Just wondering if its just me or not, but does anyone else like it more when their books are all from the same publication? I really think it adds to the look of the bookshelf when some of the books series have the same cover and all that.
Trying to do that with David Gemmel's books. Get them ALL in the same publication, or at the very least have the different series in the same, if the older ones aren't re-released.

Consistency is definitely nicer. I could get all the original printings of the Resident Evil novels (which have nicer cover art) pretty cheap online, but I already bought the reissue of the first one, so I'd rather get the entire set of those instead. It similarly sucks getting a hardcover of the first book in a series and ending up with the softcover of a later volume. Like you said, just doesn't look as awesome on the shelf.

Agreed. I usually avoid hardcover books anyhow, most I read don't come out as such, so I'm lucky that way. Or if I do get a hardcover, its usually not from a series and in the bargain section at Chapters

I used to avoid hardcovers cuz they seemed like they were so nice I wouldn't want to read them for fear of messing them up, but now it's my preferred format for my favorite books. After setting the dust jacket aside they're sturdier than I thought and ...they just feel fancy.

Debating getting The Game Of Thrones book in HC. Got the direwolf bookends and think the paperbacks look kinda small between them.

A few of my Preachers are different printings from the bulk of the collection and it bothers me. I do enjoy having all my books in one collection match. Robert Kirkman is a nut about this, too and so all his books' looks are very consistent. It makes me love him even more.

The only way I'd like my books to be from various publications is if not a single one matched. Otherwise, if I have two books from the same publication and the rest are all different, it looks stupid to me. All my Hannibal Lecter books are from different places and it looks fine to me.

I agree Necro, I've been doing pretty good with getting matching ones. Like I said, its a pain with Dragonlance with how many different series's there are within that realm. But I do it when I can. Lucked out with Terry Goodkind's books and got more than half of them at Value Village all the same, its kind of what started this quest of mine lol

Matching volumes are nice, when you can get them. Honestly though, it doesn't bother me that much. I'm just glad to have the stuff on the shelf. I think the one true exception would be if I did the comic binding thing. Then I'd want the books to match up.
