And isn't it like $40? <laughing smiley>
I might be interested in a Jax if it wasn't X-Ray'd and painted like shit and over twelve bucks.

I didn't know how much it was until I found it on TRU.com, but yeah, it's a very laughable 40 bucks. They had like five of them hanging on a random empty peg in the middle of all the empty Sportspicks pegs. This TRU literally has like somewhere in the neighborhood of 20-30 pegs devoted to McF's Sports figures and nowhere near the amount of stock needed to fill them. The employees have been poaching those pegs to hang MK, NOES, Gremlins, Robocop, and other stuff. They're not hanging price tags on them though, so you have to be careful not to get taken in by TRU and their "special" Christmas prices...

Well, they couldn't get the ninjas right and they should have been simple as shit...so I'm not too surprised that the Baraka figure looks like: mixed with:

That Baraka might look just passable with repainted eyes & claws. When these hit Marshall's a couple of them might be worth a look, especially if they make some of my favorite characters in their MK9 costumes.
Seriously disappointing though, I never expected the quality to be worse than their Deception figures, which teetered right on the brink of being awful. Still like my slightly repainted Jazwares Kano.

I don't know if I agree with you there man. Look at the hands, look at the joints, look at the lines of the figure. It just bellows "CHEAP!"
These figures look like knockoffs.

Sculpt-wise they're about in line with the Deception figures but disappointingly slightly shorter. Definitely pretty bad, but here's a repaint of the new Sub-Zero that I think makes it passable: Just sayin' if they make any of my 3 favorite characters I MIGHT pick them up at discount prices with the intention of fixing 'em. Not refuting the fact that they're a freaking disaster of toy making and it's stunning that something this bad could be made from such a huge license in 2011.

Even the repainted one still looks kinda assy to me. Then again...are these 4"ers? Figures in that scale almost always look better in person than in pitchers, just on account of being itsy.

"Polish a turd" adage aside, at least there's some detail to the repainted figure now.
It looks more like a real figure from a lousy company than a cheap knockoff from two guys named Jose and Diego who hawk their wares on a street corner in Tijuana.

Why has my interest in these pieces of shit been slightly renewed? From my research it sounds like the next 6" releases will be regular Reptile & Jax, with Sonya and Shao Kahn (possibly with throne) rumored after that. And they'll all look like shit.

Oh God, I can just imagine how terrible a female figure from these guys is going to look.
I really don't know what to tell you raz. Maybe you're a glutton for punishment.
These are figures I wouldn't even pick up if they were deep discounted at Ross or TJ Maxx. You know what I mean; they are already priced at $4.99, but since they just sit...and sit...and sit...they slap that little red $2.00 sticker over the original price tag. Yeah, I still wouldn't buy them if they did that.
I do understand any frustration you might feel due to the lack of decent MK figs...but these are just a waste of money dude.

I've taken another look at the 6" MK9 line and I think they aren't the worst things ever. The headsculpts, paintjobs, and price tag drag the figures down a lot but they actually have great articulation and costume accuracy. The dollar store looking 4" figures are really creating a worse impression for the whole line (and now from what I'm reading it sounds like the Baraka figure is actually 4"). It's true that just about any company could be doing these better and the quality control is crap, but I don't think they're QUITE the cheap knock-offs they're being made out to be (the 6" MK9 figures at least).

I've played that game a lot and I'm very sure that Scorpy's arms aren't the same thickness as his legs, his fists aren't the same size as his head, and his eyes aren't that fucking close together. That figure has Down Syndrome.

I dunno about you guys but I quite like the klassic ninja set and thinking of buying one online. The rest are pretty damn goofy though.

I finally watched the last few webisodes of Mortal Kombat Legacy. The Scorpion/Sub-Zero stuff was pretty cool, I like that we got to see the tables turned with Scorpion showing his human side and Sub-Zero as the heartless killer. I was wondering why they chose to end the series with Cyrax & Sektor, then I saw the last fight scene and holy crap that was awesome. It does make sense that they'd save the most effects-heavy scene for last. Overall, very cool for what it was. It really worked to the strengths of the franchise to give us short bursts of story but focus mostly on great special effects & fight scenes in a really well-directed package. I'd definitely like to see more. I dunno about you guys but I quite like the klassic ninja set and thinking of buying one online. The rest are pretty damn goofy though. I think the 6" MK9 figures have potential. If you look at Jazwares' previous MK line these have some improvements (Johnny Cage's upper body sculpt, new articulation) and some areas that aren't quite as good (mostly on the production side). That line was also not the best but they did get better with each wave. Although, after 6 years I did expect way higher quality from the start, but they've already added the DCUC style "ab-crunch" articulation with Jax & Reptile, and it's been confirmed that the goofy-faced Baraka is the 4"er. I'm still optimistic.

i saw them in person and they look like toys, not collector toys, play toys. thats probably what Jazwares was aiming for.

^ Fair point. Many collectors seem to want to have toys made with the intent to be pinned to a wall in a package that will last forever, and that fall apart the moment they're taken out because they're made to be looked at rather than played with. But the company printed on the box that these pieces of dog shit are for the mature collector, which negates the argument in this case.

I would like to hear from someone who actually bought these. A friend of mine ordered the 4" MK9 Scorpion for $10 (shipping included) for me so I'll weigh in when it arrives. And since I got a camera for Christmas I'll take pics.

The 4" Scorpion came into day and he's really not that bad. Only problems: taking the package out of the box his chest was popped out of his torso so keeping him in package was not an option, his left knee was super loose but a bit of the super glue solved that, and the paint apps are slightly off on his arms (mainly the black bits around his biceps). Here's some quick pics (please note that my camera isn't really high dollar and I'm still getting used to it). "VENGEANCE WILL BE MINE!" "GET OVER HERE!" Scorpion vs Venom - FIGHT! Scorpion vs Apocalypse - FIGHT!

If his legs can do any other pose than that then he's decent. ;D
I saw the 3" MK9 Sub-Zero yesterday and the detail does look more appropriate at that scale. The MK9 figs have way more detail than the classics.
The only 6" figure they had was Johnny Cage and he did look pretty small, goofy, and overpriced next to the clearance Neca stuff. I think I'll still pick up some of these eventually and I think regular 6" Jax & Reptile could turn out pretty cool. Seeing the X-Ray set in person, the sculpts look promising.

They do but since his knee is still loose it was easier to just pose him that way. I'd like to get a Sub-Zero and Reptile from MK9 to go with him but I haven't been able to check out Toys R' Us yet to see what's there. I may just see if the same friend that ordered Scorpion will order them as well.

The cyber ninja pack is the beezneez. Picked up the three pack and a Reptile from MK9 today. Reptile is decent but the cyber ninja pack is where it's at for this line. I'd have to say Sektor and MK9 Scorpion are definitely my favorites so far.

Okay, here it is. I had to break down and get one of those Klassic 4" Reptile figures. Now, before the flaming begins, I did not get it for me. My 5 year old son just HAD to have it. The good news is I didn't spend one single penny on it. We had $15 in TRU rewards to use before tomorrow and it all went to Reptile- mainly because the local TRU hasn't stocked shit since X-mas. The figure still looks like shit, but the joints are intact and my son loves it regardless. /End confession.
