, there's a ton of legendary weapons hidden all over.

Where was the viking helmet? The closest thing I've found to something like that was the dead Jesuit priest in New Austin, but all he had on him was a letter.

Also, I like how the last legendary fish is actually impossible to catch. The giant 200 lb catfish in New Austin that Jeremy Gill takes you to after you've caught all the other ones. I spent an embarrassingly long time trying to catch it before I realized it was just Rockstar trolling everybody.

The Viking stuff is in Roanoke Ridge and west of the river and Annesburg. It's a little North of where the map says there are cougars.

I had a bunch of incendiary buckshots I had been saving and decided to bust them out for that gunfight
it was like a fireworks show

I've been using www.rdr2map.com to track down the points of interest all over the map. I love how John's little sketches on the map are way more primitive than Arthur's.

there was an update today but they still haven't fixed the HDR implementation
that's all I've been waiting on
it's hard to go back to an SDR picture after playing games like spider-man and forza horizon 4 with amazing HDR

That shit was hilarious! Lots of a great bits, but the best has to be shopping for boots and getting a bath during the gunfight. Nicely edited. Maybe it was dynamiting crows. Or casually tossing a fish on the poker table. LENNY!!!!!! Fishing with the boah. Horse shenanigans. Whole goddamn thing. Yeah.

I loved how he ran away from jack across half the map and thought he lost him and then at the very end there's jack standing there with his fishing rod

Not me, I don't do online games. This one is already brilliant in the way it encourages you to interact with the world in interesting ways, and rewards you for thinking outside the box.
I've been working through the challenges, and some of are really fun in how they get you to be creative with the game mechanics. But they also turn you into a coldhearted bastard. I was stuck for a long time on the "kill 4 enemies with one stick of dynamite" challenge, and then much later while doing something unrelated I discovered if you're on foot and you have the lasso equipped, you automatically hogtie people when you tackle them. If they're an enemy, the game still registers them an enemy once they're tied up. I have an idea! I load up on health tonics, find an enemy campsite, and start tackling dudes and chugging tonics until I have them all tied up. I start hauling them into one spot, piling them up like angry racist cords of wood. Then I take a step back and toss some dynamite on the pile and win the challenge that way.
The next challenge is killing 4 enemies consecutively with the same tomahawk. I use the same strategy, tackling and hogtying dudes, but this time I line them up in a neat little row. I aim the tomahawk at the first dude's head, *THUNK*, the guy next to him freaks out and cries for Jesus, I pick up the tomahawk and keep going down the line, *THWAK*, *SPLATCH*, *WHACK*.
The weapons expert challenges really make you get creative with stuff, and they turn you into a stonecold murderer. I'm at level 6 or 7 on that list and my honor level went from maxed out to right in the middle of the scale.

^ haha, damn! I need to get on those challenges.
As for online, it's fun playing co-p in this world with friends. Seeing my partner looking at me while we ride horses alongside each other and then getting clotheslined by a tree is hilarious. Also, Getting drunk together in the saloon by chugging entire bottles of whisky and tossing the bottles all over the floor before attempting parkour on the rooftops of Blackwater and failing miserably was a blast.
It's also cool meeting familiar faces from the first RDR that weren't featured in the RDR 2 storyline. I ran into Bonnie McFarlane! I was pretty psyched.

My horses: Bootsy - A massive chestnut Shire I stole from the Grays when I burned their fields. Very calm and attentive. Buckaroo Banzai - Gray Kentucky Saddler that I tamed. Generally a good horse. Plopper - Black Arabian, super fast. Kind of a pissy asshole. Very anxious. Most likely to become expensive glue. Walter the Blue-Eyed Girl Horse - American Paint with blue eyes that I stole from a dead person...that I made dead. She's the newest, but very responsive. Fast enough.
It sucked, I tamed a tiny donkey, but you can't keep them. So I rode it for a while and set it free.

I tried naming one horse Ziggy Stardust but it got blocked by the profanity filter. That was weird.
I’ve had Django (liberated from the Klan), Dashiell R. Parr (white Arabian I tamed in the mountains), Peter Nincompoop, Jules Winnfield, Sweet Dee, Death Horse 2000, and right now I’m riding Det. John Shaft, a gray Mustang and an absolute badass of a horse.

^ That's cool. I found a huge burnt out area of forest and no clue what caused it.
Has anyone else witnessed a house on the prairie randomly exploding?
