Always looking for something new to read, and I imagine some of you guys are the same. Post some stuff that you feel is worth checking out, be it newer stuff, older back issues, trades, etc. Maybe with a brief story description. I'll start:
Daredevil (vol.1) #191: Great issue by Frank Miller. DD relates a story to a hospitalized Bullseye about the influence his status as a hero had on a young boy.....and the dangerous results.
The Spectre (vol.3) #0-62: Fantastic run by John Ostrander. In my opinion, the best Spectre comics ever written. Sadly, there was only one trade ever released, that reprints #1-4.

Scalped is the best thing ever. I keep trying to spread the word on this because it fucking amazing and not many people read it. I actually just read the last issue in the second to last story arc before the series ends for good. It's amazing! It's risen to the number one spot on my favorite comics of all time, surpassing V For Vendetta, Y: The Last Man, The Walking Dead, and Watchmen.
Locke and Key is also an under-appreciated gem. This book is very damn amazing. Right up there with Scalped as a relatively new book that's fast become one of my favorites of all time.
RASL and Echo are some really cool creator-owned, independent, black & white, sci-fi comics that are drawn by their writers. Jeff Smith does RASL and Terry Moore does Echo. Check them out if you like sci-fi! The art in both is fan fucking tastic.

Brilliant by Bendis and Bagley is pretty cool so far. It's on its second or third issue, but it shows a lot of promise.

The Boys by Garth Ennis is pretty good too, from what little I've read. Almost seems like the superhero version of Preacher.

Y: The Last Man is one of the best series I've ever read, though a couple of the middle volumes dragged a bit. Some would disagree but I thought the ending was amazing. I cried.
The Boys is a pretty good one. I haven't picked up the last couple TPBs, so I need to catch up.
Just finished the third issue of Superior and I'm REALLY liking it!
Read the first issue of Brilliant, it was good, so I picked up the second but haven't read it yet.
I've heard many good things about Preacher, and I got volume one a while back but I haven't read it yet either.

I read the first issue of "Preacher". Fucking awesome, and it needs to be made shot-for-shot as a television series. None of the dialogue changed, and none of the wardrobes or sets altered in any way.

My favorite book out there currently is PunisherMAX-- and damnit there's only ONE issue left!!! I'm curious as hell how it's going to end though-- will Castle die? I seriously think he might! Here's why: I feel this 22 issue MAX series serves as putting the lid on 'Vietnam Punisher'-- similar to what 'Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow' was to Superman, this is putting 'that version' to rest, with a true ending-- and paving the way for a 'reboot'. Certainly one that ignores Vietnam and allows us to have a younger Frank Castle--like the movies have done. I'm pretty torn on that whole idea.... anyone who knows the Punisher realizes the importance of his tour in 'Nam. But at the same time, if they're keeping the stories set in the present day, they could only go for so long.... Castle is at least 60. I guess I'll just see what happens. *edit* Some of my favorite parts of the MAX series have been the 'flashbacks'-- where we see Castle as The Punisher in the 70's and 80's when he's young and still has his short haircut. I'd totally love a new series that explores that, rather than a reboot I'm also reading a few select New 52's. All the Batman comics, Action Comics, Superman, Justice League, Catwoman and Batgirl. I like them all! I initially was picking up Batwoman, Aquaman, Superboy and Red Hood, but I gradually lost interest. Plus it was too damned expensive every week, lol!

I have to agree about Preacher (the best comic ever written, just flawless from start to finish), and also Punisher MAX and The Boys. Really, anything by Garth Ennis is worth reading, with a very few exceptions. His first Ghost Rider miniseries kinda sucked, and some of his WW2 comics can get a bit repetitive. Otherwise the guy is very reliable.
Non-Ennis recommendations: 100 Bullets, Captain America (Ed Brubaker run), Transmetropolitan, Planetary, Astonishing X-Men (Joss Whedon run), All Star Superman, Scalped, Y: The Last Man, Ex Machina, We3, Hellboy/BPRD.

The "Crossing Worlds" trade is out of print and tough to find for a good price, and the book that includes just the Batman crossover isn't worth the price for single story. But I just read Planetary for the first time last summer (the four main trades) and I really, really liked it. John Cassaday is amazingly talented.

