Despite their iffy quality, I was bummed when the Unimax Gamestars line died a quiet death around a year ago. If you don't remember, they produced the 3 & 3/4" licensed video game figures that were mostly found at Target. The articulation was lacking and the paints were spotty, but they were generous with the highly accurate accessories and it was just cool to get figures from games no one else was touching, like Red Faction! And smaller, more affordable figures from games like Assassin's Creed and Crysis. Now it looks like the Gameforged line is going to just about the same thing, only with a stronger focus on main characters only and fewer accessories; both wise business decisions that will hopefully aid in keeping the line going. Their first 3 licenses are the new Army of Two game (which ditched Salem & Rios so that's kinda wack), Crysis 3 (makes me very happy since I've got my Gamestars nanosuit posed with a G.I. Joe compound bow and now I can get one that's game-accurate), and the new Splinter Cell (people love that series and even for non-fans could make a great Joe-sized spec-ops guy. Not much else seems to be known except that BBTS has them listed for July release in New Zealand, so I guess we'll see 'em in the fall? These could even be made by the same company as Gamestars now that I think about it, the font is even similar. However it turns out, this is cool news.
