I mean, there is no way you can stop it. I tried to stop saying gay, and perhaps finding a word that wouldnt offend anyone. But eh. I couldnt. There's nothing you can really do. The kids will continue to say things that piss off everyone just because they can. We're stupid, and eventually we'll learn, and the next Generation will piss us off more, and then next generation will piss them off.

Weak? Oh what should I do...go to congrass? Fuck that dude. It's a word. WHat did I do? I tried to replace the word "gay" with some other word. Never caught on, people said gay. So I just stopped caring about what people said. Not like the word ever bothered me in the first place, since I'm not gay nor have any gay friends.... Kinda like how people use politcal party names to offend someone. Since my family is mostly Democrat, and we live in a very Republican state...you could see how someone insulting you based on your political affilation can be troublesome. So I stopped caring. Stopped worrying of someone attacked Librals, stopped getting all defensive if someone started to rant their politcal views in an over the top way. Life is to short to get offended. Which is why I get SO pissed when someone utters something on TV, and theirs this HUGE unnessesary backlash towards the person.... People are stupid sometimes. Sometimes people are just assholes. I dont know how to really argue this with you, other then being very belligerant. We could keep this going....over and over...forever...or we could just stop, thinking each other is wrong. Yer call, baby doll. (Kick-Ass.... )

It's totally not the same and just because others say it, doesn't mean that you should. Again, pretty weak, dude.

*sigh*
Should I? No. But what do you want me to do? It's my langauge. It's how "we" talk. Sure...i'd say I have a better vocab then most kids my age. And i'd rather say something was "stupid" or "shitty" over "gay" and "homo"...but oh well.
You're obviously not in high school. But you obviously WERE in high school...so you obviously had friends in high school, who obviously had their own langauge in high school.
I was ready to end this debate. But whatever.

I prefer the term homo-tastical because it reminds me of the unicorns, a species who died out because they were entirely too FABULOUS!!!

They just moved their natural habitat to little girl's closets and there they thrive. I'm sorry, you're absolutely right what I said was patently ridiculous.

Silent Running - Weird but still watchable Outland - Great movie, really really like it Battle Beyond the Stars - The ship still has boobs, right? Last Starfighter - Death Blossom, nuff said. Buckaroo Banzai - Great movie. Picked it up on DVD a while back. BIG BOO-TAY!!! Most of the others I wither did not see or didn't like when I saw them.
Also you forgot Space Hunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (in 3-D)

That's why I went back and watched so many of these, to see how much my childhood mind was just filling in the gaps... it's weird to see films that you haven't seen since you were a little kid, they tend to trigger odd memories.

If a word offends you, then it's offensive.
This issue is subjective so let's not rip each other's dicks off over it.

"Astro Boy" I've never been familiar with the original, I thought the movie was fun, and well done. I'd pick it up on BLURAY when its cheaper. 7/10

I've watched the first 30 minutes of 'Avatar' and I fucking do not like this movie. The script...what the Christ?! A decade of development for that kind of script and dialog? The acting...is fucking awful. Everyone is absolutely terrible. Not a single person comes across naturally for one second. This is Sci-Fi caliber stuff. The animation is very pretty, but horribly cartoony. What the fuck is the world smoking? Assholes.
I figured I'd check out some of it before we watch the whole thing. Maybe it will resolve into something better, but right now, after 30 minutes, I don't want to see more.

Like I said, only 30-minutes invested, but...I fucking hated that POS so far. Maybe weed, 3D glasses and a screen bigger than Dallas would have me singing a very different tune a decade ago. I dunno. Right now? It's ass. The only thing separating it from a Sci-Fi channel "classic" is the trillions of dollars spent on not looking so damn cheap. Everything human eats ass in that first 30 minutes. God, what two-dimensional BS.

It IS that bad. Mark my words, you will have MANY disappointed Blu-Ray and DVD owners of the movie when it gets released on Thursday. I predict a lot of buyer's remorse. I'm still bitter over spending $12.75 to see it.

Watched How to Train Your Dragon on Friday in 3D. Fantastic film, definitely my favorite animated movie of the past few years. Whoever has not seen it yet should definitely not miss out on this one.

I second the "agree to disagree", I really like the movie, and thought everything was fine. Is the script perfection, no but its not total trash. I think a lot of people hate it because of the hype machine and that its literally the second coming of Cameron (in terms of box office when in relation to Titanic), but seriously when you rant like that then your going to hate it. I'd wait till you're in a better mood and then give it a try.
On a side note, I really hate when people (not you frinspar) make claims about anything notably movies and say, "Its stupid, lousy and a piece of garbage." Instead of saying "You know, not my kind of movie, just couldn't get into it." There are some exceptions to this rule, "The Collector" or "Paranormal Activity" or any other movie that tries to just make the proverbial quick buck. For an example, celty likes "Gamer", I didn't really care for it. But we don't go back and forth arguing it, I didn't like it, but he does.
And for tenbrouck, you're wrong on this one. I've been keeping tabs on what is coming down the pipeline for the release. If you didn't like the movie that's fine, I know I'll be buying it Thursday because it is as of right now going to be THE bluray to own. The normal compression time of three weeks took six for "Avatar", the reason why only the movie on the disc is becuase they wanted to make sure as much of the detail and high quality was on that disc. Less of the memory used better image quality. Yes I'm aware they could have done special features on a second disc, but lets not forget that VHS' never had special features. The special edition comes out in November, and then in roughly two or three years (I'm betting to coincide with the second movie) the 3D release which part of the reason they are holding off on that is due to the lack of decent 3D TV's on the market not to mention how many people don't or won't buy them.

Avatar has the greatest effects in the history of cinema. That's a fact. I dont care about the rest. I love the movie, but I thought it was really weak in many areas of the story and characters. But not godawful.
The effects MADE the flick.

Some I will argue with. To each his own then becomes "You have a sh-t taste in movies"...but Gamer...is not one of them. My only problem with 'Gamer' is that the directors missed the mark. The story was good. The acting was good. The shooting style didn't suit the emotion of the story. It kind of mocked the entire idea of "love overcomes all", and that's essentially what this story depended on to move forward. What I'm trying to say is- the story was thrown away so the cameras could make us dizzy. I don't get dizzy when I play a video game. Maybe after 9 hours, or some shit like that, but never after 90 minutes. The editing was atrocious. Every time a little "lag" cut was done to alter the shot, or "shake was added, I shook my head with anger. What were they trying to get across? What point was made, other than to show how "Lag" affected the players? It surely didn't need to be a constant, did it? The movie was overly pushy and could have been a shitload better. P.S. I ABSOLUTELY love both 'Crank' flicks!

The thing is if your argument consists of "I don't like this movie and it sucks" you're usually not a very intelligent person. It's true that movies are somewhat subjective, but you can also comment on pacing, directing style, special effects, scripting so on and so forth... there are arguments to be made, it's just most people are too lazy to make the argument, they just want to assert their opinion as anything definitive. I'll throw my hat into the agree to disagree category, avatar was amazing, and, get this, a hell of a lot of fun.

I ABSOLUTELY love both 'Crank' flicks! I completely agree about the "crank" films, I'm really hoping on a third. My problem with gamer is that it never fully went into top gear, it tried hard to be one kind of film, sort of natural born killers, sort of techno-goth, then meandered into gritty action, played around with some plot depth, but never followed any of these into any sort of cohesive storytelling. The film was okay, but there was just so much obvious missed potential. However it's also not one of those movies that I would begrudge anybody for liking, there was definitely enough in there to make it a guilty pleasure.