Fuck if I knew Crossing Worlds was hard to find I would have gotten it when I saw it at a used book store for cheap!
I got the Batman one for 60% off when Borders closed, so it was a fair deal. It was ok. Funny, but very short.

Just my thoughts on some of the above.
Punisher MAX has been the best comic of the past year. Screw what you think you know about the Punisher, this is just bad ass crime drama wrapped around an old and unstoppable killing machine. Too bad it has to end.
Preacher is one of the greatest comics ever written but it is far from flawless. The series' towards the end seem to fall apart. I am mad that Ennis took everything that was great about the characters he spent so long building only to have them turn to shit by the end (Tulip not being able to cope, Cassidy is weak). That's my 2 cents of course.
Honorable mention goes ot the new 52 Batman, Swamp Thing and Animal Man.
Brubaker's Incognito, Sleeper and Criminal series' have been great too.

You've read the Ennis Punisher MAX series, right? It makes the Jason Aaron one look feel like a damn Babysitters Club story in comparison.

Yes, I've read them all since Garth started doing Punisher for Marvel Knights. And while I do love me some Garf Ennis, Aaron was able to take what he started and give it a great ride and final resting place. I'm really not sure which I prefer, to be honest. I was going to drop it when aaron took over but he's been great.

The last week or so I've been reading through "The Boys" again starting at the beginning, and I have to give the series another shoutout here. It's just so damn good. Ennis is better than anyone else when it comes to blending great character development and dialogue with extreme violence and sly satire, with lots of genuine heart and emotion as well. People tend to focus on the violence and "extreme" moments in his books, but it's the emotional stuff that's every bit as much of a trademark of his. In these long ongoing series of his where he can flesh out his characters over several years he shows why he's better than anybody else in comics. And as good as Jason Aaron is (I seriously love "Scalped"), it's impossible to read his stuff without feeling like much of his talent is due to the influence of Garth Ennis.

Nobody does characterization like Garf. He's easily one of my all time favorites, if not my all time favorite. The WW II (Battlefields) stuff he's done for Dynamite has been some of his best work. Very much looking forward to him tackling "The Shadow". www.comicbookresources.com/?page=article&id=36431

Garth Ennis is awesome. I just get tired of all the sexual silliness. I get it, you're English. Sex is really funny.

Yeah, me too. Like did Fury really need a character called Fuckface? Did Ghost Rider really neeed a character called Buttview? Arseface is the excepton as he was an integral part of the Preacher story. But some of these things I can do without in certain comics. In other comics, like the excellent Dicks and Dicks 2, feel free.

So you didn't like the scene with Hughie getting period blood all over his face? Or when Detective Soap inadvertently has sex with his own mother? Or when The Pro is going down on the Superman-esque character and his come blasts a wing off an airplane flying overhead? "Ohhhhhh, ohhhhhh, OH GOD MOVE YOUR HEAD!!!"
That shit's hilarious!

Here's a few more for everyone.
Black Hole by Charles Burns. Think teenage mutation in the 60s, if it didn't give the affected superpowers, and it was sexually transmitted.
Hellblazer. Pretty much any of it. I like to go to used bookstores and just grab whatever volume I can find. Then I sit back with a decent glass of scotch and it feels like catching up with an old friend. If you guys like Ennis, his run is damn good. But the early stuff by Jamie Delano is just fucking crazy.
Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron or David Boring by Daniel Clowes. Yes, it's the guy that made Ghostworld, but this stuff will leave you cold and haunt your dreams for months. It's this crazy isolated cynicism that just scrapes at your spinal chord.
The Filth by Grant Morrison. If you read it fast enough, you can attain premature enlightenment.
Technopriests by Alejandro Joderowsky (that other dude that was gonna direct Dune) and Zoran Janjetov. Imagine someone in Spain attempting to explain Dune, Star Wars and Star Trek to someone, but they only saw it once, and it was really late, and they thought the stories needed more rape. The first volume is amazing, and it kind of goes steadily downhill from there. But worth a look.
Anything by Crepax, Milo Manara, Moebius, and the other guys from the European school are all pretty amazing as well.
And lastly, Holli Hoxxx by Adam Tinius, Austin Tinius & Stefano Cardoselli. In the future, there is no gravity. Book one comes out later this month.

I wish some American publisher would get on the stick and start collecting the Ennis "Judge Dredd" stories. I've thought about it, but I don't want to be bothered with tracking them all down on eBay.
