In 2015 we'll get 13 episodes each of Daredevil, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage. And after that, a crossover miniseries where they team up to form the Defenders. Sounds a lot like Phase 1 of the movie universe, only focused on street-level characters with a lower budget. This could be insanely cool if it works. I love how ambitious Disney/Marvel are getting with this stuff. Now we just have to hope these Netflix shows are better than Agents of SHIELD... www.bleedingcool.com/2013/11/07/daredevil-jessica-jones-iron-fist-and-luke-cage-headed-to-netflix-in-2015/

How 'bout that Punisher series fuckers have been talking about for a while. Netflix would be the perfect place for it. Also assuming Jed and Mrs. Jed aren't involved in any of these series, the odds of their being better than Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. are pretty good.

A Punisher series could be really cool, but that's a character I don't want to see brought into the same universe as the Marvel Studios movies. Maybe a cameo or two from Nick Fury (grizzled, old, white version), but otherwise Punisher works best separated from the rest of the Marvel universe, like the awesome Garth Ennis MAX series.

Tell that to Ray Stevenson lol. No, I think you're right, as long as they don't go all stupid and cartoony for no reason like War Zone. I like Tom Jane Punisher best because he was dark enough to be badass but not so dark that he could't conceivably fight alongside (and have fun interactions with) Tobey Maguire Spidey. But they can definitely do a lot more with the character if he isn't constrained by the moral mirror of other heroes.

Ray Stevenson was a kickass Punisher. The movie wasn't that great, but he was awesome in it.
I just don't understand why studios have such a hard time making a good Punisher movie. It's not that hard a premise to get right, but they always wind up over-complicating things by moving the story to Florida or dangling Frank from a chandelier to shoot guys while he spins around upside-down like a Christmas tree ornament of death. Stupid.

The Florida thing was due to budget, the War Zone stuff was due to dumbasses.

Maybe a cameo or two from Nick Fury (grizzled, old, white version), but otherwise Punisher works best separated from the rest of the Marvel universe, like the awesome Garth Ennis MAX series. Regardless of all that, The Punisher rights have gone back to Marvel Studios, and a while ago, there was talk about an ABC series, which would be a really bad idea. Also keeping Frank on a gritty, violent, intense, TV-MA/viewer discretion advised type show could easily allow him to be in the Marvel Studios Universe but keep him separate from the movies and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and shit. Besides, Frank's been in some great stories with Daredevil, so I think keeping those two completely separate could be a disservice. I say Allow the occasional (but not frequent) mention of stuff that's happened in the movies, let him interact with Murdock, and maybe even Fury (and I'm perfectly okay with it being Sam Jackson if he wants to do it), but keep him away from the Avengers. AND And for God's sake, KEEP ABC AND MR. AND MRS. JED THE FUCK AWAY!

He drinks a potion he made that gives him powers for an hour. At least he did in the 40s. Now he uses a flippin' transdermal patch. Really heavy stuff, yo. You can already imagine the number of episodes where he doesn't have access to his potion and teaches us that mankind doesn't need special powers to save the day.

Wow. Hourman. And on CW no less. The last DC project I read about was a John Constantine show David Goyer and one of the Mentalist producers were developing for NBC.

This is huge fucking news to me since I love Daredevil. These shows will probably be much better than AoS, since they will focus on already established comic book heroes and they may even get their own movies and join the Avengers! HOLY FUCKING SHIT I LOVE THIS.

Considering the quality of "Orange is the New Black" that's on Netflix, and the fact that they want to expand in the market and gain new subscribers, I reckon they'll put some good effort into making sure these are quality as well.

And the show-runner for the Jessica Jones series will likely be Melissa Rosenberg. I've never heard of her, but after checking IMDB she was a producer/writer on Dexter (back when it was really good) and she wrote the last few Twilight movies (uh-oh). Lots of TV shows on her resume. Apparently she was also working on a Jessica Jones series for ABC a few years ago before it fell apart, so she has some history with the character. That show was going to be about a B-list superhero hanging up the tights and opening a detective agency, which is the plot of the AMAZINGLY GREAT OHMYGOD GO READ IT RIGHT NOW comic series Alias. If they're taking the same approach to this new show without the constraints of a network it should be pretty darn good.

Christ. There's a serious intent in the construction of these series.
Daredevil: Head Jones: Heart Cage: Hand
Inevitably, Rand's story will focus on the spirit.
Yeah, they all have strong characters, but burned down to the core of the match, that's where they finish.

I'm assuming you mean those are the themes of each show. But, I can't extrapolate how each one is so.

DD was a lot of mental games. JJ had the mental fuckery, but it was about her learning to love herself. LC is pretty blunt, not a lot of depth, but I haven't finished it yet. It seems to be about power, physical and figurative. IF will focus on the strength of spirit and what it can overcome.

Nice. There's also Daredevil's bulletproof cowl being broken and upgraded and Luke Cage using his fists to punch through walls and crush things a lot.
