I need to watch that again in HD, but I really liked how you think it's going to be a CG cutscene and then it turns out to be what I assume is next-gen gameplay minus the hud. It would've been cool to get an idea of new gameplay mechanics, so far it just looks like they added Injustice's environmental interactivity, but it was succesful at getting me excited for more MK. Now the big question is, will it be next-gen only? If so WB Games, will even more than before, be the biggest reason to upgrade.
EDIT: WB has confirmed that in addition to PS4 & Xbox One, it will be released on PS3, 360, and PC. No WiiU, *snicker*. It will also introduce some new characters which has mostly gone horribly wrong for the series, I just hope they don't cut my favorites.

YEEEYUH I can play it. And long as I can still play a non-cyborg Sub-Zero I don't care who's in it.

That was gameplay. It looks the same but in Unreal Engine 4. Which to me is perfect, but I'm no tournament level fighting game player.
I'd really like to see a new Deception/Armageddon style Konquest mode on top of the amazing MK9 style story mode. I dunno how it'd work now that they've gone back to a 2D plane, but I loved free-roaming in a mini RPG in the MK universe.

In that case, it still looks really choppy and slow, but awesome as hell. Unfortunately, I'm used to going really deep into fighting games now and am very competitive with them since I can get so good and that causes me to not have as much fun with games that are too slow and clunky. I really wish MK sought out new talent for the game play section of the game and tried to make it able to compete with Tekken, MvC 3, and Street Fighter. Everything else they do is perfect. And it was the first video game franchise I ever fell in love with.

I agree. Other than occasionally playing some Tekken at a couple of arcades over the years I never cared for any fighting game series other than Mortal Kombat (and Injustice). MK9 is so good I hope they don't change it too much.
I will say that getting in a cheap shot or two after beating your opponent in Tekken is pretty awesome.

They probably get boring because of how much style they lack in comparison to MK. I just don't like how every character in MK is essentially the exact same character, with like, a different skin. There isn't much variety to the move sets or even how the non special moves look. I still have fun with MK, the last one, but the novelty wears off too quickly for me. That one did have the best fighting system of all, though.

I can't say I don't like the characters and atmosphere of MK more than I like actually playing it, though to be fair the playing them part is my least favorite aspect of most fighting games--it's usually the customization, unlockables, or story that keep me entertained. That's why I want more Konquest mode, so I can just screw around in the MK universe when I'm not in the mood for the core game. Actually if they made it more like a mini GTA so you could cause all sorts of gory chaos as any character you want, and do missions in a less linear fashion than the old ones, that would be my shit. So which kombatants would you guys most like to see return? For me, I'd be happy if Kano was the only other character besides Scorpion and Sub-Zero. But it'd be nice to see Kabal, Cyrax, Nightwolf, Jax, & Stryker again too. I think the last 3 were dead as of MK9's ending so I'm not sure how likely their return'll be.

A non Cyber Sub-Zero mainly. There's not many core MK characters I don't like. Wonder if they'll bring in any of the newer characters from MK4 onwards? I didn't really get to play of those so I don't know if there's anybody worth bringing in.
And if I recall the only good guys not dead at the end of MK9 were Raiden, Johnny, and Sonya. You know that'll change. Someone dies every game just to come back in the next one. Just like comics nowadays really.

Kenshi is the only one really worth a damn. Reiko and Mavado were okay but I'd be content with new characters instead. Skarlet was a decent addition in MK9 so I wouldn't mind seeing her return, she felt more like an MK character than anyone else from 4-7.

I've been told before that Kenshi's the only one worth a damn. I should really get on downloading the MK9 DLC characters.

Kenshi and Skarlet are nice additions, they won't disappoint. Oh yeah, and for post-MK3 characters Quan Chi and Shinnok are cool too ofcourse, they're so ingrained in the mythology now that I forget to lump them in with the rest.

I didn't get into 'em until later, my friends raved about the addition of the krypt and minigames like kart racing, but after Soul Calibur II, the 3D MK's looked assy to me so I didn't really give 'em a chance. But when Armageddon boasted the return of every character I decided to pick it up as a party game and ended up loving it, even though that one lacked unique fatalities. Then I went back and got the other two as well. They don't look like much at first but they capture the fun of the originals really well, and while you can strafe around the arena in 3D, it isn't used too often--but going back to a 2D plane was def the right move. And like I've been saying, the Konquest mode in Deception and Armageddon is really cool, it's a whole separate 3rd person adventure throughout the different realms.

I've tried since they first hit arcades to get into fighters. I've played them a bunch, but the genre is not for me.
Last I played was the MK where you had to run around and come across the characters to unlock them. After that I just admitted that I didn't care about fighters at all and gave up bothering.

I still hope they put Shaolin Monks on PSN someday. I've heard good things about it. I've seen the intro cutscene and it's pretty badass.

I have it and it's alright but I don't think I like it as much as most people. I found the difficultly frustrating, there might be a lower difficulty, I'll have to look into that if I start it over again. So far, I prefer the Konquest modes for an MK adventure fix.

You'd think the prospect of online co-op would be a no brainer but so far Boon's only teased the possibility of re-releasing it. And you can play as Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Personally I think the team of Subz and Kung Lao would be awesome as shit.

That's why I want an MK adventure game where you can play as any character, cuz everyone has their own favorites. Ofcourse a game built around two specific characters can be more detailed and focused. But they could do it like Resident Evil's A & B campaign structure and have all 20+ characters take slightly different routes and see a few different things each. And maybe have randomized enemies and loot to keep things fresh. And have a large open-world central hub connecting all of the realms. That'd be ambitious as hell, but awesome.
