What-- no way, isn't he from like the '40's? From a time when men were MEN? That would be like saying Rock Hudso oohhh I gotcha....... JK Me personally, I'm leaning towards Olsen, Wally West, or as mentioned above, Alan Scott.

Why am I not surprised about the speculation regarding magicians?

Walton and Johnson radio. Do they still broadcast out of Houston? They've jumped around so many times I don't know what station they're on anymore. How do you get their broadcast?

^ That's normal. I wouldn't mind if Superman was gay. Anyone else really. Batman just doesn't seem right to be a gay man. And I'm not homophobic or anything. Quite the opposite in fact. Wait, that didn't sound right...

Do any FANS really give a dried, white dog shit? Is your favorite hero coming out going to ruin your life? Will it provide something you've been missing in comics? Even though you know they're going to make it a wimp move. No one you care about, much, is going to wave the flag.
Like OK said, this is DC begging for attention. It's a business opportunity.

At first I thought this thread was asking if anyone wanted to go gay.
"I'm going gay guys! Who's with me?"

Like OK said, this is DC begging for attention. It's a business opportunity. Exactly. It's always this anyway, either the big multi issue/ issue crossing events and if those don't sell like they hope then they move to the controversial. Back in 1992 it was killing Superman, then other heroes, (Cap obviously), then the open identity of Spiderman, and now homosexuality. It's funny how many people forget that the idea behind comics is monthly sales, and the idea of a cliffhanger for each issue was only going to work out for so long anyway. Most comics are on borrowed time from issue one, it's just a matter of the right person coming along to do something a little fresh.

Superman and Captain America came back to life, Spidey's identity is secret again, and soon Aquaman will go back to eating fish.

Not my point, they were all cash grabs, and with the deaths it was a double dip, they would then advertise the return of a character. I don't hate the idea I even like a lot of those stories (GL's death and rebirth being my favorite), and they could always retcon this in a few years anyway.

I bet it is Wally West (the second Flash) that they're "outing". He hasn't shown up in the Flash series since the relaunch. It's been a while since I've read the Flash but Wally has a wife and kids. Unless they've been done away with since the New 52 reboot I doubt it's him. But again I haven't read anything since they canceled the Flash right before Flash: Rebirth. This idea is probably one of the dumbest things I've ever heard. Having a gay character in comics if fine by me (I support gay marriage) but just up and making a character gay just because you get the wild hair up your ass to do it (or to compete with Marvel) is just retarded. It's no wonder why I haven't read any new comics in a long time.

Anyone have the old Flash series from around the late 80's with Wally's first solo book as THE FLASH, and not just 'Kid Flash'? I read the first 20 issues last night. I think Wally should come back and soon (gay or not, don't care) He was such a fun character. This was way before he was married- I think they said he was twenty years old
I have this one issue where apparently the Joker shows up so Wally calls Batman for advice and he's like 'I'll fax over what I've got....'-- Wally says 'this'll be great! We could team up- you take Gotham and I....' (Bruce hangs up)
I actually liked Wally more than Barry (but bear in mind, I never had many 'old' Flash comics-- the only exposure I got from Barry was from the TV show growing up)

Wally's easily my favorite incarnation of the Flash. I like Barry sure but I grew up reading about Wally and he'll always be who I think of when I think of the Flash.

Same here-- and as for the TV show, from what I gather it was just 'Barry' in name and employment only, the social life and personality felt more like Wally

I would like it better if they were revealing that one character in DC was going to stay straight.

Looks like it might actually be Alan Scott. I heard some rumors on the radio this morning and it looks like some news sites have been running with the story as well.
It could still all be a swerve...but it makes sense.

So he's a 'prominent character'? Does the general public even know who he is?

They used to, and I'd say the first Green Lantern is definitely a prominent character. I'm a little bummed that this basically means there won't be any Jade until they decide to reboot again. Always liked her.

I dunno, there are gay men out there who have had kids (like maybe they weren't 100% sure they were gay at the time, or ignored it) but then again, I'm picturing the older distinguished Alan Scott, like from Justice Society.... is this New 52 one supposed to be super young like the rest of them?

^I was pointing out that he is now a gay character who previously had a gay character, seems pointless, and probably won't boost sales.
