This Olympics has been kind of boring. But as we are heading into the final stretch for the games I find myself actually enjoying some of these sports.
1. Hockey is pretty amazing. I really enjoyed seeing the Norwegian team take to the ice against some formidable opponents. I enjoyed rooting against Canada. I felt they had too many professionals on a team that should have been all college guys. I am in the middle of the Gold Medal game between US and Canada right now. It's pretty interesting. I have never watched a Hockey game before. I like it. 2. Ski Jumping. This sport spoke to me. If I were a winter olympian I would really want to be a Ski Jumper. To most it seems pretty boring. I couldn't get enough of it. I think I may have annoyed my Girlfriend with my intense interest. 3. Curling, both Men's and Women's. This has been a favorite of mine for a long time now. I started paying attention to it like three winter olympics ago and it has gotten better each time. 4. Cross Country Snowboarding. This was intense. Especially with the poor quality of the course. I guess it's strange but I liked watching people blow their knees out and get concussions. It made the event scary.
Overall this was a decent Olympics. Your thoughts.

We've been watching prime time every night.
I've enjoyed most of the events, but found the ski half-pipe to be boring. The snowboarders get some great air and tricks, the skiers just kind of "meh" their way down. Lame new event.
Ski jumping annoys me because it doesn't require anything to do with winter and snow. They're on a ramp made of synthetic materials to ensure the greatest speed. I wonder if they get upset if there's snow on the ramp. As for landing, they might as well be landing on anything at all for the 1/4 of a second the contact they make matters. It's neat to watch, but they could do it in 115 degree weather and it'd be the exact same event. Many of the sports have kept their purity, but ski jumping is not one of them. But it is entertaining and I wouldn't want to see it gone.
After watching curling the past several times around, there is a lot of strategy and precision in what they do. It's a fun one.
I despise hockey, so glad it hasn't hit prime time and that America is only slightly more interested in it than soccer.
The figure skating has become more enjoyable over the years. I don't know why they added the team competition, except to hand out more medals for the same thing twice. I guess Russia figured they'd get it anyway, so they're happy to have it. But it takes a lot away from the singles since we now get the same programs twice from the skaters who participate. I dislike the ice dancing, tough. So silly.
Snowboard and ski cross were great fun.
I love the downhill skiing events. With the shitty conditions Russia created with their poor location and last year's snow out of storage, it took some crazy skill for the men and women to get down those hills successfully.
Cross-country and biathlons are boring to watch unless you're a Norwegian addicted to it like crack. Again, glad they kept that out of prime time.
I am amazed that Russia pulled it off, corrupt and poorly planned as the whole thing was. Ignoring all the other negatives that could be pointed to, it turned out to be a very successful Olympic games.
