Anyone else just feel kinda "meh" about what was shown?
Maybe it's just that my tastes are changing, but I just don't feel as excited seeing what's going to be offered.
Here's my personal rundown on what I've seen so far:
1.) I like vinyl figures so I'll probably grab a few of the Funko Walking Dead Mystery Minis and some of the Loyal Subjects GI Joes.
2.) I like the Kasual Friday Big Screen Superstars mini figures of Ash, Rocky, Drago, Robocop, and Phantom...but I won't search them out. If I see them I might get them depending on price point though.
3.) Hasbro...*sigh*
The news about Legends and Marvel U really sucks. I feel like Hasbro has just lost track of what it takes to be a toy company. That being said, I do like the Legends Puck wave, Venom Punisher, Tigershark, Batroc, X-Force Archangel, Wrecker, Bulldozer, and Rescue; and the Marvel Universe Rhino, Mysterio, Black Knight, Omega Red, Thor 2 "Bare Arms" Thor w/ cloak, Avengers Shield Gear Red Skull, and Iron Man Assemblers Neutrino Armor and Igor Armor.
Now what I actually get from that list depends on what they look like once I see them in person and if they actually get to retail.
(Oh, and the Star Wars Black 6 inch figures do look pretty damned sweet. I was going to limit myself to Boba Fett and Vader...but I might get that Maul)
4.) NECA
I like the quarter scale Keaton Batman and the 60’s Batman Heroclix, but whether I get them is another story.
I like Thermal Dutch, White Anglo-Saxon Predator, and Nightstorm Predator (and I'll most likely get all three of them).
ED-209...if I can find one...I'll get it.
I like the Simpsons figures, but the first five don't do much for me.
5.) Money-muh-muh-Money Mattel.
I like the MOTU Classics of Clamp Champ, Jitsu, Batros, and Ram Man...but I won't pay all but 40 bucks after shipping for them.
Everything else (despite there being some pretty...and some pretty neat) stuff, either does nothing for me, is too expensive, or is stuff I don't care to collect.

I felt underwhelmed last year, this year there was hardly anything to get excited about. Hasbro abandoned the die-hard Marvel fans and G.I. Joe is still all backed up from the movie delay. NECA showed good stuff but promised a lot more reveals. They should've at the very least shown Bishop at any stage in development, and even though my interest in Bioshock Infinite was fleeting, it seemed like a Booker reveal would be a definite. And they screwed themselves on the 1/4 Avengers by making them out of scale/uniform. Overall, I want the revamped Elder Pred, MU Omega Red, and think the 1/6 MK line could be sweet. Just expected to see more and for Hasbro to not cancel two of its biggest lines.

Yeah, I'm really surprised at how little new stuff was shown that actually interested me this year. Most of what was shown was on the web a while ago. It was nice seeing the new Walking Dead TV figures. I was really hoping to see some new Rambo figures, more movie Colonial Marines or the Alien Queen.

They cancelled Marvel Legends and Marvel Universe. They say they'll live on under movie designated lines but it's not very encouraging.

Since the Marvel movies are at the top of the pop culture totem pole at the moment, I can totally see why they'd do that.
But yeah, the reveals at SDCC this year were extremely underwhelming. NECA showed maybe 3 or 4 figures they hadn't shown before, and most of those were either repaints or updates of older figures. Hasbro showed series 2 of the 6" Star Wars line, but again only two of those (Han and Slave Leia) were figures we didn't already know about. Boba Fett in series 2 is the exact same as the exclusive version (w/o the carbonite accessory), which is a big relief to people worried about not getting the exclusive. So far no new reveals in the 3 3/4" line, except for a bunch with boring 90s style articulation. I was hoping they'd show the rumored Darth Plagueis figure, but so far no dice. Hopefully when the panel presentation .PDF goes online later in the week we'll finally see some new stuff.

True, it does make some business sense, but it could cost them in the longrun. The problem is those were the lines geared toward collectors and hardcore fans where the movie lines are usually dumbed down for kids and feature less character diversity. Maybe the quality will stay the same but it seems unlikely, same with getting obscure characters made. It may get retailers to order more (like we need more Avengers pegwarming) but it's a big diss to the loyal fans and could lose them a big chunk of their fanbase that wouldn't grow out of their stuff in a couple years and would still buy when there's no movie in theaters. I give it 2 years before the Star Wars fans get burned. Well I guess cancelling the Clone Wars line already did that for some. But 2 years until the Black Series' 5 point articulation Vader that suddenly costs double and only ships to 3 states.

Yay for 5 dozen more slightly varied fucking Avengers figures! Somewhere people must be buying them up, but never anywhere I look.

Only thing that I was remotely interested in was something shown last year, the Sideshow PF of Sauron. After getting a pic of that bad boy from a buddy thats there, and hearing the scale of it, if I didn't have a vacation planned in Dec, that mofo would be mine

I wish I could actually get excited about anything that was shown and not seen before. I kind of can't. Wave 2 of Star Wars Black looks sweet, and there are a bunch of of Super Alloy 1/4 Iron Man figures suits coming out that look cool, but those are the half-second suits from Iron Man 3 and they're about $600... *shrugs shoulders* Aside from scoring an exclusive Boba Fett and Han in Carbonite, which was hard as fuck to do, toys really weren't a highlight for me this year. I met Edward James Olmos, Tim Bradstreet (who also signed a print for me along with Tom Jane, and they did it for FREE!), Tom Jane, Brent Spiner, Glenn Hetrick and Ve Neill (they were together), Anthony from Face Off, and Jason Mewes. I saw the last Warehouse 13 panel and went to the Kevin Smith Q&A. That was Comic Con for me this year.
