Yup. Destro looks sweet. I really didn't want to get this first series, but they all look so damn great. Shit.

It's Snake Eyes. Cool, but not the piece to get me to buy the series. I just have so many SE variations already this feels highly redundant, even in a new scale. I mean, of course they had to make him. But series 2 would've been smarter. 3 Joes, 2 Cobra, that was my hope.

I've never been a GI Joe fan (I don't think I've ever owned a single toy) but the 6" line looks pretty cool.

The burning money is pretty funny, but I never thought "Pimp Daddy" Destro was cool. The dark blue Cobra Commander seems Napoleonic to me, and I preordered one. Gung Ho sucks...but Gung Ho has always sucked, so whatever. The Red Ninja illustration on the packaging looks 10X more badass than the figure does.

Pretty underwhelmed with this lineup, too. I have a CC that's pretty damned close to this one, so I'm not feeling like it's a buy. So far the only one I still think I might get at some point is original Destro. Maybe if I didn't have an obnoxious amount of the 3-3/4" Joes I'd feel more driven to invest in this line. As it is, I'll cherry pick what really hits me.

I haven't been into 3 3/4" figures since I was a kid. No clue what happened to my Star Wars guys, and while my dad let me watch GI Joe, both my parents refused to ever get me the toys. I was encouraged to like Robotech instead. No idea what happened to all my Robotech stuff, either.

It's definitely a smaller, older Sarge, so I don't know how quite I feel about that. Sure looks like him, though.

I've never bought a GI Joe figure in my life, but the 6" line looks really cool. I might jump in. The Classified line looks like it'll fit right in with the Black Series and the new Ghostbusters line (which is AMAZING).
I never had the toys as a kid. My hippie Reagan-hating parents didn't buy toys with guns for their kids, it was all Ghostbusters and Star Wars and DC Super Powers.

If any of you guys happen to see this at a Target store and are willing to sell it to your old buddy Griff for cost plus shipping, please grab one for me. The Cobra Island Wave is a Target exclusive and both Target and Hasbro have been fucking up the roll out every step of the way.

If I see it I will. But holy ass, I was in Target yesterday and the entire toy section was a wasteland. They haven't ordered anything in months and every aisle is 50% stocked or less. They're still stocking back to school shit to the rafters, though.

I found a few of these last week, took them to the register, "Sorry, release date in 8/14, can't sell em".
Last week the release date was moved up to 8/1. So when I was at Target on Saturday looking for those damn NECA TMNT exclusives, I saw a guy putting out the new GI Joes. I took them to the register, "Sorry, website is wrong, release date is 8/14".
By this point enough people have figured out a way to game the system and get the figures before the official date so that when 8/14 rolls around there won't be anything left. Store exclusives are the goddamn worst. Not to mention that even having a strict release date for GI Joes is stupid. It's not like there's a movie coming out with a massive coordinated merchandising rollout, it's a collector line aimed at a niche market. Just sell the damn things.

It's not like there's a movie coming out with a massive coordinated merchandising rollout, it's a collector line aimed at a niche market. Just sell the damn things. It's not gaming the system. Other collectors figured out that both street dates are bullshit, and because there's no register block. So, if an employee puts them out and you take them to self checkout, they ring up with zero problems and no one saying "Sorry. 8/14 blah blah." Target even said on social media that there had been a miscommunication and these were supposed to be on sale in stores as early as 7/26, but it seems like the correct info is still slow to make it to individual stores. And yes, Store exclusives are the goddamn worst, and right now is a terrible time for them, since their purpose is to drive foot traffic to Target (or Walmart or wherever), and right now that's irresponsible as fuck. No doubt that deal was made a while ago, but both Hasbro should adapt. Street dates for things not tied to movies are also dumb and this one is creating a shitload of chaos and confusion and just serving to stress out and alienate the group of collectors who actually want to buy these things. So, you're looking for them, OK, and your Target toy aisle isn't a fucking disaster area. Can you keep an eye out for Baroness and Coil Bike, and would you be willing to get an extra if you happen to see more than one on the shelf? If I happen to get lucky (seems unlikely, since online sales are a mess, and I can't even walk right now), I'll PM you guys. Worst case scenario (second worst case, I guess) is you return it.

They are register blocked though, or at least they are at my Target. Both times I tried to buy them at self checkout, and both times they were flagged and an employee came over and grabbed them. It seems like once product is put out on the floor, stocked correctly on a peg specifically meant for that product, a customer should be able to buy it without any hassle. It's not like I put on a red polo shirt and went digging around in the stockroom for these things, they had been put out on the shelf TWICE.
And the way to game the system for things like this would be to grab the street-dated figures along with one of the regular non-exclusives, and at the self checkout scan the non-exclusive figure as many times as you need for the exclusives, put the exclusives in the bag, and tell the clerk "sorry, I grabbed this one by mistake". If the exclusives set off the alarm as you're leaving, you're in the clear because your receipt shows you bought however many GI Joe figures. But of course I didn't come up with the idea for that little caper until it was too late.
If I see an extra Baroness, I'll try to help you out Griff.

