So, I'm curious. Why did Bonger create another iteration of himself just to make an ambiguously snarky remark and never come back to follow-up? I don't think it was friendly advice it was a warning. He has never come back to follow-up because the Fuckin' guy is out in the desert somewhere patiently waiting for you to hike by.

Ran across a rattlesnake this morning. Scared the shit out of me, until I realized it was dead. Fuckin' 'ell.

Everytime I see this thread's title, I hear Nick Offerman as Axe Cop in my head saying "I need a partner, now."

I wished for your safety and mentioned that there are unsavory types in the monument sometimes. What's the problem? I don't spend a lot of time here.

Not sure how I'd handle seeing a gator. Dead rattler was enough. lol
Haven't missed a Saturday since we started.

I live in Florida so its not super scary, pretty average, saw a big motherfucker one time, i'll have to dig out the picture. He was on this fallen log in this part of the river that was like 20 feet below where we were walking, real steep incline the the water. Ive spent the past few years trying to figure out how that monster got on that log

As long as it wouldn't be able to crawl to me for eating, then fine. We get up at 5am to get ready, and generally get done around 9am. Might hit a grocery store or something on the way home, then kick back with some TV for an hour or so, then take a nap. And I swear, I have the most vivid and intense dreams after every hike. Fucking crazy shit.

Love those pics. Makes the trickly little flow of water and dying vegetation I had the other day look like nothin'. lol We've been 18 weekends straight now. We also go walking on a paved path along the river(bed) nearby about 4 times a week, around 12 miles total there, and 5 miles hiking. It's finally started to wear us down, so we're taking it easy this week and not going hiking Saturday. Hadn't really been paying attention, just feeling more and more worn out earlier and earlier in the day. Been pushing it pretty hard I guess. Last Saturday.

^ HA! This was from the other day on a walk near the house. I upped the saturation some because it better matches what I was seeing through my sunglasses. This was from this morning, about 6:30. Sun didn't climb over the mountain until we were about halfway back. So that was nice. Stopped on the boulders where we usually turn back, and had a snack of summer sausage and crackers in the cool air. There was a squirrel hanging out on a rock above us, just relaxing and watching us the whole time. Cool little dude, but I didn't get a good picture of him.

It was freezing overnight, and had high humidity. The backside of the mountains were still coated in the snow that we got on New Year's Eve. Everything was white this morning, and coated in ice crystals like this.
