Two more districts and I'm done. The riddles seem easy compared to the first two games.

High-five for pretty much completing the game at the same time! Not sure if I'm gonna finish the Dark Knight trials, they aren't that fun to me but I might just do 'em while screwing around trying to find Anarky tags and stuff when I'm discouraged by being unable to get into a multiplayer match. I wonder what the story DLC'll be, I want it now! Maybe Robin's first mission? That'd be cool. I hope it's longer than Harley's Revenge but I don't expect it to be.

I wonder if they'll continue what the after the credits scene teased or save it for a sequel.

Aww man, just read the story DLC is Bruce Wayne in Asia training to become a ninja. So, Batman Begins. As much as I love TDK trilogy I loved Arkham for being its own thing more in the vain of the animated series. I know there was ninja training in every iteration but a lot of Origins felt like it was trying to be more like the movies and that's how this seems to me. We'll get to play in a new locale which is a plus but it's not what I was hoping for. I'm still on the fence with the season pass, I usually stick with 1 or 2 skins and only dabble with the challenge rooms so it doesn't seem very worth the $20.
Also read up on "I Am The Knight" mode that unlocks after beating New Game +. You get one life and no checkpoints, that sounds completely miserable. (EDIT: Apparently it has checkpoints so you can quit & continue but if you die you start the whole game over, so people are just pausing & quitting right before dying to beat it and get the trophy, rendering the whole mode useless lol.)
I'm really enjoying multiplayer now but waiting 40 minutes to get into a match only to have it hard-freeze your system halfway through the round several times over is fucked.

Oh, sweet. I thought otherwise because the article I read quoted the producer saying it would add a lot of backstory, probably just hype bs. Really glad the story DLC will be something else.

Had my best multiplayer match yet, 15/4. It can be really fun once you get the hang of it. Still feels like a bare bones rough draft but I see potential, I'd like for it to become a thing.

Why skip Origins? It's more Bat-fun! Plus, there's a chance the next one'll be next-gen only.

It'd be nice to see other heroes get this kind of treatment. I'd love a Superman game of Arkham caliber.

That could be really cool but I would not wanna be the guy in charge of the logistics. The true Superman experience is basically all cheat codes activated, infinite open worlds with no barriers.

Looks like patch 1.03 is live. Hope I get less freezes in mp but I'm assuming it's mostly for singleplayer.
I thought of some candidates for new multiplayer modes:
Capture & Hold - teams get points for controlling venom containers, heroes win by blowing them all up before either team reaches the goal score.
4 vs. 4 heroes vs. villains - Batman, Robin, Catwoman, Nightwing vs. Joker, Bane, Deathstroke, & 4th could be anyone, Deadshot, Croc...

I think the one thing the Superman Returns game did right was Superman didn't have a health bar Metropolis did. If you fight Metallo and the city sustains too much damage then it's game over. If they did something like that then I could see it working. Plus flying around in an open-world Metropolis is a must. Something else I think would be kind of cool is Clark Kent investigative journalism bits. You find out about a villain causing problems then using the info you've found you figure out how to stop them. Or something along those lines.

Why skip Origins? It's more Bat-fun! Plus, there's a chance the next one'll be next-gen only. Going by most of what I've read, Origins sounds pretty Bat-subpar compared to the Bat-awesomeness of the first two. I knew changing Bat-developers would be a bat move, and I'd really rather not play an entire game of the same lesser Bat-quality as the Harley's Revenge DLC. Maybe someday when it's really cheap, but right now it's a Bat-pass.

Most agree the GTA IV was the low point of the series but that doesn't mean it wasn't a worthwhile or even great experience for fans. A ton of people (maybe most) are saying Origins has the best story of the series, I don't agree, but it must do something right to get so much praise. It sounds like your mind is made up, but I'll just say one last time because I don't want my criticisms to be the reason you hold off; I'm pretty sure you'll have a blast playing it! I still am.

Grand Theft Auto IV is a goddamn masterpiece with the most engrossing plot and characters I've ever seen in a game. What some people call boring about that game, I call layered and nuanced storytelling. It's amazing.
But the thing that turns me off about Arkham Origins isn't the story, it's that most reviews I've read seem to say that the gameplay is much less polished than in the first two, with the combat and movement not quite as fluid. But about the story, making it a prequel wasn't a choice I would've made. The great thing about Asylum and City were that they had all these references to classic Batman stories, as if the game took place in the same universe as every great Batman comic and cartoon. It was it's own thing, but it also felt connected to everything great that came before. It didn't need to have it's own concrete origin story.
I don't mean to shit all over a game I haven't played. Lots of people obviously really like it, so it must be doing something right. It's just not one I feel like I need to buy right away like I did with the first two. And if Rocksteady really is working on an Arkham City sequel for PS4 and Xbone, then that might be the game that convinces me to finally get a PS4. Hell, what if it isn't even a Batman game? What if they take a similar formula and make an equally awesome Superman game? A next-gen game that treats Supes as faithfully as they treated Bats would be mind-blowingly cool.

I agree that Origins wasn't essential and isn't even the origin I would've wanted because it breaks ties with the rich history of the animated universe you mentioned and does its own gritty angry thing; which some people prefer so now the playerbase is split and we'll have to hear complaints about Rocksteady's next game being too "comic booky". It really just boils down to, do you want more Arkham to play right now? I did so I'm havin' a great time. Ghostrider just mentioned the Superman thing. I don't like Superman nearly as much, I think it could be really cool but I'd be devastated if that was Rocksteady's next joint. Luckily, Kevin Conroy already let it slip that it's another Arkham.

What it Conroy just recorded a Batman cameo for a Superman game? DON'T KILL MY DREAMS!!!
Although an Arkham City sequel based on the "Night of the Owls" storyline from the comics would be pretty damn cool too. It takes place on a single night, with Batman and his allies fighting a shadow army all over Gotham. Perfect for a video game.

I have to check that story out, I've heard a lot of praise for it. The upcoming DCC figure of Talon(?) looks awesome. And sidenote, what's the story with Joker's face being stapled on in the new 52?