Everything I'm seeing on social media says that there is no register block at any Target and that they ring up fine, except for at your Target, I guess. That sucks. And the folks who do that swap shit just fuck up the store's inventory. Typically I see a few assholes on facebook or one of the forums bragging about doing that when met with street date problems. I haven't seen anyone talking about that, so I assume that they aren't running into any problems once they can actually get their hands on these things. There are plenty of stories about folks being told "It won't ring up," and then telling the manager or employee to try, and the figures ring up fine, to the surprise of the employee, who then quits making a fuss and apologizes and lets the customer complete the purchase and take them home. Jeez what a clusterfuck. Also, I appreciate that, man. I've got three to four sets of eyes watching for Baroness and the bike. Target put the damn thing up for pre-order again with no warning the other night, but forgot to deactivate the "Preorder Now" button on the page. I contacted CS about that, and the employee told me that she thinks it's likely that will be it for online sales. She may not know what the hell she's talking about, but either way...fucking WOOOO! *sigh* Giving a company money for a product they should want to sell should not be this difficult.

No problemo.
This GI Joe line really is cool, and I'm not even really a fan. I know some of the characters, but that's it. The first time I saw them I got Snake Eyes and Destro, and the figures were so good I went back for the rest of the wave.
But at least with the Cobra Island wave being Target exclusive there's a better chance of actually finding them in stores than if Walmart had them.

But at least with the Cobra Island wave being Target exclusive there's a better chance of actually finding them in stores than if Walmart had them. You know, I never owned a single GI Joe figure. My parents refused to buy them for me as a kid, and my mother didn't want us watching the show. My dad never really gave a shit. My sister would more than once walk be my while I was watching, sit down next to me, turn to me and say, "This show is stupid." It annoyed the hell out of me when I was nine. I've rewatched some of the episodes in recent years, and she was 100% right. But I'll be damned if I don't find some of those character and vehicle designs, especially for Cobra, cool as fuck and especially "toyetic," as they say. Now that they're available in 6" which is a scale I actually collect, I gotta have them. I have Cobra Commander on preorder, and am waiting as patiently as I can for news about Alley Vipers (seen in some of the Classified artwork on posters and cardbacks and stuff) and Helix (seen in concept art on the GI Joe website), and who right now, is the only JOE I'm interested in.

Stopped into Target after work just to look and they didn't have anything new hanging, but they did have 6 pegs tagged for Joes and a shelf spot that had the word "bike" on the tag. So they're coming. I was very surprised and curious to see one peg tag with the word "Firefly" on it. Haven't heard or seen a thing about him. So I wonder what the hell that means.

Seems that they use codenames for Hasbro products in the system a lot these days, typically prior to release, but I guess sometimes they print it on the tag, too. Baroness was "Ladybug" or "GIJ Fig & BI" on the tag, and I think "Firefly" is the code they had for Beachhead. Who knows what codename they'll be using for an actual Firefly figure, but I kind of doubt it'll be "Beachhead."

Most of the pegs had GIJ FigGenAsst or something close to that. Which is why Firefly really stuck out. I'll keep checking every couple of days, even though it's supposed to be the 14th.

We had to run get some things at places and I found the 4 Joes minus Destro at Target. Wifespar convinced me to get them all. "It looks stupid if you only have 1 of them." LOL So I'll just get him from BBTS and ship with Kingpin and Marty McFly after he's released. No Baroness, though. But I might've also grabbed her if she was there. These do look great.

I should've known I'd be weak when faced with them actually in front of me. I'm a sucker. Roadblock's ridiculous gun and his loose joints make him impossible to pose at all. These might be package pieces.

Standard. They only had 5 boxes on pegs, Duke, Scarlett, SEx2 and Roadblock. Nothing else. I definitely want Beach Head and Cobra Trooper.

If it weren't for the weird placement of the knife on the Cobra Trooper, that figure would be perfect. Personally, I'm waiting for a couple Vipers. Never liked Beachhead much, but I hope you find him.

That's where they put a knife on several of the 3-3/4" figures, too.
I've replaced the green Target Captain Marvel on top of my amp with Scarlett. She's now hanging out with blue Deadpool, Thanos, Red Hulk, white Black Widow, Doom, The Police and Prince POPS, Pinhead, Skeletor, Demogoblin and doppelganger Spidey. Until I get Destro in my hands, she might be my favorite of this wave. But the detailing of these is killer. The very light scar above Duke's eye and the fade of his hair are very subtle and well done. Should really order stands.

I grabbed a pretty decent all-wood display from work a while back. 6 shelves, natural. Pulled it out of the guest room today and set it in a corner of the den and started putting figures on it, mostly Legends. Perfect spacing for them. I'll probably paint and/or stain it eventually. But I just wanted to play with toys today, so there we go.
